In attempts to clean my keyboard after a wine spill a few months ago and a resulting sticking "CAPS lock" key, I removed the key. Then after several YouTube videos and an hour later of fruitless labor trying to put they key back on (those things are MUCH trickier than they look), I decided to let a professional handle this. This team is awesome. Met with Adam online initially, using Yelp. He walked me off of the ledge because my Mac Mini was driving me insane. I was about to cash it in and get a Windows server. He encouraged me that I didn't want to do that ... but ... every time I did any kind of operation I was getting the spinning beach ball of death. He recommended I come in for a diagnostics test. Adam allowed me to set up my system in the shop to demonstrate what was happening. He was able to identify the issue immediately and suggested that I install an SSD rather than keep the old spinning disk in the mini--a very quick and accurate diagnosis. So I dropped off the mini for a couple of days, went back to pick it up, and viola! it is running more quickly and smoothly than ever before. To think, it nearly met an early fate in the giveaway pile. Now it looks like I will have a couple of more years with this mini. I've used Mac Outlet several times in the past and was really satisfied and happy with their service and attentions to detail. What's happened? I emailed a question and got a reply, but had a follow-up question and never received a reply. I also phoned them w/the same question and never received a return phone call. The question related to a purchase of memory, but I needed more specific information, i.e., the quoted price of the item was for how many and was installation included. Love this place! Great customer service, very knowledgable and experienced staff (one girl had worked for Apple for 10 years before starting there) and you can tell they have fun at work, which makes it more fun to go there. Yes, they have a diagnostic fee, but that is standard and they were very honest wtih me about all of that up front, so there were no surprises. Plus, I went in on a weekday without much traffic, so after I mentioned I was needing it back rather quickly for a project I needed to meet a deadline with, instead of making me wait a day for my repair, they did it on the spot since it was apparently an easy fix. Wow, I was so pleased! They were very knowledgable about my computer and operating system, etc., which is nice b/c I'm not a techie at all, more of a free spirit that likes to make pretty things in Adobe :) ... and they gave me some advice on preventing another problem, like the one I'd had, which is exactly what I need! Not to mention, THEY WERE SO NICE ABOUT IT and not snobby or devoid of social skills like I've noticed at other computer repair shops. I have an iMac 07. When I went to the Mac store I was told it was vintage and I needed a new hard drive due to the constant freezing and various other issues I was having. The Mac store told me to take my computer to the Mac Outlet. Thank God I did! By far, the best customer service I've had in my life. They were able to recognize the issue and fix it within a total of 15 minutes. It wasn't a hard drive issue at all. I had a great experience here a few months ago when I needed to replace my fried old mac. They helped me figure out what to do with the old mac and hard drive at no charge and then spent almost an hour telling me about the refurb. models. I found one that seemed perfect but I was on the fence. The guy who was helping me (Mike maybe?) was so convinced I would love it (it met all the needs I described) that he knocked a little of the sticker to help me decide. I took the new comp. home but after a day of working on it I determined the screen was really too small for me personally though the machine was still perfect for my needs. I was within the return policy so I took it back and they didn't even hesitate in exchanging it for a larger model that suited me better. Definitely my go-to place for anything Mac related! Unlike most other shops, these guys do it all: repairs, warranty work, trade-ins/purchases, and Mac sales. They've got a huge showroom full of all the toys I love. Very knowledgable and friendly staff, always willing to answer my questions. I've bought an iPad from them and had my Mac Pro repaired here, and both experiences were very good (I thought my computer was fried but it turned out to just need a new video card...it was hundreds of dollars less than I was expecting to have to pay). They're honest, their prices are very competitive, and they do good work. They're Apple Authorized, too, unlike a lot of other shops around town, which gives me a little extra comfort doing business with them. Highly recommended! read more

I want to start by saying these guys did fix the problem with my iMac. However, they also created a whole new one. Had an issue with the logic board. They replaced it and got the iMac working again. Then they wiped the hard drive and installed the most recent OS (which didn't need to be done!). Unfortunately, my iMac is one of the 1st gen intels, only supports 2 gb of ram, and can't run the most recent OS! Well, it can run it, but if you open any other program, it crashes. Because the OS wants all the ram. This is a truly stupid move on the part of The Mac Outlet. If they are the experts they claim to be, wouldn't they know the 1st gen intel iMac wouldn't be able to run the newest OS? Or wouldn't they know it didn't have enough ram to run it? And as a customer service note - when I contacted them about this issue, they did nothing to fix the problem. I asked if they could reinstall an older version of the OS - they said no. So I had to go digging for my discs and reinstall everything myself. It's utterly ridiculous and could have been avoided if they had only paid attention. Buyers beware with this place. read more

I am very impressed with the new location and friendly customer service. Since I last visited over a year ago (at the old location) they have undergone a complete and improved makeover. I went in over 3 days and each time I was warmly greeted upon arrival by Phil a genius with great people skills who helped me retrace my steps to diagnose possible problems. He quickly assisted and reassured me that they couldn't promise to recover my data but based on what I said that "there was a good chance they could resolve it." The next day, another friendly genius named J.P. called and said he was able to fix it! I was so relieved that I didn't have to spend $$ to buy a new computer as well as lose all of my data! We should name these guys "Super-Geniuses" or something more distinct because they have more knowledge and Apple awareness than any of the "geniuses" I've worked with at the retail Apple store. Since I've been out of the warranty period for 2 years, I've been nervous that I'll have to drop a couple hundred for little problems. I am much more relieved to know I can trust them to successfully diagnose and perform surgery at a very reasonable price. I spent $80 total for them to fix my operating system problems, reinstall, find my data, and backup my barely used external hard drive--Apple probably would have charged a couple hundred for the same problem and sent my computer away for a couple of weeks! Within 3 days I had it back and it was working as usual. I learned my lesson...backup every few days and always consult the Mac Outlet first before going to Apple! Thanks guys! read more

Good luck" and he ended the call. If you can't help that's one thing, but to be so horrifically rude is inexcusable. My wife's Mac Book pro broke down, so we headed to the Mac Outlet. It is right near Smashburger in Englewood, right off Broadway. It is in a corner of the old Table Steaks building. The guys in the Mac Outlet were very helpful and attentive. They were super tech-savvy, and are certainly a reputable and hip computer shop. They told my wife they would call or email her to have repairs authorized after they did diagnostics. They told us it would be 6 or 7 days, which kind of freaked me and my wife out. 5 days later, we were happy to get email notification that our MacBookPro was fixed up, ready to go, and the repair was covered by Apple. When we picked it up, the gentleman assisting us was very nice, and did not charge us anything. Apparently Apple covered the part the broke under warranty, even 4 years after my wife had bought it. They did not even charge us labor. I almost felt as though I was getting away with something too good to be true. My wife's computer works great, and I couldn't be more pleased with the repair. I would definitely recommend the Mac Outlet to get any Apple product repaired, because they are liscensed and approved by Apple. Rock out Mac Outlet! read more

Best ever! Brought it in for a repair then departed for an extended overseas trip. Well - there were still some problems, but being overseas, I couldn't get beck before the warranty expired. My hard drive recently crashed, with no backup disk...I took it to the Mac Outlet to get a new hard drive. I also added ram. I had little hope of recovering any of my pictures, files, etc, but when we connected it today, everything was there! They were able to migrate everything. They were friend, quick. When the backup drive only got a little information off my original hard drive they gave me a partial refund. The service was prompt, friendly and professional. I have been a customer of the Mac Outlet for several years and have always found the staff to be professional and courteous. My most recent visit was to install a new hard drive on my iMac. Following the install it appeared my photos failed to transfer and all looked lost. Thankfully, the repair person told me to call when I got home and we could link into my Airport Time Capsule to see if there was a usable backup. After a couple of failed attempts he was not ready to give up and sure enough on the third try we were able to locate the photos and make a smooth transfer. When I say he was not ready to give up I mean he stayed after hours and talked me through the process until it was completed. That defines service! Thank you Mac Outlet. read more

Just bought an Ipad and Ipod this past weekend at the tune of $400+....sight unseen because I trusted them to provide working products. Looked at the Ipod yesterday and saw it had a cracked screen. Tried to return it and was told it was in good condition when it was sold to me and therefore could not be returned. The owner Joseph called me shortly afterwards and kindly offered me a refund. Appears to be a solid company with a customer service focus. I will probably visit there again over the next year. The store manager AC conducted the transaction in a timely manner. 6/16/16 update...well it's been almost two weeks and the promised refund hasn't materialized as of yet. Have submitted a dispute with my credit card company to resolve the issue. A word of advice...find a reputable company that offers good products and services when forking over your hard earned cash! read more

iBook G4 ... paid diagnostic fee ... took a while for a callback / completion of service ... After pickup, and return home, the wireless wouldn't work w- our DSL ... Brought back 3 times ... first 2 times they had no trouble with it working (w- unit on their desk, close to router) ... 3rd time, they finally figured out problem that they had missed before ... The last 2 times I had the same rep, and his service was extremely poor ... rude, lazy, and he told me my warranty was up, but he was wrong ... I was furious, was able to connect with Ted Langley, one of the mgrs. Ted took the ball, ran with it, and made things right. People / businesses make mistakes; but if they make it right, I will give them credit. Next time I go in, I WILL avoid the one rep, even though I won't give his name. (I don't have the heart to do that). But Ted? Ted rocks. If you aren't getting what is fair, then call Ted. read more
