Let me start by saying that I am a very easy-going restaurant patron. I typically only get on here to leave praise for places. However, I am leaving this review to warn others about one of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever had in my life. We were a party of 9 and arrived shortly after 6pm on a Saturday in February. The restaurant was half empty. Despite this, they told us they could not seat our party at any of the large empty tables that could have accommodated us because, "the waiters were fighting." Instead, they split us into two groups, at separate tables on separate checks. They then cleared the large tables and seated another party several minutes later. After making our orders, including an order of mac and cheese for our 3 year old, we waited close to TWO hours before ANY food was brought out. We did not make any special requests or orders, but every order that made it to the table was wrong. We saw other tables get seated and get their food before any was brought to us. We left after 2 and half hours, and in that time, we still never got one of our entrees. An order of buffalo wings. When we asked about it two hours in, we were told they were "taking a minute." We asked to speak to a manager, something I have only done one other time in my life. We were told he was busy. Someone finally came out, and said that they were busy because the restaurant was full. I pointed out that about 9 of the booths in our area were complete empty. He wanted to argue with me that there was a whole other half of the restaurant (which was also half empty by the way). He said he would discount the bill. When he brought the bill, it included several drinks we never ordered, and food we ordered but never got. He said that he would take off the charges for the food we never received, as if he was doing us a favor. At the end, he took $16 off our bill. I asked several times for the name of the "manager" we spoke with but was literally ignored when I asked. I will never be coming back here and do not see how this place even stays in business. I have been to the one in Vinton and it is the complete opposite. This place is a dump full of rude and incompetent staff. Please avoid. read more

I asked to talk to the supervisor and he walked up, apologized, and left without taking our plates or asking if i wanted anything else. Thankfully he took it off my bill. Our server was kind and learning the job well. But if it wasnt clear: i do not recommend. Took almost 2 hours for us to finally get out of there. This place is known for being slow and usually terrible service. I used to work there and that experience isnt much better except for the friends you make,which were great. So, I ordered door dash tonight at 9 50p.m. the poor girl headed to the restaurant maybe 20mins later. She was handed my food at 10:40. It was APPITIZER, yall!!!!! So she headed my way and I was eating at 11:00. I got the beer cheese and soft pretzels. When they got here they were barely warm and the beer cheese is just like regular ol' nacho cheese. The sandwiches were really good when I worked there so I cant knock those. But an hour for some heated up pretzels and cheese is ridiculous. I will not eat there in the future. Just went to Macado's yesterday and had a great experience! Our waiter was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. He kept our waters were filled and gave us a huge amount of napkins when our food came out.. The food took some time because they suddenly had a wave of people enter and the kitchen was doing its best. (I am not sure how long because we were having a great time talking, but it was not long enough for us to to be wondering where our food was) My sister had the KC's Chicken Mac n Cheese. It was not in our opinion the best mac n cheese ever, but it was good. Her friend had the chicken fingers which were excellent and came with four tenders. I had the Brooklyn Bridge at the recommendation of our waiter. It was so satisfying and delicious. The Macado's sauce on the sandwich is horseradish according to the waiter. I asked for it on the side but I think they forgot it. However, I don't really like horseradish to begin with and I was already throughly enjoying the sandwich. The star of the show was our dessert, the Cinnamon Sensation! It is a perfectly cinnamony roll topped with frosting, vanilla ice cream, and whipped cream. We split it three ways and were in heaven! Service was way too slow. Arrived at 8:30 on a Tuesday night. Very few people were in the restaurant. Took forever to get a table. 45 minutes to get our food. Waitress told us they didn't have any onions because they were having a salmonella issue. I can't get beyond the poor experience to even begin to rate the food. I'm sure the food is fine. We were told it would be a 45m wait. After 35 min, we started walking around. The restaurant was empty!! One large party was finishing up. Tables open everywhere. They said the kitchen was backed up, but with what?! Apparently take-out and DoorDash. Oh, only 1 take out order was picked up in the 45m we stood there. At 45m we asked when we would be seated and were told "not soon". We couldn't figure out what exactly the staff was doing?! Certainly not serving customers. This Macados needs to be shut down. I've been to Macado's multiple times and i've never had a problem up until tonight. My boyfriend, two of my friends and I came around 9pm and waited for our drinks for about 20 minutes and when we got our drinks, we were then informed that we wouldn't be receiving any food for 30-45 minutes because the kitchen was so backed up. We had no issue with that and we agreed to wait and we placed our order. Our food came out one by one and the issues started piling up. The chicken fingers tasted like fish, my friend asked for no bacon on her salad and got it anyway, we asked for ranch multiple times and my burger was no where near medium well like I asked for. We were stared at by the woman who sat us and it wasn't anything minor, it was a hard stare that made us uncomfortable but we disregarded it. We were then approached by the woman who sat us and she told us and I quote, "I'm gonna have to ask you guys to leave. We don't have a server willing to serve you anymore." My boyfriend kindly asked why we were being asked to leave and she said, "I'm not sure, that's just what the manager asked me to say." We respectfully got up, went to the front and waited for the manager. He told us that he did not say that, he said he told her to ask us what the problem was because we were obviously upset. I actually loved my sandwich (The Ragtime) but the service knocks down my rating significantly. -Ordered fruit as a side, received chips -Napkins no where to be found... Asked for a refill on water that never came. -Very very slow. Took food quite a while to come out (our order was a sandwich, chicken tenders, and a hot dog). Waiter forgot about us sometimes. Our waitress was very nice and accommodating. The food was not great! This Macado's gives the chain a bad name. My sweet potato fries were over-cooked and the bun on my sandwich was charred. I am SHOCKED to see this place has such a low rating on Yelp!?!? I visited Lynchburg for 2 days and had Macado's the last day I was here. Regrettably so; if I had eaten here the first day I wouldn't have eaten anywhere else. I ordered the French dip with sweet potato fries and I can honestly say it was one of the best French dips I have EVER had! And we had it door dashed... the sweet potato fries we're actually sweet potato waffle fries and they were crispy and just *chefs kiss*. The Auju was THE BEST PART, ugh, I just cannot say enough about it. I feel like I could have eaten it as a soup alone. It had such a deep flavor and had chunks of onions in it that were perfect to top on my next bite. I literally made myself sick because I had to eat the whole thing. We also ordered cheesecake and I haven't eaten it yet because I'm still so full from my food but I have absolutely no doubt it will be amazing as well. 10/10, highly recommended. read more

We were taking my brother to college Down here and had no other options so we took a drive down to good old reliable Macado's a first look it wasn't busy so we came at 8 and expected a quick dinner and go get ice cream after we ordered traditional macodoos meal and after 30 mins here it is my brother got a Mac and cheese burger and said it tasted like it was boiled after 1 week I got the wings I go in for a big bite and a layer of fat it was gross we went in too the bathroom and my mother said the bathroom was quote covered in trash and two of the toilets were clogged with trash and my sisters babe Ruth sandwich the cheese was melted but it was somehow cold they at least could've heated it up in the good old mic and the quesadilla was quote as wet as the bathroom floor and this is how you know it's bad the water tasted like toilet water and after and hour our check was here I feel bad for this nice little server who has to work at this establishment read more

The food is good prices are reasonable. I believe they are old restaurant that relies on old clientele and word of mouth. They need some upgrades bathroom, the sign in the front and the decor. Maybe raise the prices a little hire more staff. And be more generous with the condiments on the food my sandwich need some more mayo my wife needed my bbq. This place has a cool little atmosphere. There is a bunch of cool pictures and old movie posters and even some Simpson's stuff being displayed. It's pretty cool. Been staying at the Fairfield Inn and taking my sons here for over six years. Each time it continues to drop. Today was the lowest ever. Food was a one star, service a one star. Usually when we come here the food is on time and really good . For some reason tonight was not a good night . I don't know if it was the cook or the server . My Fiancé and his sisters food came out 40 min after ordering it. My food came out 1 and 20 mins from the time I ordered. And it was cold . I almost didn't go to this place due to a number of recent 1-star reviews--most of which focus on slow/bad service. I've been to other Macado's before, but never this one, so I know what to expect as far as the menu and food quality go. Anyway, my girlfriend really wanted Macado's and they only do take-out currently due to Coronavirus. So I call them and place an order. The guy on the phone was really pleasant and friendly. He told me the food would be ready in about 30 minutes. Granted that isn't exactly fast, but I consider it acceptable. I showed up to the place right at the thirty minute mark. I literally only saw one employee--presumably the guy who answered the phone--he was courteous and professional. Most importantly, the food was ready when I got there and it was of high quality. The only reason I'm not going five stars is the thirty-minute wait. My only comment would be that the place seems understaffed. The food was really good, and there is a good chance I will go back next time I'm in Lynchburg. read more

The place does not smell very clean(which a lot of commercial restaurants dont) and I just witnessed the manager pick up napkins off the floor and put them in the napkin holder! My family and I visited this place recently to have 1 birthday drink, ONE. We stood at the bar for quite some time (15-25 minutes) while the woman bartender provided drinks to everyone else but us. We are a patient family and respectful so after this LONG time waiting both my mother and father asked warmly can we be served... No reply by bartender... Not even a "I'll be right with you". So after the THIRD TIME AND 20 MINUTES LATER... my mother took it up a notch and asked why weren't we being served and everyone else is. The bartender replied RUDELY "I'm busy". This place is the pits. As a food delivery driver this place always has an excuse as to why they can't get the food out on time, even when there's almost no one in the place. The food looks like it was all frozen, the decor is out dated and dusty, the floors are disgusting win black crud built up every where entry carpets are disgusting, front desk is a cluster, and about 50/50 of the staff won't even acknowledge you, never seen anyone that even resembles a manager. By no means would I voluntarily come here to eat and if I could avoid doing food delivery from this place I would. Going on 45 minutes waiting for a small order on a dead night at the restaurant. Macado's is a classic place, can't argue with that. The prices are great and it's always there if you need it. However, my recent experience wasn't that great. We tried to get 100 boneless wings for their Thursday special. They told us on the phone that they try and save them for dine-in customers. They then said that I couldn't order that many over the phone. Eventually I was told that they didn't have enough left for us to get that many, so I just ordered 20. Then my friend went there in person and put in an order for 80 of them no problem, so that was puzzling. We got the wings and they were fine, although on the small side. However, mine were plain with the sauce on the side. I enjoy my wings soaked in sauce. I think they did this because I got 2 sauces, but nonetheless, gotta have the wings in the sauce. We also got some extra bleu and it was 3$ for each container of it! Even so, that bleu is amazing and I still am working on a tub of it. Take in my...this is directly across the street from Liberty University...wow so many things I could say about this place but I'm not reviewing Liberty as I chose not to apply &/or attend after realizing it was a "dry" campus/super religious. Macado's is just a smaller version of a TGIF or Applebee's but the food is better, I'll admit, and there are about a thousand different options for types of sandwiches you can order. I order the Titanic, basically a french dip, the au jus tasted like french onion soup that was horrible seasoned but I still ate it with no problem because the sandwich was lacking any flavor. The redeming factor was that my dining partner ordered some type of concoction on an everything bagel with turkey and cheese and bacon...it was really good and he also ordered a side of their potato salad aka THE BEST potato salad i've had in a very long time. Wow, disgusting is really the only word to describe. We arrived around 415pm on a Sunday and no hostess. About 8min later a waiter showed us to a booth which was nasty. She was nice but nose piercings do not belong in restaurant or any customer service business. This is my opinion. The restaurant had not been cleaned in a decade. What a great sandwich! I travel and lot and always try new places. This place did not disappoint. I almost did not go because of the reviews, but we are all glad we did. The fries were piping hot and crunchy. The menu was huge but focused and my sandwich filled me up for the rest of the day! We all had specialty sandwiches and all were great. A solid 4 stars as we did not care for the slaw and we didn't have a choice for fries with our sandwich. But I would definitely go back and recommend to others! read more

The food was decent. The only drawback was that we went on a night where ~40 high schoolers were celebrating something and were all paying in cash (imagine the wait staff making change...). There was also another big group occupying the wait staff and being really loud. Thus we waited 1.5 hours to eat... Had we not been there with a group of friends and ordered drinks, we would have probably walked out. I would give this place another shot because the food is cheap and good. Macado's offers a pub experience which is fun when looking for a place to hang out and watch a game or meet up with friends for a few drinks. It is a different experience when you're ordering take-out. Seems the place is a little slow with calling in an order and I had to repeat myself several times when placing the order. The order taker was too busy playing with someone while on the phone and she couldn't focus on getting the order right. Also, she was less than helpful with the menu since she said "we have a lot of sandwiches - what do you want?" O.K. I don't have a menu so I winged it and opted for a classic Rueben and a cheeseburger to go. I left out the fries on the original order and called back to add the fries to the order. Needless to say, the fries were not included in my order. O.K. Strike two.... The order was still hot and fresh but it would have been nice to get all that I asked for. read more

Terrible. Margarita was undrinkable. Wings were encased in a layer of squishy fat. Nachos were cold. The deep fried frozen cheese sticks were the only edible thing we ordered. Goose on rocks? I've been eating at Macado's since the early 80's, and to this day it remains one of my favorite restaurants. If you're in the mood for sandwiches, this is THE place to go! Take one look at the menu, and you will understand why. They have got to offer at least 40-50 sandwich options, as well as quesadillas, salads, fajitas, and to-die-for desserts. The French Twist alone, is reason enough to eat here! If it's up your alley, the bar offerings are also very good. The service might be slow; but the drinks are usually well made and they often have seasonal drinks for the holidays. The beer and wine selections are not exceptional, but are a lot better than your typical mall-restaurant offerings. More likely than not, you'll find something you like. read more
