Tom Willett, with MacHeroes, has been a great resource. During an unexpected accident I dropped an 8TB external hard drive holding some valuable, "Fortune 500 Company" files. With his help and connections I recovered important information that saved me from great embarrassment and distress. I have used Tom over 10 years now. He has always come thru. He makes a disaster manageable and the complicated understandable with simple terms. I dreaded the last task I had his help with. I wanted a laptop to back up my iMac running OS 10.12.6 using CS6 software. Just finding the right computer seemed a daunting idea. Tom is great communicator. He uses a variety of ways to help one out. I have found texting a fast way to get a trouble spot into his awareness. He replies in fair time with answers or suggestions to clear it up. I gave texting a try in figuring out the computer I needed. A few screen captures followed by another stream of text messages and I had my purchase. A week or so ago I somehow got liquid into my four-year-old MacBook (possibly condensation because it was in my air-conditioned car while on a highway trip on a very hot day). In short, it fried. I took it to the Apple Store, which opened it up and found that the inside was wet, including the hard drive! Before leaving the computer with them for repair, I had to try to rescue the data on it -- I had backed some of it up a while ago, but there was a lot of more recent stuff that I hadn't backed up yet. Maybe a couple of years' worth! A couple of staff at the Apple Store gave me the name of MacHeroes, so I called them and made an appointment to bring my laptop over to them. I spoke with Tom Willets, one of the partners in the company. I dropped off the laptop at their office, along with a brand new external hard drive on which to load any recovered data. My laptop was there over the weekend, and on Monday afternoon Tom called to say that they had succeeded in rescuing all my old data! Major sigh of relief! MacHeroes services do not come cheap. This misadventure set me back $475 for the data recovery. But these guys definitely seem to know their way around computers, particularly Macs, and apparently have a high success rate in recovering lost data. If they can't, they just a charge a $60 bench fee for their efforts, no matter how long it took. When I went to pick up the computer and external drive, Tom had the external drive hooked up to his own laptop so I could check through it to see if everything I needed was there. (They can recover your data, but not applications that were installed on your damaged machine.) In my case, it was. Tom also showed me how to save and reinstall the hidden files I'll need to have access to all my old e-mails, e-mail addresses, and my browser bookmarks. If my old MacBook can't be repaired (and it's likely it can't) I'll be able to have all my previous data on its replacement! Tom also said that if I have any other questions or need some assistance setting up a new MacBook he'd be happy to help for free via phone or text. I can hardly ask for more than that! So even if it was expensive, it was worth it to know that nearly 4 years of data hadn't been lost for good! read more

I bought a new iMac in June of 2020 and it ran slower than my 2009 iMac. Apple would not replace the slow drive because it was not defective. However, it ran too slow for me to run my business. I contacted Tom Willett at MacHeroes. He told me what drive to buy and he installed a solid state drive. He came and picked up the computer and returned it in a couple of days. When he returned it, he sat with me and made sure that everything started up correctly. My Mac which was purchased in 2013 crashed and Apple told me there was nothing they could do except for erase and restore the device.
