Crawfish appetizer has never failed to please. we weren't quite finished with it when waitress cleared it from table. The waitress was way more overbearing than I expected or anybody else in the party expected. Surprised for a Southern restaurant that thesweet tea tasted spoiled, and we had to have it replaced with sodas. This was at 4 o'clock in the afternoon so it should've been fairly fresh. the fried oysters were not too plentiful but very pleasing to a birthday girl. Red beans and rice had a speck of sausage in there which waitress quickly took care of by having more sausage cooked up and delivered to the table. Red beans and rice were a little bit dry, but I'm told they were fairly decent. Just not really up to what was expected for red beans and rice in a comparable establishment. The country fried steak came with brown gravy instead of the white cream gravy that is the usual gravy for such a dish. All in all it was a somewhat decent experience, but definitely well below par for an establishment with the reputation the white Cap has. read more

My wife and I have driven past this restaurant for eight years and decided to stop for lunch. We should have driven past. It took over 20 minutes for the food to come out and her Mahi was so overcooked it wasn't edible. The waitress replaced it with some fried catfish, within five minutes. Needless to say we won't be back. read more

The service, the food and the price is absolutely amazing . Oh my goodness, the chard broiled oysters were amazing. The soft shell crabs were cooked with love lol when I tell you huge is an understatement. The White Cap Seafood Restaurant is conveniently right off 90 with good parking and a fun nautical theme inside. Service was quick and friendly, and we started with the grilled oysters which were very good. The rest of our meal got mixed reviews. The red beans and rice lunch special was a bit bland, the stuffed shrimp were quite good, and the salads were fine. The hush puppies were also good. All-in-all, seems like a fine place, just a couple of misses on the menu. read more

Came to the Gulf Coast for my niece's wedding weekend with my husband. I grew up in South MS, so was excited to eat at some of the coast classic restaurants. We used to adore White Cap, but were so disappointed. We ordered crab claws, which were okay, but nothing special. My husband ordered the shrimp poboy, the bread was good, but the shrimp were tiny and obviously from frozen. He said he could get better shrimp back home in Charlotte. I ordered a bowl of seafood gumbo - which really was a bowl of rice and gravy with 5 tiny (from frozen) shrimp. No flavor, no taste of holy trinity. We also noted that one fish on the menu was imported swai- which is disgusting and cheap. We won't be back. It's obviously a tourist trap. read more

I was torn between 2 stars and 3 stars. Let's call this a 2.5 star rating; keep in mind that 3 stars usually means acceptable/okay/etc from me. White Cap has its good points, but unfortunately the negative point is one I weigh more heavily. Let's get the bad out of the way. I ordered a grilled fish sandwich and the fish was dry. It came with a cup of coleslaw, so I added a layer of it to the sandwich, but even that couldn't save it. I don't like wasting food, but dry meat/fish is something I put on par with bitter flavors, slimy textures, and cilantro: ick. I was only able to eat half, then ended up flagging down the waitress to mention the dry fish and request a cup of gumbo. Now for the good. Nice location! It's a beach-view restaurant with lots of windows to capitalize on its location, and the staff seems to make a point to sit people where they can enjoy the view when possible. The hostess and waitress were both very nice, and when I mentioned that the fish problem the waitress did offer to get me some crawfish cream sauce for the sandwich. Also, the side of potatoes and the cup of seafood gumbo that I had were pretty good. TL;DR = The staff and location/vibes were very good, but a subpar dish marred the experience. Steer clear of grilled fish and you'll probably have a better time. read more

The restaurant has a name and the menu could be good, but the food isn't good. The gumbo was tasteless.... The onion rings were very good and hot. Our entrees were bad. The grilled mahi-mahi with the crawfish Anthony was horrible. The fish was cooked till the last drop of moisture was gone and the sauce was separated. Ugh!!! My stuffed flounder had three bites of stuffing and the fish was tasteless. The potatoes were cold on both plates!!! However, the server was fantastic and super friendly. read more

This was my first time coming down the coast to White Caps, it was just okay. The view is great, and the restaurant is very clean and nicely decorated, the staff is very kind and inviting. It's not a fancy place by any means (which is a-okay with me, just thought I would mention) The food is just okay, there are so many restaurants between here and Bay St Louis... and many are better. I got the blacken redfish with parsley potatoes and coleslaw. The coleslaw was pretty good! The fish was sort of bland, and lacked flavor as did the potatoes. My husband got the bread pudding and it was fantastic, I highly recommend it! read more

Love the oysters here! Always fresh and tasty. The raw ones are cold and briny. The char-grilled ones are perfectly cooked with just the right amount of cheese along with toasted bread. Get a table by the windows for a great view of the gulf. Service is great. Much better than some of the chain type restaurants. PS. They also serve an amazing seafood platter. Very generous size. When we walked in, the atmosphere was great and everyone welcomed us. The decorations were beautiful and my daughter loved the fish tank. Unfortunately, that was the only thing we liked about this place. We ordered the crab fingers and they were sub par. My husband ordered the shrimp poyboy and he said it was not good at all, nor the side of fries he got. My daughter got the fish filet and she refused to eat it. I ordered the shrimp salad off the lunch menu and it wasn't bad, but not my favorite. We also notified the waitress that there was lipstick on my husband's cup and she said I'm sorry the dishwasher must have not gotten it all. We ate at the bar which we usually do everywhere, one reason being is the service is usually better at the bar. The service here was horrible though. The bartender wouldn't even acknowledge we had sat down for at least 10-15 minutes. We had to call out to her 3 times before she'd finally look in our direction. It was equally difficult to get our check and close out. Definitely avoid the onion rings. They were awful - clearly not fresh and tasted like they had been in a freezer for a few years. read more

We were so excited to try this restaurant, but sadly it was just not that great. We got oysters on the half shell, which were the star of the show. The fried pickles were tasty, but super greasy, the platter was covered in grease. My son ordered the seafood platter, which he was disappointed to learn was all fried. The stuffed crabs barely had any crab meat. I ordered two jumbo soft shell crabs. One was not very big and was missing it's legs. I was surprised that they were batter in cornmeal and fried. I don't know what I expected, but that's not a way I've ever seen soft shell crab prepared. The service was good, but the food was mediocre. read more

Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my husband and grandmother. We were seated quickly. It wasn't too busy when we came. I loved the aquariums and the view of the water. The menu seemed to have good options. I ordered the red beans & rice with the catfish. It took so long for our food to arrive. At least 30 mins. Once we received the food, it was so disappointing. My red beans weren't even warm. It's like they had been sitting for awhile. The fish was barley warm. I feel like it would have been good if it was served hot. My husband had tuna and fries, which were also cold. My grandmother enjoyed her pasta at least. Also when it was time to get the bill, we kept trying to get our waitress's attention, but she kept passing us by. Finally she came over.
