Horrible! Never again! Took an hour to get 2 burgers, chicken fingers and a grilled cheese to our table. Burgers were over cooked dry and flavorless. Fries were the worst I ever had. My husband and I LOVE Macado's and have eaten at most of the locations starting with the ones in Blacksburg and Radford where we went to college and stopping at others on our travels throughout the years. The one at this location is suffering. I had actually been here before and left underwhelmed but it had been several years, so I thought I would give it another try. We ordered two of our old favorites and were served what looked similar to what we remembered but with prepackaged cold cuts and cheap frozen rib meat chicken. It was very disappointing as the sandwiches weren't at all like they used to be. I hope their cutting corners in the food department is not a new trend for all of their restaurants. Not to mention, the hostess was one of the most unfriendly greeters I have ever encountered and the service was extremely slow. They weren't busy as we came in about 3:30 pm for a late lunch. Just a few words of wisdom here: Service is slow, But the food is delicious. You should call for your check While you wait for your dishes. The imagery is nice, It will suffice, For the wait time that makes you Sit there all night. I've heard service is great, And service is bad, So "hit or miss" is my opinion, Leaning to "miss" just a tad. I ate a wrap, while everyone else ate sandwiches or something similar. Yes, everyone enjoyed their food. Considering the restaurant service is "hit or miss" I recommend finding the perfect time to eat there and only visiting when time permits. Bad service. Obviously untrained. I ordered the Chicken Alfredo which comes with a salad. I also put in an order for soft pretzels so my daughter could start eating. We waited and waited for our food to arrive, only to have the pretzels, salad, and our main meals ALL come out at the same time. Another guest at our table had to wait another 5 minutes for her meal to come out. In the meantime, earlier, waiting for our food our server, Omar, didn't check on us one time and we had empty drink glasses. We all finished our meals, not one plate was cleared from the table, we were checked on one time through our meal, but not until we had finished eating, then I had to ask for my check. Everything felt like it was in slow motion. I overheard him say to another server that he only had 4 tables. Once I received my check I was given the option by the server to pay up front or pay him, I paid him, and he came back with change and no receipt, and... a handful of nickels because he said the drawer was out of enough change. I asked for a receipt which I got, but there was no paid balance, it just showed how much I was paid, and not how much the change was. (Not that I can't do the math, but its the principal) Fast forward to 5 am. I wake up with horrible stomach pains and have to make an emergency bathroom call. Obviously it was something I ate. Their new Chicken Quesadilla is amazing. Coupled that with their banging cheese fries, it's my absolutely favorite place to chill with friends, listen to good music, laugh my ass off and stuff my face with the most heartiest, melty, delicious food imaginable. I arrived at the restaurant with a party and ready to hang out. The server told us she was not allowed to serve beer or wine due to her age. I was told I could move to the bar and be served there. My party moved to the bar and found a table. Upon finding a table we were then told we could only be served water because we had alcoholic beverages before arriving. Keep in mind we were not being loud or belligerent upon arrival just a group having fun. I spoke with the bartender who stated we could have water but thats it. Our group was calm and tried to understand what was happening. There were people drinking at the bar and having fun while we were there. They spoke to the women in our group with disrespect and did not care about customer service. Jamie was the bartender who stated we had drinks prior to showing up and could not drink there. We wanted dinner and a drink but could not have that because Jamie said we could only have water. Please stay away from this restaurant and bar. Terrible place at all levels. Yes, it is full of Liberty Kids and the town drunks. Just like any other establishment in Lynchburg, the BAR is full of regulars and thats were the servers and wait staff hang out flirting or talking to the customers and or bartender & bar maid. Walked out after looking around for help and saw the hostess and servers flirting and hanging over a guest at the bar. We were seated in a reasonable timeframe. The waitress, Aiyana, was one of the most pleasant people I've met in months. I could tell she was fairly new, and took a little too long to make first contact, but she won us over with her infectious smile and personality. Once engaged, she was quick and efficient. I was less impressed with the bartender, as my LIT was a little off but the lack of heavy syrup often found was actually refreshing. But, was weak. I've had more than I care to admit from all around, I have to say I was disappointed. My shot I later ordered was a little short, and my beer lacked a proper head. The food was decent. I couldn't tell if the broccoli was fresh or frozen, but I'm leaning frozen. If that's the case, at least they bought the good stuff that makes it harder to tell. The Mac n cheese on it's own was ok, and the grilled chicken lacked seasoning. A heavy dash of salt and pepper after getting it made it palatable. I think topping with a parmesan bread crumb mix would take it places. I will be back to try a couple other items, though. read more

This is normally a great place to go grab lunch after a hockey game. Unfortunately yesterdays service and food quality will not have us coming back anytime soon. Waited 10 mins to get a waiter to get our drink order so we order our drinks, apps and meal at the same time. It took 5 mins to get some of our drinks but I had to go to the bar to get my sons sprite after waiting 5 more minutes for it to be delivered. Napkins and silverware were never brought to the table so asked for that from the bartender. The apps took 20 plus minutes to get the table including a bowl of soup. The food took over 30 minutes and we ordered 2 sandwiches, a bowl of chili and a grilled chicken salad. one of the toasted sandwiches was soggy on the bottom and the other was not warm anymore. First time stopping here for lunch with a friend. Just wanted a nice lunch with a good atmosphere. The person that waited on us was a bit sloppily dressed...dress shirt that was not tucked in and a tie. Not exactly what I thought was appropriate for a restaurant. After receiving my lunch which was a Rubin sandwich, it was very soggy and I was not offered any silverware to cut cut the meat that was very tough. Not much taste so very disappointed. Our server was not very attentive, seemed like he was busy with staff members, laughing and not really paying attention to customers. Anyway, after getting our checks, my friend paid with cash and I paid with a credit card. Once getting the receipts back, my friend noticed her bill was more than mine and it should have been less. Had a great waiter named Bob that kept us laughing. Good sandwiches at a good price. Highly recommend the mushroom burger. My experience at this establishment was horrific. I was told I had to wait 30 minutes with a less than half full restaurant because the cooks were "overwhelmed". Then they forget our drinks, we cancelled them and just ordered water. The whole time the bartender was doing nothing and poured himself a drink. We then placed our orders and waited 30+ minutes for an underwhelming meal. The roast beef sandwich was bland and the chicken tasted frozen and low quality/grade. I requested silverware(which they forgot), napkins, ketchup, and bacon because none of that came with my meal. We rarely saw the server and she just apologized every time we requested something. We gave up and just asked for the check, the check charged us double on our sandwiches and we just said forget it and left. I was excited to go because I had gone to multiple other Macado's but this one was just terrible, I blame management. read more

Back in the day the service was fantastic and I always wanted to go on kids night and anytime I hung out with friends. 2 months ago I went, the place was near dead. The service was more concerned with talking to the bar tender (who was busy with customers) then getting my order. It took ten minutes for my drinks (I was her only customer). And 40 minutes for my food. We ordered nachos and kids meals.. how does that take 40 minutes? I waited 2 months and hoped to regain my memories from 'back in the day' and came again a week ago on Tuesday (kids night). We waited at the hostess stand 10 minutes before being greeted. They were busy. We waited 20 minutes for seat, dispite 6 groups leaving only one got sat before us. Our server walked by us several times before telling us it would be a minute, ten minutes later she got out drink and food order at once. Our drinks came 20 minutes later, my husband had to go to bar to get his beer it took so long. 50 minutes after drink the 3 kids meals came. Cold macncheese and too hot fries. Really? Their mac n cheese has melted cheese on top. The thought of how long it sat under a warmer toget cold is disgusting. Our server was the worst I've had. Ever. Ever ever. Our food didn't come. When my husband FINALLY found our server chilling and talking to other servers at foot of bar (where the 2nd beer he ordered 15 minutes before was sitting getting hot) he told her to cancel the order for food since it still hadn't come. About that time they brought two nachos out saying it was ours. I didn't order nachos. He ordered nachos. I ordered quesdilla. The manager looked fresh out of high school and scaredto talk to customers. He took our food off, but charged for those nasty cold kids meals. The only reason we came, remember, was kids eat free with paying adult. We ordered food. They never brought it. I recommend applebees, people. Tuesday, their kids eat free too. Oh boy, where to start. I was trying to find a place to take a good friend for his 21st birthday and my girlfriend has been in Lynchburg for 20 years and suggested Macado's. She loved it a few years ago and we walked into a nightmare. We had two friends waiting there for us for about an hour and they had not received their beer pitcher. We sit down and the group behind us calls for a manager and complains that they had not received any food in almost TWO hours. My girlfriend ordered Bacardi and coke and our waiter had never heard of Bacardi and my girlfriend had to repeat herself at least 5 times and then spell it out. My party of seven moved to the bar hoping to get better service and we didn't meet a bartender until about ten minutes of waiting. He showed up very unhappy and took our orders for about 6 shots. He didn't know the ingredients and I had to hand him my menu so he could read them. They had a wing deal going on until 7 so a friend that was waiting had ordered hers around 5 and asked if the deal would still be honored because it was now past 7 and she hadn't received them. The bartender said he had to go ask the manager and he walked into the back without ever making our drink orders. We then saw him walking to several different areas with orders and he never even looked towards us. We decided to get up and leave and left our sodas and the warm beer pitcher we finally received on the bar. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Just to be clear, they had plenty of wait staff and kitchen personnel to accommodate the amount of customers. It was just a poorly run, poorly managed crap hole with illiterate employees who didn't know themselves form a hole in the ground. Awful experience, I really wish I could put zero stars. We ended up going to Buffalo Wild Wings and it was awesome, poor Macado's lost a 500 dollar tab. Oh well. read more

Our local news just reported this morning that someone was fired for a racial slur that was on a receipt for a take out order. This is why I stopped going there several years ago. My husband and I used to place take out orders. One time I went to pick up our order, it took 2 people to go get 2 sodas for the people in front of me picking up their order. They are standing at the register eating their take out order.....I'm waiting and waiting for the 2 hostesses to get back with 2 drinks.......while my take out order is beside the register getting cold. Poor customer service, I later called and talked to the manager.....nothing was done. Another time, my husband went to pick up our take out order....the hostess was helping everyone but him! She even helped people that came in after him! He called and talked to the manager...nothing was done! We have not been back, this happened about 2 years ago.
