Lomo saltado and chicken fried rice

Go here occasionally now and have eaten inside plenty of times. Nothing fancy at all just a small hole in the wall restaurant. Food is great and still good prices. I do wish they had better drinks selection, and sometimes everything on their menu is not available.

I am hoping this one star is a temporary rating. I ordered online because no one answered the phone, the three different times I called. I received an email the food would be ready for 2:45. I arrived at 3:00. The person told me she did not have the device on to be receiving online orders, but that it would only take 20 minutes for ceviche & pollo a la brasa familiar. 40 minutes later it was still being prepared. I asked for the money back. The person told me what a hassle it would be to contact the company that does their online ordering. She said the food would be right out. 10 more minutes later we received the food. We were told it would only be a 20 minute wait and it took 50 minutes. Need more honesty and good communication. The person gave us what she said is a free 2 liter soda and said it was because the meal was very late. But the website said soda comes free with the family combo. She did not apologize but she offered 50% off of our next meal. Need more personalized service. The chicken flavor was different from other Peruvian places, less curry flavor and more Italian spices. The ceviche was so/so. The arrow chaufa was really good. The French fries were quite dry.

Chicha morada is avalable in full jar for $10 and half jar for $5. That is totally worth it. Chaufa carne was good, but slightly saltier than I would like. Sustancia de pollo was a nice soup. It was very filling with eg and potatos in it.

Came here after a walk at case mt. Had the pollo a la brasa. The skin was super flavorful and the chicken was moist. Exactly what you want out of your pollo. The french fries were great! We were the only ones in the restaurant and we ate in. Service was good! Make sure you ask for all of their sauces because they all add something extra to the dish. Also, who doesn't love options for French fry dipping! Can't wait to come back this weekend for Tamales!!!!!

Something about the sign aesthetic made me think it would be a good place. I Yelp-Searched it, and Lima 32 damn near had a perfect rating based on less than 50 reviews. I'm a Food Blogger. So I try to explore new places and avoid repeating spots I know. I've eaten at Lima 32 three times since January. Lima 32 is a small casual Peruvian spot located in a very small plaza in Meriden. Parking is tough, but they've done a nice job with the aesthetics inside. Lima 32 is also available on DoorDash within a certain area. I've now had the Lomo Saltado, the Arroz Con Marisco and the Chaufa de Pollo. Best Lomo Saltado I've ever had, and I've had a really expensive one at a famous CT spot. It's basically a beef and veggie stir fry. You can see the chef making it with fire in the pan if you have the right seat. The soy and oyster sauce based glaze is good salty. So flavorful and everything is perfectly cooked. Best Arroz Con Marisco I've ever had. It's a saucy Peruvian paella. The sauce (Aji Amarillo) has a well rounded creamy pepper flavor. The seafood, like crab, mussels and shrimp really stand out. I suspect the seafood varies depending on what's available. The Chaufa de Pollo, a Chinese fried rice style dish, was very good too. Huge pieces of chicken. Eat it with the delicious Aji Verde sauce. Is Lima 32 hidden? I don't know. But it sure the hell is a gem. It's must visit. 5 Stars

Milford's restaurant week was happening, and Costa Peru was on my list, so I decided to go there. My family ordered seafood, while I went with the Peruvian Chicken Wings topped with Peruvian Barbecue sauce, Ceviche Chicken Wings, and Lomo Salado. I was particularly curious about the Ceviche wings because I'd never heard of them before. The ceviche sauce is inspired by Aji Limo Ceviche, a lively Peruvian dish featuring fresh, raw white fish like sea bass or flounder "cooked" in lime juice, seasoned with citrusy, spicy Aji Limo peppers, red onions, and cilantro. It's usually served with sweet potato, corn, and leche de tigre (tiger's milk), offering a tart, spicy, and refreshing flavor. The Ceviche wings were fantastic. They had a bright citrus kick, and I could taste all the distinct flavors, including the spices and chilies. They really hit the spot. The barbecue wings were just as enjoyable, with a sweet yet tangy sauce and perfectly seasoned chicken. The Lomo Salado was also a hit; the rice was fluffy and full of flavor, and the tender Lomo meat practically melted in my mouth. For dessert, I ordered the flan. It was my first time trying it, and I was curious about the taste. Honestly, I didn't care much for the texture, but I'm glad I gave it a shot. My son picked the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, which was pretty good. It's not something I'd order again, but I'm glad I tried it. The service was excellent, and I'm definitely looking forward to returning and trying more dishes from the menu.

The place looked spacious and with a lot of light, it looked clean and they seemed to have a nice selection of wines (for those that like it) , they were displayed for people to see, which I thought looked very nice. I went to the restroom to wash my hands and I found it odd that there was only 1 restroom for the size of the restaurant. Our waiter was nice, he took our order and we were excited. The food took a VERY long time, we were starving, and we had kids with us so that wasn't good. Some of our orders were wrong and so unfortunately we had to wait even longer for the right meal. We didn't order alcohol but we did older a couple of mocktails. I was SUPER excited for them because that's something I always appreciate at a restaurant. I'm sad to say that they were AWFUL!! straight up syrup, not bubbly (some were supposed to have soda in them) not sweet, simply not enjoyable at all, I ended up switching it for a simple club soda, I figured it was a safe bet. When my food came out, it was ok, I had the avocado toast, and it was forgettable, my sister had the chicken and waffles and now THAT was the meal to get, it was large in portion and that chicken was beyond tasty!! My other sister has the lomito sandwich with the chips and it was good, something missing but she enjoyed it. The rest of the food were burgers and they were ok, the kids had burgers and Mac and cheese and they were not tasty according to the children's disinterest in barely touching their food (and they love cheeseburgers). I'm always willing to bypass certain things as long as customer service delivers BUT unfortunately they fell short. We were celebrating an engagement and so we were all very happy and in a great mood, when suddenly workers around us were cleaning up the neighboring tables, and even sweeping very close to us. We thought the place was possibly closing? (Even though it was only 2:15pm). I asked if they were closing and they said that they close the restaurant from 3-4 so their employees can go eat .... I'm not against giving them a break BUT, it really felt like they were kicking us out, we felt pressured to eat fast and wrap it up, not a good feeling, when you are in the zone of happiness. It was our first time there so, I would have appreciated if they would have informed us that the restaurant takes a little break in between and then we would have decided if we wanted to stay or go elsewhere. They did bring a little dessert and 2 mocktails for the newly engaged which was nice, I'll give them that. Overall, I don't think the food and experience was worth me coming back or recommending this place, I'm sure there's other much better places.

Picking a place to eat was a challenge with so many delicious options, but after exploring, I decided on Mercado 27, a Peruvian restaurant offering a taste of authentic Peruvian cuisine. Mercado 27 draws inspiration from the rich culinary traditions of Peru, showcasing classic dishes that highlight bold flavors, fresh ingredients, and deep cultural roots. The restaurant's name, "Mercado," nods to Peru's vibrant marketplaces, which are central to its food culture, and "27" reflects its position as one of the standout vendors in the food hall. I ordered the Pollo Saltado. A savory dish featuring sautéed chicken, onions, and tomatoes, served with crispy fries and fluffy white rice. The meal, priced at $17.00, was hearty and flavorful, offering a perfect balance of textures and spices. To complement the main dish, I added two sides: Sweet Plantains ($5.00) and Fried Yuca ($6.00), both prepared to perfection. The plantains were caramelized and sweet, while the yuca was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, delivering a satisfying crunch. For my drink, I chose a 16oz Chicha Morada ($5.00), a traditional Peruvian beverage with a deep purple hue. Made from dried purple corn, fruits, and spices, this natural juice was refreshing and subtly sweet, a perfect accompaniment to the meal. Chicha Morada's unique flavor transported me to the Andean regions of Peru, where the drink originated. The ambiance at Mercado 27 was inviting and vibrant, fitting for its location within the lively Parkville Market. The space was filled with energy from fellow diners enjoying a diverse range of cuisines. The décor was simple yet modern, allowing the food to take center stage. The service was excellent, with our server, Alejandra, providing attentive and friendly care throughout our visit. She patiently explained the menu items and even recommended the sides and drink that I thoroughly enjoyed. Overall, Mercado 27 delivered an exceptional dining experience that added to the excitement of our trip. The combination of authentic flavors, warm service, and the lively atmosphere made it a memorable stop before heading to the concert.

The paella was like a saucy hybrid of seafood risotto and paella. Tender shrimp and calamari bathing in the creamy red sauce were highlights. A standout dish that I'm glad I tried. The ceviche was good acidic and had the right texture and heat pops. The calamari was crispy and well salted. And the aji -- herby, garlicky goodness. The one miss food-wise was that the calamari was made before the paella so that it wasn't warm when I received it. I'm not factoring this into my score since the food service industry is short-staffed, but it took about 15 minutes longer than the time I was given. At least with the paella though, I got it when it was practically right out of the pan and it was fantastic. Four Stars
