Mini fridge, microwave, coffee in room.
Jean K.

Bargain lodging on post. Super value. Clean room. Fairly quiet area. Not up to date and you won't find any framed pictures, warm lighting or other niceties to make the room feel cozy but you'll have everything you need: comfy bed, hot shower, microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, iron and ironing board. It's military. No frills. All business. Forward. March.

I walked in not thinking it was as bad as the reviews. However, if the cleaning lady can't clean your room she'll pull the power key out a little and you'll not have electricity in your room until you put it back down, not a big deal, but that's not the worst part. I was there for 3+ days and I didn't notice the little bugs. I saw two, but once I noticed them I checked out. The lady at the front desk tried to convince me that they were a little native beetles. I wasn't having it I don't know if they're bedbugs or not; personally I don't want bugs in my room. They did offer me another room, but At that point I didn't want to be there. Also I noticed that the good reviews didn't have pictures of the room, so here's my room after I messed the bed up looking if there was an infestation. Just check the bed and you should be okay if you wanna risk it.

Master Bedroom

You must be current, retired military or specific government employees to stay here. And it is a bargain! We're staying at a suite with a full kitchen, bedroom and living room for $66 per night. It's a large room set in a what looks like a small neighborhood. You even have your own washer and dryer. And the kitchen has everything including pots, pans, dishes, etc. Currently a new hotel is being built but I'm not sure if these units will remain. Close by is the water where you can use the walking path, walk out in the pier or go fishing. There are restaurants and a golf green on base. Of course you can shop at the commissary to stock up your kitchen and the AAFES store. Our room is very well kept with housekeeping daily. The shower is a bit dated, especially the shower head and water control.

Food on floor

The room is small as well as the bed itself. Not comfortable for two adults to sleep in and the linens were highly lacking. The shower was large and a walk in so that was nice, but that is about all I can say for it. Also each room only comes with two towels. The room's walls were dirty, food on the floor by the bed as well as an odd smell in the kitchenette.

The MacDill Inn building.

I was blown away by what must be the BEST lodging in the entire Department of Defense. The new building is amazing. The rooms are up to date and clean. The lobby has a really nice cafe and bar. The staff is phenomenal. Seriously great people. Nits: I'd like to see a better selection of food in the lobby for breakfast. The packaged food wasn't appealing. There aren't any plates and that was inconvenient.

One angle of room #2 in TLF

This review is for the TLF (Temporary Lodging Facility) that you'll find you and your family in if you're PCSing in or out of MacDill AFB. This is our second time here, with the first being when we arrived 3 years ago. That time we had a 1 bedroom with a living room, bathroom, and kitchen. This time we have a 2 bedroom with the living room, bathroom, and kitchen. The units are fully furnished, to include dishes, utensils, pack n plays, high chairs, etc. The master bedroom has a queen bed, closet, dresser & TV. The other bedroom has 2 twins, closet dresser, and TV. The bathroom is a shower and tub. The kitchen is complete with fridge, table, stove, oven, dishwasher, and microwave. This is literally a fully furnished apartment. We are quite pleased with this place! It is spacious, well maintained, clean, and all a family needs to continue life while moving. There is a playground nearby for the kids, and its not a far walk to the trail that goes along the bay. These units are separate from the main facility where the TAD/TDY folks stay, which is good because you know how kids can be sometimes. Of the 4 bases(2 Marine, 1 Army, here) we've stayed at in transit, this lodging facility is by far the best!

Great lodging staff and rooms. Only problem I had was heater turning on at 0010 & 0400 but they quickly moved me into another room.

This motel my F fiance and me stayed here a few weeks ago…read moreand we stayed a week. I am a 64 disabled veteran and i come to this area twice a week to stay with my fiance. I just came from California 3 months ago and the VA is trying to find us a place to live. This motel gave no discounts and was very dirty in the room. I paid 105.00 per night. I was sick and my fiance took care of me. During that week there was no room service so we went to the dollar store to buy clean towels and toilet paper. We kept the room clean and put all our trash in shopping bags next to the garbage cans since the guy never came by to collect the trash. When we checked out i came back the following week and the guy stated he could not rent us a room because my fiance did something very bad and he said he could not tell me what. I told him it cant be drugs because she does not do drugs. Her children were not allowed to visit as his rules were only two people in a room in a double bed room. I started coming twice a week for two days to see her and now stay in Sleep Choice motel down the street which is great when i found out from someone a few days later why we were not allowed in that motel again i was told because my fiance did not clean his room. We did not trash the room and placed it in shopping bags. I never heard of a motel where you have to perform your own cleaning and get your own towels and toilet paper and they do not allow my finaces kids to visit. Why would we clean an already filthy room when we entered. The towels were dirty and the tub was dirty i would never stay in a motel like this again where they expect you to clean the room. I would stay a mile from this motel. Actually the door lock was broken so one of us had to stay in the room at all times. The area out front is full of drug dealers and prostitutes. They should close this motel down and we must have killed 20 bugs in the room during the week. Never again. .

He could barely speak any English. Normally I'd be patient and it wouldn't bother me so much. But this guy? I ask for their nightly rates and he tells me there are no occupancies. So I say fine, I didn't need a room right at that moment. It was for further reference. And he hangs up on me. No sir-y, this place is not for me. Hopefully you all have better luck.

A broken window with cardboard box closing it up, a doggie door on a locked door into a garage that the owner was STAYING IN!! At all random times during the day and night. We had two, one year old children that could have crawled through that dog door! The floors were discussing, all of our feet were black from just walking on it. We started bringing our stuff in from our long drive here only to find more and more filth. The fridge was full of old food and dirt. The front of it was splattered in who knows what. The microwave had food all over it. The stove top had grease splattered and was so dirty you could write your name in the filth. The dish washer STILL had dishes in it!! The bathroom tub had hair everywhere and was BLACK with dirt. Both toilets in this house were covered in hair and poop. The drawers in the bathroom had hair clippings like someone shaved and dumped their hair in there!! We found glass multiple times on the floor. The beds were beyond GROSS. Stains everywhere, one even had blood stains on both the sheets and the bed . There was layers of dust on the ceiling fans and under the beds. The walls were splattered with filth. Picture frames on the wall covered in all things gross. The dock was broken, the mini golf was A COMPLETE JOKE. It would be better off as fire wood. We called vrbo immediately and they called Peter who told us that he would be sending a cleaning service to fix this around 2 pm the next day. Of course being during naptimes for our kids we agreed (mistake) so we headed out so they could clean. We came back after 5 to Peter NOT a cleaning service. He said he cleaned the bathrooms but there was no difference at all. He left and the place was exactly the same. So we called vrbo this time to see if they could help move us, and get our money back. How could we stay here with our small children and the filth?!? Vrbo said that there was nothing they could do for us but continued to apologize. We called Peter then to see if we could get our money back or at least do something for us. Because at this point we had now cleaned the bathrooms and kitchen to make it work just so we weren't so grossed out. We went and bought our own cleaners to do so!! Peter Yelled at one of the wifes on the phone, making her cry. Then came to the House!! With his girlfriend telling us that the place was clean and that it was fine. Never apologizing for anything. Just that he would get us new bed sheets and that we were over reacting. "Treated like family" is a joke. All of this drama happened while we were trying to feed our kids dinner. At this point none of us felt comfortable staying here with our families. But were out of money if we left. So we were stuck. We cleaned the house and left everyday and went somewhere to get out of that place. None of us slept in fear of what was on those beds and knowing peter was there at all times. The place is gross and not worth your time nor money. This was supposed to be a fun family friend trip and we all couldn't wait to leave. How horrible!! Family's saved money, took off time for work, travelled over 18 hours to come to a complete mess of a place. We all have tons of photos of everything! Save yourself time and money and stay somewhere else.

I inquired about this property after arriving here from Los Angeles. The first night I stayed in…read morethe house they rent out I was so tired I went right to sleep and checked out next morning. About an hour after checking out Peter and his wife "Taz" called me offering me the motorhome next to their house to stay in because the rental house was being rented out for the weekend. I agreed and met with them that day. From the outside the motorhome looked ok. When they showed me the inside it was dusty and didnt appear to have been used in a long time. I thought it was odd they didnt clean it before showing it to me but in that area there arent a lot of apts available and no hotels that I seen so out of desperation I agreed to rent the place. Against my better judgement I agreed to pay $750 a month and $750 deposit which I would get back as long as I didnt do any damage. So I gave them $1500 and moved my stuff in. First incident that happened was when I opened refrigerator it was infested with bugs I immesiately called them and Taz came and put a bunch of towels soaked in bleach in fridge and left it overnight. She said she'd be back in morning to finish. So in the morning Im still asleep and theres a knock on the door, mind you I wasnt given a key. So shes knocking I didnt answer because i was still asleep and after knocking twice she decided to just let herself in the motorhone. I know where Im from its illegal for manager or owner to enter a rented property without 3 days notice. Theyre definately not allowed to just open the door especially a locked soor whenever they want. I was asleep naked and this woman just walked in like it was nothing. She cleaned the fridge and left. I know she entered the motorhome numerous times when I would leave in the next 2 or 3 days i was there without permission. Ive sinced noticed numerous things of mine missing but this would be the least of my lroblems come to find out. This next series of events I have attached pics so you can get an idea of what Im about to say. The last night I was there, while laying in bed, I kept itching really really bad about 3 hours later i turned on all the lights and couldnt believe what I saw first of all she took the sheets I had used 4 days prior when I stayed in the house and put them on the bed in the motorhome, not really a big deal but little odd. When I looked at the mattress underneath the pad that was put on top of bed I was horrified. (See pics) i jumped in the shower cuz I felt so nasty and covered in bugs. (See pics) when i got out of shower and looked at the water you could literally see all the bugs that came off my body and hair while showering. Not to mention i had to take a cold shower cuz entire time i was there I never got hot water. Its trou ling even repeating and reliving this situation again. Im horrified of bugs especially bed bugs. As I started to look through my things everything had bugs on it. I grabbed all my things and immediately went to 24 hour laundrymat and hot water washed everything I xould salvage that ddidnt get thrown away by me. I had to throw away about 15 pairs of shoes because they had fabric on them and I couldnt wash them. I have very good taste in shoes and as everyone knows womens shoes are not cheap. I was itching for days after. While at laundrymat i text Peter asking him for my $1500 dollars back. I had only been there for 4 days and in thise 4 days i never had hot water, my privacy was violated daily and I had to throw out probably $1200 in food that was in fridge and my other belongings that were ruined by bed bugs. Not only did they refuse to give me any money back but I didnt even get an apology. Nothing from them whatsoever except "wheres the key" thats the response I got after writing a 3 page text frantic and in tears I was so horrified by bug situation. Not even an apology. I still to this day havent received a dime back from them. I have many photos and will be taking them to court. So anybody even thinking about staying here, think again you will regret it. Im a very easy going person and I was done so wrong by these people. Please look at the pics Ive included so you know everything your reading is the absolute truth about what happened there. Grom afar it seems like a nice place but dont be fooled. I can almoat guaranteed they did nothing about the bed bug problem and the next person that stays there i feel very sorry for. And if your thinking about renting the rental house they have just remember it only takes one bug on their shoe or clothes and they walk in that rental place that place is now infested.

I will not be returning and will be informing the Base as well as all my Troops to avoid this hotel. Not sure what happened but clearly the Management has failed. When there is a bomb threat the locks the base down all day one would think they would understand, but clearly not. I have been going here for 5 years. I work at Special Ops Command but I live a few hours away. I'm a retired Special Forces Combat Vet. Today, we had a bomb situation at the MacDill Gate. They shut down the base for it. So, I asked to postpone my reservation. They would not and they wanted to charge me more. I'm appalled that they would treat Military this way and as a formerly loyal customer so I am sore disappointed. I would recommend Military folks stay away from them. They have no respect for Service Members or long term customers. Why would I give them any more business when they clearly showed they could not care less about me, my service or a BOMB at the BASE. That's ok, Lots of other hotels there who do treat you well. This is the only place I've encountered, that treats Military this way. In light of the war in Iran, you'd think they'd be better about asking to postpone a day but they failed.
