My computer started having issues on a weekend, called Ryan on Sunday afternoon. He was fine with me coming to drop it off the same day. A few days later, he provided what he found the issue was (corrupted hard drive), and allowed me to purchase and ship my choice of replacement to him. Ryan was great on keeping up to date on status even with other things he had going on as well (business and otherwise). He also provided a few tips for once I'm home and had all files transferred over as needed for increasing my computer's speed. In any event, while we were installing the camera, I casually mentioned that I had lost a Word document, one that I had unsuccessfully taken every step I could think of to recover, even purchasing a Word recovery app to no avail. After reading the amazing reviews here in Yelp, I brought my laptop to Ryan for a diagnostic, as it was giving me a cooling system error every time I booted up. I brought the laptop to him on November 5th, over two weeks ago. As promised, he called me with an update on the 7th and told me he hadn't found any smoking guns, but could continue to do some diagnostics to dig further. I was surprised to find out he had not once received the cooling system error that had been plaguing me, but agreed to some more diagnostics. I use my computer for my work. It is a vital component to my ability to produce income. Since the update I received 13 days ago, I have not received any communication from Ryan about the status of my laptop. I have called his office number during business hours almost daily for over a week. I have emailed two different email addresses, both help@tek-ease.com and ryan@tek-ease.com. I finally went into his office at 3222 Tejon St., Studio G yesterday, the 19th of November, to see if I could get any additional information. He was not in, so I asked someone in one of the adjacent businesses if they knew if Ryan from Tek-Ease was okay. They responded that he had been in the office the day before. I left a note on the desk in the Tek-Ease office space and tried calling the office phone number listed on the "out of the office" sign (the same number I have been calling). I still have not heard from Ryan. I would love to be another person giving him a glowing review here on Yelp, but I am now forced to reduce his five-star average. His motto on the website is "It's not your computer, it's your life!" But, after almost two weeks of non-communication about my "life", I am very disappointed in this business. read more

Like many other reviewers, Ryan did a great job on my computer. I had lent my laptop to a friend and it came back with a malware infection. The whole process was very easy: called, explained the problem, handed over my laptop and received it within a matter of days; found out there were viruses on there as well, great eh? My uncle who works for Intel couldn't fix it and if he did, he probably would have missed the viruses- I have lost all faith in him and now deem Tek Ease as my computer saviors. I opted to just get the malware/viruses out for $75. Being the poor student and Pho delivery runner, I couldn't afford to spend a total of $150 (additional $75 for a system update) at the time, knowing there's still $500 worth of organic chem/anatomy books still on my list to buy. My laptop is running fine now, like how it was before, but Ryan stated that it was "too slow" for him, so if the speed of my laptop is considered fast for me now, I betcha I wouldn't even be able to comprehend the speed if it was updated. So ... I've already made it a MUST to come back and get my system updated because the folks at Tek Ease definitely know what they are doing, their service is beyond fantastic. Tek Ease is awesome. I had a bad hard disk from a fall and dent suffered by my laptop. Ryan met me at his door and explained the options for repair, was upfront about pricing and the time that it would take, and outlined the options for me. He was trying to sell me on replacing my disk drive with a solid state hard drive that was quite a bit more expensive. While I'm usually very wary of this kind of upselling, I found Ryan very trustworthy and knowledgeable so I went with his recommendation. A few days later, my laptop was working better than ever, and I totally love the solid state drive, as it makes my computer twice as fast to operate and extends the battery life significantly. A couple of things to be aware of--Tek Ease is no longer at the address listed with Yelp (Bruce Randolph Ave) and since the business is operated out of a residence, you have to make an appointment with Ryan and feel comfortable that you're not doing business with a storefront operation. I had no problems with this, it just wasn't what I had initially expected. I highly recommend this business. read more

Turns out I had used Tek Ease before in the past and was as happy then as I am now. This time I melted the connections on my laptop keyboard. I called 5 places or so and they all wanted to run a $75-$100 diagnostic before doing any work and without a rush fee some of these places said it would be 5 days before they could even look at it. I spoke with Ryan and explained the situation. I told him I wanted to buy a keyboard and have it installed. He understood that I could not go 5 days without my work laptop (Not sure why the other tech guys did not get this). Ryan sent me an invoice and then ordered the part. It showed up a few days later and I scheduled a time to drop off the laptop. 1.5 hrs later we are back up and running. 5 STARS ALL DAY LONG! read more

My 1 1/2 year old likes to climb up everything and act like Godzilla. He stepped on my laptop and his chubby self was too much for its delicate innerworkings. While I sent it off to be repaired by Squaretrade, I needed a loaner. No problem, Best Buy surely has them. Nope. Next I looked on Yelp.com next and saw Tek Ease. It was a drive, but it appeared to be the only option for rentals. I also noticed they have 30 reviews, mostly 4 stars. Ryan, the owner let me know I could rent a laptop, a Lenovo Smartbook for $50 bucks for the week. When I went to pick it up, he was fine with me and Godzilla chilling on his couch. Overall great experience with Ryan at Tek Ease. I found this company via Yelp and it already had some great recommendations so I went for it. My desktop computer was having some issues staying on after starting up and it was impossible to have some of my friends back in Washington that are "Computer Nerds" access it remotely to see what was going on. Ryan was able to look at my computer later that afternoon and after some trial and error he figured out that it was a bad video driver and took the time to properly delete it and install the right one from Nvidia's website. My dog spilled a full glass of red wine into my laptop...twice. After the second time, it no longer worked. These guys not only fixed that problem, but debugged my system, located and fixed other problems, and spent a ton of time getting my speed up and securing my system at no extra charge. I haven't written a review in ages but felt that I should for Tek Ease. I was basically pretty desperate since my computer was not turning on properly and I was able to get an appointment the same day. Although there was a slight misunderstanding about the pick up time, Ryan was able to fully fix my old old desktop back to functioning condition. He also explained computer stuff in plain language which definitely helped me since I'm basically computer illiterate. He is amazing with his follow up as well which shows that he really does care what happens even after you leave the shop.
