As a guest at the Marriott I was pretty annoyed that they allowed Aqua to be open to the public on the forth of July. IT WAS PACKED. I couldn't even find a space in the pool so I ended up just getting a drink with friends in the lounge area. Pretty disappointing when you're paying a good amount of money to spend the night. I just think if you have a busy holiday weekend your members shouldn't be allowed to come and use all the space I don't cake how much you're charging them. It just seems like they were doing anything for extra money. It is a nice space, drinks are reasonable priced and staff is nice and efficient. Maybe they can add a bit more lounge chairs because people were sitting in them for hours on end and guest were getting pretty annoyed that they Had to wait for seats just to find out people were saving them for family members who were joining them. Overall it's a nice pool, wish there was a no splashing zone for people who weren't enjoying being splashed by children who were cannon balling into the pool it's just not big enough to do it. read more

My, my, what a relaxing, tasty food, top notch service time I had. First let's get to the facts - this is a restaurant/ bar on an upper deck overlooking from the Marriott pool, nestled in the heart of the Marriott. It has tables with chairs scattered with a few gazebo comfy sitting areas, a bar only 2 sided for seating the other is used for serving, comfy chairs and small fire-pits on the side separated by a wall from the pool. It is plenty big enough for a couple of parties or as I saw a wedding cocktail hour. If you are a guest at the Marriott they will serve you down by the pool & charge it to your room! If you want to enjoy the pool & Aqua and not a overnight guest you must buy a pool pass which are available M-F 30.00 a day. The menu is very nice, I tried the hummus and grilled pita - fresh and tasty at least 8 pieces of pita, blackened shrimp tacos - 3 soft tacos stuffed w med size blackened shrimp with a sprinkle of lettuce w a side of chunky salsa - excellent! Mixed greens salad - large enough for two, cucumbers, cherry tomatoes simply delish. We ate down by the pool and up on the deck. Drinks are pretty and tropical is the way to go. They had no shortage of the fruit that decorated the drinks! I wanted a cider but alas Aqua does not offer it BUT I found that Bluefin grille inside the hotel restaurant does so within the kindness of their hearts the server went inside to get me a cider - Angry Orchard, transferred it into a plastic pool safe cup and I was one happy girly! Hubby had a watermelon margarita That was pretty darn good with muddled sweet watermelon & a watermelon salad drizzled with balsamic mixed with mozz & greens - outstanding! That's what I am talking about people! Music on Saturday was live and was a good range of tunes. Sunday it was piped in and also a nice mix for all. The game was on the T.V in the bar. Another treasure chest in Providence. I've been here on two occasions and each time, I've been impressed. There's a beautiful roofed patio bar outside with many canopies and tables to sit in. Fire pits are centered around patio couches, and there's even outdoor heaters if it gets a bit too chilly for the fire to warm you up. The down side: this is predominantly a place for the summer and closes at 10 PM. It's definitely 5-star worthy, but the fact it closes so early is a turn off. read more

The food is pretty good. As a guest at the hotel trying to relax on a Sunday afternoon it's really weird that they have a DJ playing really loud dance music. Not one person is dancing and there are maybe four people in the bar area. My room is right next to Aqua and I can FEEL the music THROUGH MY EARPLUGS. This is a pretty cool outdoor lounge. I like the atmosphere. Drinks are pretty expensive but the food was surprisingly good and the prices were ok. We tried the potstickers, chicken skewers, and I tried my friends tater tots. I would give it another try. Our waitress was the essence of incompetence though so the service really needs to be remedied. My friends caught attitude from more than one of the very young girls working there just for asking if someone could send a waitress over, as we had been there 30 minutes and no one came around. There is clearly no customer service training. Our group was here for my friends birthday this weekend and we were the only table there, and maybe a couple of people sitting at the bar. Our server was terrible. Very slow, not clearing the table, forgetful, just plain bad. I am pretty understanding if a place is busy and they are understaffed but we were the ONLY table in the place until right before we left. I seriously love this place in the summer. It is a hidden gem in the middle of the Marriott. It is one of the best outdoor lounges in Providence the only problem is that it closes early due to all the noise complaints from guests. There are beautiful fire pits and tasty appetizers. No DJ but a nice big bar and plenty of seating. It is just perfect for a classy night out under the stars, pool side. There is always FREE parking and NO cover. Aqua is a casual lounge located inside the Marriott Hotel - Providence, and offers a full bar and cocktails. I've been there on only one occasion to celebrate my husband's birthday and we have relatives from out of town staying at the hotel as well. There are many canopies and tables to sit in. Fire pits are centered around patio couches, and there's even outdoor heaters if it gets a bit too chilly. The food is decent (as bar food goes, nothing gourmet, but well done). The manager was wonderful and really helpful. She made our event even more special! Also the staff could not be more attentive and always willing to help us with our requests. The lounge area could use more light, it gets very dark, specially if you are trying to see your guests and have a conversation. We asked for some kind of light for our table and they ran an extension cord and plugged a floor lamp near our table. Like I said, the staff was so great that makes you overlook all the other little details. We rented a cabana and our waitress was the best! We also had live music setup right in front of our cabana and they took requests and sang happy birthday to my husband. It was very nice. The cabana is paid separate and available from 11am to 5pm. read more

We were in Providence for a bachelor party and chose Aqua for a day at a cabana by the pool relaxing. I was starving and as we walked in I saw there was a buffet offered to the guests, well I didn't want to eat off of the pool menu so I asked our waitress if I could grab a plate for the buffet and they were most accommodating. I also forgot my bathing suit and their gift shop had plenty to chose from thankfully. The pool had a very warm bath like feel which kind of eeks me out a bit as I see others in the water on a hot day and the water is warm, just.... something about that. If it were a bit cooler, bravo. The pool setup is nice though, half is inside and half is out, you are able to swim between the two at your discretion. The food was great albeit a bit pricey, but where isn't these days? Our waitress was great and eager to help us out and answer all of our intense demands. They even had a masseuse offered on this particular day. It was a good 90 degrees and the gentleman was bit heavy set, wearing all black and sitting directly in the hot sun, I couldn't imagine the discomfort this poor gentleman was feeling, or the discomfort of sweat beads dripping on my nubile skin as I was rubbed so I opted not to get a massage that day. We had the cabana until 5pm and we intended to get full use out of our stay. There was a wedding reception starting immediately at 5pm, people began to show up dressed accordingly around 4 as Aqua was setting up their appetizers and many satellite bars, we were just there enjoying and relaxing. We started to notice the curious eyes of many of the wedding reception wondering if we were going to be staying during their time and we started to get a bit uncomfortable so we left promptly at 5pm, scurrying our way out holding our belongings like we were doing the walk of shame. Other than that it was a pleasant experience and the price was reasonable. If they offered bottle service other than a million trips to the bar, and a fan blowing on us I would rate it five stars. A surprising, relaxing oasis within the corporate trimmings of the Marriott near the State House, which is a great place for a relaxing drink by the pool whether a guest or not. Some colleagues wanted to do a "working daycation" so we booked rooms at the Providence Marriott with it's highly vaunted "Club AQUA". I think that this hotel and AQUA is the best kept secret in Providence. The rooms are comfortable, the staff friendly, and the pool/club area is always clean and relaxing. The servers come by once in a while to check on you and take food and drink orders but they are not pushy at all. Some of the menu items are pricey but if you pick carefully, you can have a very good meal and keep it under $50 with a drink. The club and the music can get very loud in the evening so unless you bring earplugs or like sleeping to loud music, don't stay in the Club AQUA access rooms (rear sliding doors access the pool area) -- request a room facing away from the pool area and you'll be fine. I moved rooms after the first two nights and after that, I enjoyed the pool/club area when I wanted to but then was able to sleep with no jarring noise (err, music...). Will return if I'm back in the area. read more

However, not happy with the overpriced drinks that were so weak it was just like drinking juice and when I tried to get the bartenders attention he would not come over so I drank my 10 dollar juice and will never return again! except perhaps if I am just drinking beer. read more

Acqua is a bar/restaurant located at the Marriott Hotel in a courtyard area with a pool. There is a poolside bar, tables, and private cabana-type areas with tents over them. Definitely a fun place to have some drinks and sit out in the sun, and non-hotel guests can a pay fee to use the pool for the day. The pool looks great too - it's half inside and half outside. The food was only so-so, but it was fine for nibbling with our drinks. An unusual space for Providence and worth checking out for a change of scenery (but only when it's nice out!). read more

The pool and patio area are beautiful and very relaxing. The only issue I had on my visit was the cost of the drinks. I was charged $21.00 per drink when I received the bill. I asked for an reason from the waitress and bar staff since the watered down drinks were $9.00 and extra shot was $12.00 and was frustrated with the reasoning. I even spoke to the restaurant manager Kevin and he said he would check into and get back to me but three days later no call. The food was reasonable and tasty and had a great time by the pool but make sure you ask about the prices since they are not listed on the menu. I have never paid $21.00 for a drink even in NYC. read more
