My husband wanted to come here because he had the Lemon Grass Beef Salad when he was here 3 weekends ago. He loved it! So, we were surprised that it had changed over from Pho 888. I didn't read the new reviews until after we came in.. but I also always judge a pho restaurant on the broth. And I always order rare steak & tripe. No, I don't want to try other combinations - I know what I like. I have to agree with Mike B. that the broth was bland. Serving size of the noodles was good, but we had to ask for more garnish and there wasn't much tripe. Because I always order the rare steak and tripe, I know what I am looking for. I didn't find it here with their broth. It wasn't as beefy and rich tasting as I like. My husband says it needed salt... but he says that about anything he didn't cook. We also always order the fresh spring rolls with shrimp only. They were NOT fresh shrimp, if I have to poop in 6 hours, then this star rating will go down. My husband thought they tasted like lettuce. My husband had the pho with grilled pork. He thought his pho was 3 stars. He also felt it didn't have much flavor to it. I didn't taste it because he puts too much hot crap in it. When we first came in, we were offered a table that needed to be cleaned even though there were a lot of empty/clean tables. When we went to another table, the seats had bits of spilled food on them. We liked Pho 888, and I wouldn't mind coming back to Mac Pho to see if they improve on their broth. read more

We were told when we walked in to pick any seat we wanted and we took the first available seats, the waiter came to us and told us that it was cold and people continue coming in and out and we wouldn't enjoy being in the restaurant unless we move to another area and we did and it was nice and comfortable. I had the Mac pho bowl which is a beef noodle soup with everything and it was great the broth tasted good before the seasonings I added. They accommodated are children and let them split a bowl of soup between the two of them. My wife had a fried rice and chicken plate that was cook good and had good flavor. Stopped by on my way back to San Jose. First I must say I love pho and eat it any chance I can 3 to 5 times a week. I have had it all over the world and especially in San Jose, Ca where there are more Pho places than Starbucks. This place is amazing. I had the pho with lean meat and the broth is clean, not greasy and so flavorful. My girl had the special spring roll....wow....spring roll with the creativity of sushi.....AMAZING BOTH! My family and I come here often and it saddens me to witness such a behavior. We come here to eat and enjoy our meals, hoping that the food is safe and that every worker is being sanitary. I went to use the restroom and come out just on time to witness one of the employees stick her finger in my smoothie and lick it. The other employee that made it did not make a fuss about it as if she didn't care. So I confronted the lady who stuck her finger in my drink and she did not understand me because she doesn't know any English. So she had her coworker help me out and I explained what had happen. They then made me a new drink as I watched. Imagine if that employee was sick or had COVID. We are in a pandemic and she had the audacity to do that to a customers drink. I used to love this place but it has gone down hill. I went in today at lunch and the waitress seemed upset and was rude. I ordered my pho and she replied with, "Do you want something else?" I added a $7 coconut pineapple smoothie that tasted like it was mostly ice and water, no flavor to it. I thought about complaining but the language barrier would have been too much to deal with and instead finished my pho and went to pay my $21 check. The pho was alright - I seem to remember it tasted better and came with more than one slice of lemon. Before anyone cites the economy and inflation, I will add that there prices increased 20%. I had to wait for about 10 minutes even though there was no line. I took my drink with me in order to give it a second chance. Maybe it was the atmosphere and negative energy that made it taste so bad. I wish! I took a couple of sips as I drove off and concluded it was definitely not the atmosphere. It was gross! I ended up throwing it away at my next stop. Sorry, I understand times are tough. But that goes both ways. I was willing and did pay your increased prices. PROS: Nice layout inside the restaurant (not crowded sitting). Well lit. Portion of small pho is equivalent to large pho of pho lucky. Disposable chopsticks. CONS: Lackluster flavor of food. Slightly more expensive than competition ($0.50-$0.75). Parking space is somewhat limited. No culantro :). First of all a good vietnamese restaurant should have a very good beef soup if not better than the competition if they want to stay in business, so I will be more focused on the beef soup (pho) on this review. Tip! Their no. 19 (house special) pho comes only in large! If you want small size you have to order no. 20 then just add beef balls on the side ($01.50) 4 cuts. The broth is lacking in flavor (bland). The meat are well portioned with the rice noodle but some of the meat specially the tendon and flank has the funky metallic taste to it. The garnish (bean sprouts and basil) is only good for one person. All in all my experience is nostalgic because the taste of the food pretty much taste like the previous restaurant's pho (pho 888). Hell even one of the server was the server of the previous restaurant. Which makes me think that they might have hired the same people who cooked the food of the previous restaurant. The only change is the portion of the soup what lacks on quality they make up for quantity but ultimately FLAVOR of the food comes first, everything comes second. Hopefully they will work on improving the flavor of their broth because it is really lacking in taste. My other suspect is the brand of noodles they use. It seems like they are using the cheapest rice noodle they can find. Conclusion: NOT WORTH A BUY! read more

I have tried several of their dishes and none has disappointment me. I go their at lease once a week or once every other week. They serve a wide range of variety Vietnamese dishes on their menu. Their were some dishes I have not seen at any of the other pho restaurants in town. The service is always wonderful despite the little English the workers are able to speak. I love eating here. I either get the mac pho or the #13 pho. I always add a hot chili oil, fish sauce, and hoisin sauce in my pho if the broth is not too salty. The spring rolls come with peanut sauce and it's very good. I had the golden bag appetizer too, very crunchy. It tasted like a crunchier egg roll in a sack form. Lol I really love their salads. I had A20 chicken breast cabbage salad and A21 brown chicken salad. They are so crunchy and delicious and fresh. If you love vinegar in your salad, these are go-to's. :) it's also a very good portion size. The only thing I didn't like here so far is the rice poridge. It didn't really have any flavor, and when I tried to sauces to it, it was still bleh. Their service is really nice but you might have to ask for a refill on your water. We always have to ask, even when we leave our empty cups at the end of our table. The place is a nice size and it looks clean. You can tell it's a family run business. Why not help them out? After running errands with my sis we decided to have some Vietnamese noodle. My sis has taken me to this place before, but she mentioned that they have changed the name several times. Anyways, the restaurant is clean and the parking lot is small. It is located in Hammer Lane which is across the street from Walmart. The phó has always been good here. I decided to try the fish meat balls but I was not a fond of the texture. I sort of miss living in Stockton because there are stores and restaurants at every corner and it's such a small city. read more

Authentic pho noodles and bun bo hue. The food was delicious and the portions are very generous. The large size noodles are huge! Service was fast and very friendly. This is the best Pho in Stockton. I'm super picky about mine and this place meets my expectations EVERY time. For some reason most places out here put cinnamon in their broth and I'm NOT a fan at all. Here doesn't do that, just like the Bay Area Pho I'm used to. I get the seafood combo and my hubby gets the raw steak and we both love them. Their spring rolls are yummy along with their sauce for it. I've been to a lot of Pho places in Stockton and hands down this one is the best! Number one is the CUSTOMER SERVICE is amazing! Usually Pho places treat you like trash with little to no importance. I always felt unloved and unwanted. At this place I actually felt cared for. You can tell from the start that they are genuinely happy to help. Plus I asked for extra lemon and they actually have me more than 2 slices. The shakes are so good! I recommend the strawberry one it tastes like strawberries and cream. read more
