I placed an order for delivery for a work luncheon, per Director's request. I had 2 separate orders being delivered to the same address. Order 1: 1 large cheese pizza, 1 large sausage & pepperoni pizza and an order of breadsticks. Order 2: Cheesy beef sandwich & fries They charge $8 delivery fee and wanted me to include the drivers tip with the transaction instead of tipping when delivered. (New to me, I have always tipped at the end of service, not beforehand). I asked, how much does the delivery driver get from the $8 delivery fee; manager states they get none of it, so I had her add $8 tip for the driver. This is the kicker, she was going to charge me another $8 delivery fee for the 2nd order on top of the $16 for the 1st order going to the exact same address! HUH??? Crystal / manager was matter of fact and didn't seem to care or entertain the idea that she lost future business. Please watch out for these locally owned businesses that feel they can rob you, just because they feel they can. Everyone is feeling the inflation, not just Maciano's. I will be sharing this experience with everyone I know and letting them know there's better locally owned businesses that have better customer service and prices. I really want to love this place but unfortunately I just can't. This was my first time at this location. We dined in. Our waitress Abbey was really great. She was friendly & attentive. The atmosphere was cozy & comfortable. I got a salad & eggplant sandwich (no cheese) to accommodate my vegetarian/vegan diet. I would have loved my sandwich except for the fact it only had 1 sliver of eggplant on it. I couldn't even taste it bc it was so thin. The sandwich was basically just bread & sauce. For $6.99 I felt ripped off. My husband got toasted ravioli & chicken Parmesan sandwich which he liked. That was a much sturdier sandwich & the $ was appropriate. I liked the sauce which has a bit of sweetness to it but he thought it was too sweet. So, I guess it depends whether you like that or not. I've had pizza at the other location & the crust was soggy so that's why I can't get excited about it. Our tab was $35.00 for an app, 2 sandwiches, a side salad, cannoli to go & 1 fountain drink. One bonus is the $2.00 craft & import beers. Now that's a deal. I might go back to eat there just for that reason. read more

Food quality and service in restaurant would earn them 5 stars. I ordered a large pizza and breadsticks, picked them up, and didnt check my order until I got to my destination. Both were excellent. I've heard many people rave about the breadsticks. They're almost like savory funnel cakes. I assume they are fried rather than baked. They're not my favorite type of breadsticks, but they're very soft, and I've never had others like them. The pizza appeared to be made from fresh quality ingredients. However there was an issue with my order, and I contacted them via their website. It's been over a week and I have received no response. I'm going to try going by in person next time I am in town. Came back 11 months later. My wife and I ordered chicken Florentine and veal parmigiana. Our waitress Marcy, was very attentive and very polite with exquisite manners. We were surprised how busy it was for a Thursday, just about a full house. Took about 30-40 minutes for our meals to arrive, but to their credit was fairly packed. The food was very good, come with an appetite. Will come back again to try something else and would post another review. I've made 2 online orders in a row now and neither of them have been right. The first time a pasta was given the wrong sauce and the second time I ordered 2 of the same thing and they didn't put the chicken in either that I added. I called about it and was only given credit towards the missing chicken. They offered to make it again but why would I wanna wait another 40 minutes? So i just moved in the area 5 months ago and my husband and i been ordering from here. But for some reason when we received our pizza tonight it didnt have much pizza sauce on it i mean you could literally see the white on the crust. First, I have to disclose the fact that I have never actually been to Maciano's. This review is based solely on the pizza. My wife was in Rockford visiting family and was able to bring a pizza on board her flight home (the owner was very accommodating in that he prepared an unbaked pizza for her with instructions on what to do with it when she got home). Frankly, this was the best deep dish pizza I've ever had. We had the Italian beef and cheese and on that experience alone this place is worth the five stars. Actually, this place is worth the five stars on just the pizza SAUCE, which again, I'm fairly confident it's the best I've ever had. I don't generally look forward to going to my wife's hometown (no offense), but the next time I am there I will look forward to stopping by Maciano's for some excellent pizza. read more

Should have went with the pizza. It looked pretty darn good. The place is small, and decorated as "authentically Italian" as you can get in a strip mall. I think the servers were a little over loaded, as ours was attentive but not terribly friendly. My dish was ok. Fettucini with marinara and Italian sausage. Huge portion, but swimming in sauce. Meh. My wife got penne with broccoli in olive oil. If my dish was swimming, hers was more like Noah's Arc during the flood. Absolutely disgusting. The salad was decent, and the bread sticks were good and different. They really need to get some fresh ground pepper and real parmesan cheese though. Disappointing overall. read more

(and thin pizza joints do not deserve the title 'pizzeria' anyway, grade school kids can make that stuff) Results : Some of the best deep dish I have had outside of the city. Given the option to go to the name brands in the area or here, I will pick here every time. Found their delivery guy wandering the halls of Clocktower/Coco Key hotel so them come to your room if you can't get out and don't want hotel quality pizza (who does). Make sure to ask for plates and silverware. Loved the long booths, small place, no full bar, dig the good crooner classics music. Pass : Cheese stick appetizer was not melted/cooked all the way. My fiance and I ate for the first time at Maciano's on Friday. I have to be Gluten Free due to a medical diagnosis and it's been almost impossible to find a good GF pizza! All restaurants that I've been to, that offer them, are always serving a frozen GF pizza which tastes like a cheap 4.99 version you can easily buy in a grocery store's frozen aisle. Maciano's was honest and said the crust was frozen, however, it was delicious! We also had stuffed mushrooms which are GF too! The dinner was amazing and the restaurant has a nice comfortable ambiance. We are so excited to have found a decent GF pizza! read more

A cute place in a little strip mall off of Harrison, this Italian restaurant really hit the spot. Though they were a little busy for lunch, my mom and I arrived just before a rush and managed to get a booth in the back. Our waiter seemed to be taking care of the majority of the tables, but he still managed to get us drinks and take our orders quickly. I got the shrimp scampi, which came with a salad, that could be made garden or caesar for no extra charge. Both the meal and the salad came in huge portions and included a little side of bread. The scampi was delicious, and not too buttery/oily. Also a decent pasta to shrimp ratio (I hate when places skimp and shrimp). Considering we had a lunch schedule to work with and this was a busy sit-down place, we got in and out quickly without being rushed and nice service to boot. Did I say delectable and delicious in the same mouthful. We have lived in the area for years and never found a decent pizza like the ones we had growing up in Chicago years and years ago. Those prefab cardboard crusts and flavorless sauce are the norm around Rockford. I had almost given up finding anything close to my childhood memories but wait.....this is hidden gem and needs to get the recognition it deserves. The service was outstanding and very pleasant from the first step in the door. The dining room was immaculate but small but well worth the wait. If you go on Sunday the desserts are half price and who can resist homemade Tiramisu. Overall, the prices were reasonable and the pizza we preferred had a sufficient amount of sausage and cheese on top unlike some of their competition. Their pizza's are pretty decent; we got a pizza with jalapeno and pineapple which hit the spot. The crust is pretty dense and chewy, which doesn't really appeal to eat the crust at the end; however, they do load up the pizza so there isn't a huge head of dough left at the top. The pizza's are loaded with gooey cheese, and cooked right to the top consistency. These pizza's are not of brick oven consistency, but do taste fresher than other corporate chains. And last but not least, their garlic breadsticks are AMAZING. Small, bite sized, and so many in the box! They're soft, pillow-y and perfect for dunking in a bowl of marinara. If you're looking for decent pizza that can feel a lot, this place is the spot! read more
