This is an local own pastries in the heart of Town Center VA Beach and own by Elena. She was so accommodating. We did tried the macarons, danish and and chicken croissants. I must say the chicken croissants was so delicious!. The ambiance is a French style. She also offers baking baking class, QR code is attached if you're interested . We probably go back here.

Macarons are one of my favorite desserts ever. I came across this cute little place just walking around Town Center and I've got to say it's realllly good! This little shop is owned by a lovely couple who takes pride in their baking (as they should)! Elena (the owner) specializes in macarons and pastries, however she also sells cookies, scones, tarts (sweet and savory), tea and coffee. I've gone a few times and one day she was actually hosting a birthday party, high tea style which I thought was super cute! She mentioned she also does bridal showers, corporate events and cooking classes as well. The shop is very-well maintained, clean and professional! The food I've tried (some macarons and tarts) were super delicious. I'm not big on fruity macarons but Elena had me try a black currant macaron and it was one of the most delicious flavors I've tried! The flavors of her macarons definitely come through and they are the most delicate. Her tarts were also super flaky and buttery and rich! Her pricing is a little on the higher end compared to other bakeries but I don't mind it given the quality. I also happened to take her macaron baking class as a gift for my birthday! It was definitely quite an experience, as she is a VERY intense and passionate about her baking! Her personality is very strong and it could be quite intimidating but deep down she is actually very nice. Her class was about $110 per person but having taken the class and looking back I'd say it was a bit too pricey. She will not book a class unless you have 4 or more people in your party. I found it was kind of hard to reach her via phone if her bakery was busy, so we had to call quite. a. bit. to get through to try and book the class. The class was a bit chaotic if I'm being honest. The instruction was purely verbal, she would demonstrate what you are supposed to do and you were to mimic her shortly after, however I found that she was going kind of fast and not pausing when it was our turn to mimic her. We found ourselves trying to play catch up because she was moving onto next steps before we finished the initial ones! She was also tending to customers coming through the shop during instruction (which don't get me wrong is fine!) but she would come back into the kitchen and say "whoops sorry I forgot to lock the door during our class!" and never ended up locking the door... so she did this about 3-4 times during instruction and apologized for "not locking the door during the class" each time. I understand if you're trying to keep you're business going, but the integrity wasn't there for me and that is what I didn't love. I think it would have been better for her to schedule classes when her husband is there to back her up and not when she is running the shop by herself. The macarons we made during her class turned out pretty well, I ended up with about a dozen in total. She gave us the recipe on our way out (or she had us take a picture of it at least). The instructions are very minimal and I think this would have been more helpful to give to us at the start of the class rather than at the end, in the event she was going too fast or a step was missed. The class could use some improvement, but overall I do support and recommend this family business, as their pastries are delicious.

Beautiful shop with very friendly owner. We took a class with the owner and learned how to make our own macaroons. She was very patient and great with instructions. The macaroons were delicious as well as the other deserts behind the counter. Highly recommended!

I will start by saying I actually used to work right across the street when Macaron Tart first opened and I have always been highly impressed with everything I've ever ordered! The owner was always there when I stopped by and was always very sweet to me and always recommended something amazing for a quick lunch break! Fast forward today : (about 4 years since I've been in) I was planning on taking my 5 yr old daughter on an afternoon tea date and another cute little tea house I found only to find out that they were closed for a private event. My daughter was obviously disappointed and I felt pretty terrible for not making a reservation. Panicking to come up with a solution for my disappointed little one I remembered that my favorite little macaron place served tea! I called and asked if there was anyway we could do a last minute high tea. The man on the phone (who turned out to be the owners husband) explained to me they usually ask for the high teas to be reserved ahead of time to ensure the items are prepared fresh for the tea. However, he did tell me to come on in and there were other pastries and macarons readily available! I told him that was perfectly fine and we were on our way. *sigh of relief* We get there and my daughter was overjoyed to see all of the goodies! He promptly offered us a selection of teas and prepared it for us. I asked if there was a set menu for the food, he explained to me since they weren't prepared for us they didn't have the lunch items usually served with the tea ready and that we were more than welcome to make selections from the counter and he would serve us. My daughter was very excited to make her selections from the counter. I asked for a bacon, egg, and cheese croissant and he happily prepared one for us! Long story short I just wanted to say thank you so much to the owner's husband for saving our tea date! He was beyond accommodating and sweet. And yes the food is still amazing!

My daughter and i stopped by Macaroon and Tart for some yummy treats. We were greeted right away when we entered. The restaurant is a cute place with french decor. The owner is very big on letting you know French is a better quality of food... Lol.. Everything i asked about she said no no its french so the ingredients are better. So ok!! I guess i gotta get to France or I'm missing out!! Lol. There were cookies, fruit tarts, macaroons, quiches, and more. She gave me a sample of the berry tart and it was surprisingly delicious. Its a dessert i don't normally gravitate to, but i will now. The prices are a little high for some items. I paid $10 for 2 cookies and the tart was $9.90. The cookies were pretty big though so i got over it. The cookies did taste good. The macaroons being about $3 per, had very very little filling. I mean barely any. But they do taste good. I got 2 s'mores macaroons but realized when i left i was given a plain chocolate one instead. So i went back to get the correct one. Instead of just letting me keep the 1 that was incorrect she put her bare hands into my bag and took it out and placed it on the counter... Really?? For my trouble she could've just left it and gave me the right one.. Its gonna get thrown away anyways... (Dun dun dun, or is it?)lol. J/k. My daughter was extremely turned off by it... I ate it and just prayed over it.. That macaroon is gone! Lol! Although i wished she handled it differently i appreciate her resolving it. They have high tea, which sounds fun. You get an assortment of desserts, sandwiches, quiche or etc. But it is pretty pricey. So I'd probably only do it for a special occasion. The s'mores tart looked really good, I'm gonna try that next time. Everything she had displayed did look yummy... She also offers a variety of different baking classes. The macaroon class is $110 per person. I don't know what the going rate is for a class but that's kinda a lot.. Its nice though that she does offer that. I'd probably take the class if it were a little cheaper. I'm sure I'll go back.. Check them out!!!

The Macaron were average, nothing to brag about. I guess I'm just used to Hummingbird Bird's were you can taste the the flavors. These were just boring and not worth the price. The service kinda threw us off, also the cashier, She removed the samples off the counter, like she thought we were going to take all of them! What in the world!! I paid and hurried out! Praying that Hummingbird will reopen soon!!

    | MACARON SAMPLER PACKS |
    Ashley K.

I stopped by here with a friend in the afternoon and we ordered the macaron sampler packs, in which we were able to choose any pre-packaged box displayed at the front. Each box contained a slightly varied assortment of six macarons; my top favorites were the black currant and lavender macarons. ‣ QUALITY - Each macaron was soft, true to flavor, and delightfully light! They also had a satisfying cookie-to-filling ratio in which I especially enjoyed the gel and cream fillings as they were light yet still enriching. ‣ AMBIENCE - It was very comfortable, quiet, and calming. ‣ SERVICE - Super! The young lady working was very sweet and knowledgable, providing helpful information on the classes they offer. Overall, I was impressed by the quality of the macarons, the knowledgable service, and the noticeable cleanliness of the store. While I have not tried their other items, I would realistically come back--solely for the macarons--when in Town Center with others!

My mom and I decided to stop by this place for the first time today because we were in the area and she has a sweet tooth. It is a nice little place for dessert and coffee. My mom purchased some macaroons and I had the chocolate blackberry tart. The tart was really good. I was taken aback because I asked the lady that works there if she sells iced coffee and she said no. It was really hot outside and I needed something to cool me down. It is also a bit pricey, but it was worth it.

I dunno. I was kinda put off when we walked in. It just was not the best customer service. When we walked in we were greeted, but felt rushed looking at the pastries. We decided on a 6 pack of macarons. There was maybe 5-6 flavors my husband was not impressed with the amount of flavors offered. The flavors were lemon, apricot, vanilla, raspberry, and I think one more. They were not bad tasting, I will say that. But, after I paid the employee which I think was the owner went straight to a table she was sitting at and spoke to a woman who may have been an employee. I say that because she said, "yeah I can come in and cover for you so you can leave at 3 that day." On top of that she did not have a mask on. I just was not getting good vibes inside, especially all things covid. I dunno, maybe it was just an off day.

My husband surprised me with a chocolate tart from this bakery. It comes in a pretty box. The tart is gorgeous with a ring of assorted macarons. I'm brimming with anticipation. I know this is going to be the real deal! The macarons are light, slightly chewy, a touch too sweet, with the citrus and berry flavors such as lime and raspberry, bursting in my mouth. Good start. The chocolate is rich and creamy, surprisingly subtle with sweetness. Nice. Then, the tart. I've reveled in the delight of tarts in Paris, Chamonix, and Vienna. The trademark of a tart is the buttery, a little crunchy wonderfulness of French pastry which is typically much like shortbread. As we take our bites and begin to chew, our eyes meet, the jubilant air of the moment deflating, the tart is gummy and grainy. Not cooked through. Unpleasant. My husband wouldn't say but he felt it was quite pricey. It was a big disappointment for us.

We were able to use the back room in the cafe that had a large table and provided a cozy setting with lots of natural light coming through the windows and cute macaroon-shaped pillows on the chairs. We had hibiscus tea and peach tea for the table to share. The peach tea was everyone's favorite, it didn't even need any added sugar. It was served in cute pastel teapots, though one of the teapots had a chip at the spout which made me a little nervous. We also had macaroons made in-house for the table. I can't remember if I asked the staff if any of the macaroons were dairy free, but I asked my friends at the table and was told there was dairy in them. I later asked the staff if there was any food they offered that was dairy-free and they showed me their pastry counter but ultimately determined that everything offered had dairy, so all I had while at the café was the tea. The ladies I was with loved the macaroons. I wish I could have had some. I recommend at least 1-2 food options be added in the café for folks who have a dairy allergy. Café Genevieve provides a nice atmosphere for tea with a unique setting -- in a 1734 house that is decked out with Parisian decor. It's not the most private setting -- it got pretty noisy during our time there and there were a few interruptions to our conversation. We should have asked if we could have closed the door, because that definitely would have helped with noise and privacy. Overall, the customer service was great and the tea was really good! If you want to meet here for a private event, conversation, or just want some peace and quiet, that back room with the door closed could provide it. It's a nice café to check out.
