Good food and selection ! Good service and help if you go hungry it's your fault !!!!

Food isn't always fresh wait staff is decent but prices are reasonable especially for me being a single mother

We were in today Friday February 27th at 10am. I am being generous giving it two stars. The only reason I am giving it two stars is because the omelet my husband had cooked in front of him was good. That's where it ends. So much of the food looked like it had been reheated from the day before and I didn't take any of those items. The French toast was so dry I had trouble cutting it with a fork. They started bringing out the lunch food so I thought I would that a try hoping for better. The piece of meatloaf I got was mostly filler with a little meat. It had a really funky taste. The cake I got, I think it was a mocha cake or something like that was also very strange. As their prices go up and up they are getting more cheap food in that they no longer have to cook themselves. After spending nearly $30 I barely ate. Today was the final straw. We will not be back again. They are officially crossed off our list. read more

We had a senior coupon for the dinner buffet that was valid at the Joplin GC. They would not honor the coupon displayed on my phone. Coupon said good at this location. Said they would honor paper coupons only. Asked for the manager, cashier said the manager was busy, but confirmed that was the policy. To me this is bait and switch. I'm from California we have Hometown buffet there. Here it's Golden Corral. The other day we went out for my birthday and we decided on Golden Corral. It's amazing how a different restaurant a different state it's basically all the same. But the staff were on the ball to Make sure we had refills and if they could help with anything It was on a Sunday busy but not too bad and that night we decided on prime rib of course along with that we had baked chicken banana pudding nice slab of sliced ham and a Let me Telya we ate so much that it took us almost 2 days to eat again. We were so full we thought we were going to burst. So yes overall the food was good. I've seen other people's post about the buffet some good some bad but come on it's a buffet for crying out loud. I'm never expecting much from a Golden Corral other than I can make myself a great salad and the fried chicken is usually pretty good. This location though, WOW. Went over to the steak bar and they had smoked ribs and smoked pulled pork. Of course I'm thinking how good could either of those be from a Buffet joint? Well, pretty darn good. In fact, as far as the pulled pork goes, it was incredible. Fall off the bone tender, smoke ring, smoke taste. 3 BBQ sauces to go with it though it didn't need any sauce. It was juicy and tender. Incredible. So much for the fried chicken or the delicious looking pot roast I never got to try. I got full on the pulled pork. And desert? Old fashion, just like my Grandma used to make even though it's a PITA to make fudge. Not that crappy fudge so many places try to foist off as fudge anymore. They also had this double chocolate cake that was incredible. A delicious meal with great wait service bringing refills on drinks and cleaning off the old plates. read more

Eaten here plenty of times. As far as this location goes it's better than most of the others I've been too. I mean the food is what it is look at the price I'm not here expecting I'm at one of Gordon Ramsey's restaurants but good food good service and overall a pretty good place to hit if your in Joplin Area. read more

I used to love Golden Corral and buffets, but even though I was craving a buffet restaurant for lunch, I was very disappointed that the food here is mostly gross. You can get fresh foods on the salad bar, but the main foods like lasagna, chicken, mac n cheese etc are not tasty. Most are over cooked and tasteless. None the less, if you are on a budget and are really hungry, this isn't a bad place to try since it is all-you-can-eat. read more

We went on a Saturday evening to this popular all-you-can-eat chain and just should've known better. By reputation it's most popular with senior citizens and sports teams, both of which were represented in the chaos of our experience. It was loud, extremely crowded and more than I wanted to pay for a simple plate of food, but we were there for a birthday, not our own choice. It was a miserable dining experience. That said, I've been there at other times when it isn't so crowded and you can get food without waiting in line forever and it was much better. Food isn't anything special, but there's an impressive variety; truly something for everyone. Personally, I recommend the Bourbon Chicken, it's fantastic. But bring a big appetite, because there's really only one good reason to visit an all-you-can-eat joint, and it isn't the quality of the fare! read more

It's quite expensive for a buffet it was 76$ for five adults. It's a bit hectic when there's a lot of people in the restaurant. There was a good verity of food selection the food was decent. But on the other hand some dishes like the Mac and cheese where too mushy. And the red grilled chicken looked a bit raw and tasteless. The service was really good the waitress would bring us drinks every time, and take our dirty plates along with ease. But one thing that needs work is the cleanliness on the floors they where dirty and needed some moping. I even saw a girl slip on the tile because it was very greasy. Great food. Wonderful service. I recommend the bourbon chicken, salad bar and chocolate lava cake, but there is a little of everything. Pizza, taco bar, roast and potatoes, steak, Chinese, ice cream and they recently started having breakfast on the bar all day. If you go on a holiday like mothers/fathers day or valentines day, there is a line out into the parking lot, but if you are willing to wait, it is worth it. The last time we went on mothers day all the mothers got a coupon for 50% off your next visit but it expired the day before fathers day. I have also gone here for our church Christmas parties and they are always very accommodating. It does get crowded and loud on weekends. If that bothers you then I recommend the lunch buffet instead. read more

Lots of quantity...quality is debatable on a lot of the items...many things come straight from a can. The salad bar is good. The steak bar is mediocre. Fried okra is terrible. Baked chicken was burnt to a crisp. Fruit was excellent. Ribs were really good. The place was extremely crowded, but not so bad you were having to wait in line. Certainly there is enough for me to eat here. And it`s no worse than anywhere else. I wish they would make it easier for folks with wheat or gluten allergies to eat - there's no reason they have to put vegetables in the same tray as beef with gravy. The gravy soon finds its way onto the vegetables. In fact, why do they have to put gravy on the roast beef at all - put it on the side and let those who want it add it.... There was some unbreaded chicken - but they put it out late, after I'd already had all the solid food I wanted. I worked at a Golden Corral when I was in high school and have many great memories about the job and the great people that I worked with back in those days. Ah, nostalgia... I don't know what it is exactly, but the last few times we have been to a Golden Corral, I have left the restaurant wondering why I keep going back. The food is just mediocre and it really isn't cheap. It was $26 for my fiancé and I to eat lunch and it was not worth it. There are many choices on the buffet, but the problem is that everything is just mediocre. Nothing stands out and leaves you thinking: "wow, that was great." I love the hot rolls and they were the best thing that I had to eat. I was disappointed in the steak from the buffet, as it was not cooked the way I requested. It is not surprising as one cook left the grill and a different cook took over as I walked up to the buffet. How did he know how long everything had been on the grill if he just took over? He didn't and just guessed (wrong). The service was fine, but the only thing the servers do anymore is fill your drink. Servers used to bring rolls to your table, extra plates, complimentary coffee after your meal, but not anymore. Basically everything is self-service except for the drinks. One other thing that bothered me about the restaurant was how close the tables were in the dining room. We could barely walk between the tables to get to the buffet and back. I felt like we were having lunch with the table next to us and behind us. It was uncomfortable. As we walked out of the restaurant today, I asked my fiancé to remind me next time I think I want to go to Golden Corral that I will just be disappointed and to remind me to go somewhere else instead. read more

Sundays and Saturdays are expensive (12 bucks for a person). Normal days are cheaper (8.50) and not crowded. Try to avoid having drinks. $2.50 for a drink. Water is good. The food is absolutely nice. Everything is great. read more

There's something for everyone at Golden Corral, and then some! Just make sure you "come hungry" so you can get a taste of several things & ya don't miss out. This was my second visit to this GC (unfortunately, we don't have any in NYC). Then again, maybe we're better off not having access to THIS much food!! Lol! Went on a weekday so the prices are a little less expensive. There's a decent selection of food to pick from! Let me rephrase that... There's a HUGE amount of FOOD to pick from!! And the food is damn good for a buffet!! The salad bar is kinda small but then again, if you're going to Golden Corral, you probably won't wanna fill up on salad. I do enjoy some salad with my meal. This last time I went, I decided to have my salad in between the main course & dessert! All in all, a great bang for the buck! Mmmm Mmmm good! Tip: Order/pay on the way in. Great place to take the family on a WEEK NIGHT. Weekends are chaos and the lines outrageous. Try everything there and be pleased....just don't expect much from the steak cook. You get it well done most of the time and not worth the trouble if you're into medium rare and rare steaks. Not sure when the New England style of meatloaf took over, not a big fan of the brown gravy instead of the more traditional southern tomato glaze. Great for little ones...so much variety. I've visited many Golden Corral restaurants in several states and found the quality of food in Joplin, Missouri to be superior. I can't comment on their desserts because I rarely have room for any, but they seem to have a nice selection from which to choose. Everything is fresh and well presented. read more

We knew going in that this was a buffet, we would be serving ourselves and that it's a family restaurant.. It's a good sign when the parking lot is nearly full at 1:30 in the afternoon on Saturday! Food was hot and delicious, our drinks were regularly filled without asking, and the price was right. It was so nice to have mashed potatoes WITHOUT skins, and steak fries that were the right size and fried just right. Dessert was strawberry shortcake so good that I had to have two! read more

I don't know what happened since the last time I was at this GC about a year ago but it has gone downhill, food wise. Either overcooked or undercooked. Most of the staff don't speak english either now. I would not recommend this GC to anyone. The standards have gone too low to justify the price. read more

It may be extremely busy on the weekends, but all of the staff are doing their jobs effectively and efficiently. Besides the food lines, I didn't have to wait for anything. Great place to sit and enjoy a meal. read more
