Happy to report none of the rolls fell apart (this happened to me recently at another sushi restaurant). They had soothing music on and several large screen TV show on mute. We waited over 45 minutes after requesting they call us for the wait and when they did not call we walked in only to see they scratched our Name off and had Atleast 5 people or more seated after our names were scratched off only to lie and say they "tried to call us" when i have shown that there were 0 missed calls in my call logs, along with full service. The worst Japanese food I've ever had. Overcooked stringy chicken, mushy rice (is this even brown rice?), small portions. Literally a few pieces of chicken. The soup tasted like rubber. I had to wait over an hour and food still wasn't finished. I understand it was very busy being Valentine's Day. However, stop taking orders if you can't handle the pressure. The food quality was not up to par. The owner kept saying the food is fresh. I never disputed that it was fresh. I said it is OVERCOOKED! She never even apologized and I spent $50. They can't handle constructive criticism. I even paid extra for brown rice. What a waste! The worst sushi I've ever had! I had to dump it and buy White Castle instead. The White Castle food was amazing and that says a lot! She refused to refund at first and offered a measly $5 coupon. She asked me to return the food! Unfortunately I wasn't happy with the food, the garlic sauce was very watery, not something I would expect for "steamed broccoli with garlic sauce" and it was quite tasteless and would not be good with the white rice presented. On top of that 2 of the containers were broken and some of the sauce (that I didn't end up eating anyway) leaked out into the bag. 2 of the sushi rolls were quite big and only ended up liking one of the 3. The tofu I ordered was quite soggy, the taste was meh, but the veggie dumplings were alright. Really didn't want to finish the food and I don't think I will. My boyfriend and I used to go here at least once a week. It is a nice, clean establishment and every time we went it was practically empty. I should have seen that as a red flag. Although the sushi is pretty good (Tuna and Avocado roll for me, Spicy Machi Combo for my boyfriend) the service is appalling. Even though our waitress was very attentive and refilled our water while frequently checking to see if there was anything else we needed, the way in which the food was served was insane. My boyfriend and I would order our own appetizers and they would never bring them out at the same time. The last time we went his appetizer came and I sat patiently waiting for mine. It took nearly twenty minutes for mine to show up! The kicker is the entire time we were waiting they had our sushi entrees sitting out in the open at the sushi bar while the servers stood there staring in our direction. They brought out my appetizer, chicken skewers, beyond steaming hot and proceeded to bring the entree not even five minutes later. That was the last time we will ever be dining at Machi. Awkward dining experience overall. I give them two stars because although the service is stiff and awkward, the food is pretty decent. So here's the thing... there's quite a lot of good things to say. The quality of food, and presentation is very much above average. Service is excellent also, if a bit over-eager. The lack of people might be related to an unfortunate choice of location - one wouldn't expect an upscale Japanese in a difficult-to-access strip mall between a 24 hour animal hospital and a dance studio. Prices are high for the area as well - but you DO get what you pay for. Hand rolls are well stuffed, and special rolls are nicely flavor balanced. I got the hibachi shrimp lunch special and my sister got the 3 roll lunch special with Boston, Philadelphia and shrimp & asparagus. Shrimp was pretty small compared to other hibachi places. Also it came with bland noodles instead of rice which was odd. My sister didn't really like her rolls, every roll has avocado in it and she's not a fan. Bought the deal on groupon to see what all the hype was about with this new sushi place by me. What a wonderful surprise! The staff is extremely friendly and welcoming. The food was delicious! I ordered the BBQ Squid as an appetizer and it was beyond amazing! The squid was tender and very large, it had a hint of bbq sauce that was not overwhelming. I was very happy. I would come back just to eat this squid as an entree. I then got three sushi rolls, the American Dream, the spicy tuna and the madness roll. They were all delicious. The only reason I am giving this 4 stars instead of 5 is because the spicy mayo sauce was a tad too spicy and therefore overpowered the taste of any sushi without that sauce. Wonderful new place! I order sushi a few times a month from several places, and this is the best most consistent sushi, however, this is the second time that they have expected me to pick up the order when I clearly ordered delivery. I always start the call with I'd like to place an order for delivery/pick-up. The lady who made the mistake last time is the same one I spoke with tonight, and she proceeded to scold me over the phone saying "You didn't give me your address" I told her I gave my phone number which in this day and age should pulls up all my info especially at a delivery restaurant. I should have suspected something because she took my order extremely fast and said 50 minutes bye and hung up. What she actually said was 15 minutes but it sounded the same. my family and i decided to try Machi Sushi. it is located in selden and wow was it bad. first off we ordered from GrubHub. i use it a lot at work with my students and never had an issue. if they say the order will be there at one time its always been there. tonight it was 45 mins late. i called and he assured me it was in there car and would be delivered shortly. then when the order arrive, nothing was right. my unagi don was full of pin bones. It came with soup, and the container barely had half the amount in it. Wife had asked for her sushi rolls to be made with soy wrapper, and they weren't. Daughter ordered a california roll that never showed, and Son was supposed to have 3 skewers of chicken, and it only showed up with 2. i have read people here loved this place. i was not too happy.
