I couldn't believe it took going to 4 different locations to finally find someone who could fix my computer. Rick did a great job fixing it as fast as he could (obviously can't do much about shipping times). I will say that I had gotten the computer back and then had it break again within a matter of days, and Rick was great about re-replacing the broken part where a lot of other places might have easily just said "too bad." So I have to give him 5 stars purely on his character alone. Will return to again in the future if I have any other issues on any other Mac computers. read more

I found Rick on Yelp. I read through most of the reviews to get a sense of the work he does and what he is capable of doing. I called him to see if he would be able to replace my battery on my 2014 MacBook Pro that I've had for 10 years. He was super friendly on the phone and told me that the battery was not in stock but could get it for the next day. I made an appointment with him for the next day at 10 am when he opens up. I followed his instructions on making sure the battery was either dead or close to dead. Which didn't take long since it would only hold a charge for 20 mins lol. The entire process took about 15 minutes. And that is opening the computer taking out the old battery, cleaning it and putting in the new battery and closing her back up. He was extremely professional and very pleasant to work with. The cost for the entire process was $199. Which I thought wasn't to bad considering the Apple Store would probably charge much more and getting a new Mac cost thousands. I am happy to report that my Mac now hold a much longer charge than 20 minutes. Highly recommend him if you are needing work done on your Mac or Apple products. read more

My husband found Rick because of a spam problem. I was having trouble with 2 of my MacBook Pro laptops. Took them to Rick. Easy to set up appointment. Both needed new batteries which he ordered and installed. A very fast turn around for a fair price. I think had trouble with the screen on another Macbook Pro. He put in a new screen and that computer is now working perfectly. Then something happened to one of the MacBook Pros with the new battery, so back to Rick for the 3rd time. He found water damage and replaced the case and some other things. I am now using the computer that I just picked up. It's working perfectly. Over the last few years, I catch myself complaining about "pride in service" attitudes disappearing from the service industry. That's definitely not the case with Macintosh Computer Tech. About a week ago I ran into some bad luck. I had lost my 2015 MacBook power cable and was roasting downtown in 100 degree heat with no vehicle or money to cover the $80 replacement. I called Rick and it just so happened, he had a used version of exactly what I needed for half the price. I hope this guy has a contract with someone and that's he makes his money because he has ZERO interest in acting like a business that serves customers. He will tell you he is by appointment only He will tell you to call to make an appointment as you are trying to do just that. He will ask you to call before you come to your appointment. When you do, even though you've made an appointment, he'll let you know he decided to do something else. Seems a nice enough fellow, but in three interactions with him, he inspired zero confidence. He immediately falls back on the fact that he has been doing this for over 20 years, which is the same thing I hear from anyone that can't use their technical knowledge and approach to inspire confidence. Same as folks using licenses as justification of their ability. I have been a licensed driver for over 20 years, but it doesn't mean I'm any good at it. Not worth the risk. UPDATE: for the record, I am not trying to be mean. All Rick said when I called to leave for our appointment was that he was getting an oil change. He hung up on me before stating it would only be 15 minutes. Did I get upset that he represented that he wasn't going to make the appointment, yes. I'm disappointed that the data I need will need to wait. However, I bought a $40 dock for the hard drive and will recover the data myself. Go to Rick for your big problems. My iMac crashed and the fusion drive had failed. After having the drive replaced, I needed to try and have the data recovered. Rick was ABSOLUTELY amazing. I dropped off both the fusion and hard drive and he managed to recover the data (I'm guessing everything). He explained everything, talked about what had happened, gave me advice, so that I wouldn't be in the same situation in the future. You guys, Rick is the best person ever. Unfortunately while I was out of town last week, a pipe burst and flooded almost every room in the house. Even worse, I had stupidly left my MacBookPro on the floor of my living room, next to the coffee table. I picked up my computer and water just poured out of the disc drive, I knew my computer was toast. I have thousands of photos on it (including wedding, honeymoon etc.) and I just stood there and cried. I NEVER back anything up, everything was on my computer. My whole life for the past 4 years. I made an appointment at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store for the next day. I took it in, told them what happened, and they said the computer was already corroding. Apple also doesn't do data recovery and they informed me I needed to take it third party to try and get any of my photos but it wasn't "looking good". They also told me it would cost $1400-$1500 to get my data back, but I shouldn't expect it to be there. I took my Mac to Rick the next day, based on yelp reviews. There was still standing water in my computer when he opened it up, and it was indeed corroding. He told me it looked "pretty bad" and I really lost hope of seeing my photos ever again. He said he would try a few things and get back to me. A few days go by and he tells me to bring him an external hard drive- he was going to be able to recover my data!! I brought it to him yesterday and he called me up today saying my new hard drive was ready to pick up! He even stayed open late to meet me. When he told me how much I owed, I was floored... He said it was a difficult job... He only charged me $160.00. What. I told you, Rick is the best. He is fair, honest and personable- I'm so happy people like him exist! I am going to bypass the Apple store from now on and take my computer directly to Rick. You should too. read more

I brought both my Mac and iPhone here when they started acting up one day. The service man, Rick, looked at both and quickly told me nothing was wrong and to just restart them, when there were clear issues. He finally told me the battery on my phone was going bad and took it back to put a new battery in. When he returned for me to pay him, the phone still didn't work and my phone was covered in cracks. I asked him about the cracks while I was paying him for the new battery (despite it not working) and he quickly told me he didn't want my money and threw my credit card at me and ran into his office.... I had never been here before and Rick had me come in within the hour with my MacBook Pro that had accidentally been wiped clean of everything during an update. Luckily I had an old back up hard drive and he stayed almost 2 hours past his closing time at 5pm, updated me to the highest operating system my old laptop could run and recovered all my old apps and files. Mac OS X Disk Utility displayed my four-year old iMac's hard drive in RED. With a notice: "drive failing...replace..." I called Rick and he said: 1. $80 for 1TB drive 2. Two hours labor for $150. (It turned out to be only 1.5 hours.) 3. Can fix today. (was done within 3 hours) He replaced the drive for a total of $196 (inc tax) and I restored using my SuperDuper! backup. All is well. He wasted no time taking the darn thing apart and running tests, discussing them as he worked and explaining things in a way a caveman like me could understand. The repair ended up being cost-prohibitive (that's what you get when your LCD, battery, and hard drive all need to be replaced), and Rick set me up with a fair price on an older laptop he had personally refurbished. When I encountered some minor issues a couple weeks later and time was of the essence, he stayed extra late to replace the battery and a wire at his own expense. My [stupidly, horrifically, painfully expensive] MBP went kaput, and the guys at Apple were absolutely worthless, so I was holding my breath that an independent guy with rave reviews would be able to provide a little more assistance. I called up Rick, and he told me to come on in so he could take a look. Within an hour, we ran some diagnostics and repaired a couple things which should keep my baby chugging along for a little while longer. He didn't ask for a penny, only that I keep in touch if/when it finally goes out for good (please, PLEASE do not happen now.. I'm time-machining and writing this from my phone..) I offered up some donuts and coffee for his help, to which I got a very funny look, so I'm singing his praises instead. I would recommend coming to Rick with your Apple problems before any other shop. His quoted rate for the future fix was just below Apple's, but I think I might rather have him do it than them. I read the other review here. Based off the experience I just had with iTech, I would just like to say that my experience was GREAT. I really think it's unfair for Joe J. to accuse iTech of writing bogus reviews. All of the other raving reviews are very much similar to my own: raving about Rick's timeliness (Dropped off my MacBook Pro on Thursday, and it was ready Friday, although I couldn't even pick it up until Monday!), patience, and personable experience. My guess is that the hard drive crashed, Joe got quotes from any of the typical hard drive recovery places (a typical hard drive data recovery costs a minimum of $5000), found iTech who quoted them a reasonable price, the hard drive was probably totally F'd and Rick probably refused to accept that the data couldn't be recovered and while he was trying everything in the book to recover Joe's data, Joe became whiny, and disgruntled. yada yada yada. Not sure if my ESP is accurate or not right now but the point is that there is another side of the story. There usually is, and after getting to know Rick a little, I can hardly imagine him being evasive like that for no reason. He called me a couple times to give me updates and I was never left wondering about the status of my repair. I'm so glad I found iTech. I will be going back every time I need something for my MacBook Pro or iMac or MacMini. Give them a try, Rick is a great, honest man! read more

In my opinion, I am not sure exactly where this business - if you can call it a business - got all of these great reviews online. I am not generally one to write a review on any business, but I feel that they deserve one here. We dropped our $2000.00 + MacBook Pro off at Macintosh Computer Itech Inc. (macitech) on 02/25. For over two months, the only news about the computer was that it had not yet been diagnosed. I was possibly too quick to understand, feeling that they may be busy with many repairs. I started to send them consistent emails, enquiring about the status of our MacBook Pro. Starting on 05/02, the email response I received was a simple apology and a promise to get an answer within the next day or two. On 05/05, the email i received in response was, "In progress. Tonight or in morning." It took another couple of days to get some news, which was, in so many words, that he had no idea what was wrong and there was no estimate for repair. It is now 07/24. Still no word or progress. I have lost total patience, which takes a lot for me as I, too, work in the service industry and understand the stresses associated with any service oriented field. I will now try to recover my expensive computer, which I have ever so graciously committed to the care of someone who, in my opinion, can not be trusted. I hope my machine is not left in pieces. I, however, feel that Macintosh Computer Itech, Inc.is a place that you should NOT EVER, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES WHATSOEVER, take your equipment for repair. Again, I am not one to criticize or write a poor review for any business, but it is my belief that this business earned this review in its entirety. I don't believe many, if not all 16, 5 star reviews for this business are true. Frankly, I think they spend some of their free time writing reviews for Macintosh Computer Itech, Inc (macitech.com). Update 07/31/2010 ***Since posting my review, I disassembled the wrecked computer, which I drove half way across town to pick up, only to realize that the hard drive was missing. Again THE HARD DRIVE WAS MISSING AFTER I PICKED UP MY COMPUTER FROM MACINTOSH COMPUTER ITECH, INC. I spoke to them on Wednesday, at which point they committed to getting back in touch with me on Thursday with a solution. It is now Saturday and I have not heard anything. It is no wonder they were not able to get our computer running. They had left the ribbon cable from the track pad and keyboard disconnected from the logic board and did not re-install the hard drive - this is in addition to many of the other connecters inside this machine that I found to be loose. I am now wondering if it is even worth trying to piece this machine back together. I seriously doubt they exercise necessary anti-static precautions when they work on a computer, so it would not surprise me if various chips and sensitive electrical components have been destroyed. ***Final update. We drove over to this business, again, to pick up the hard drive which was left out of our computer. Rick gave us the hard drive back and told us he was able to recover 6GB of information from it. He told us we could have the DVDs with our data as soon as we removed our reviews of his business from the internet. It's a sad and potentially expensive day when you break the LCD screen on your amazing 17" Macbook Pro (I'll pour a 40 on the sidewalk for my homie later). I could have had Rick fix it; he offered the best price in town (called 6 or 7 other Mac repair shops, he beat their price every time), but my dad happens to be a PC repair business owner, so it made more sense to sell it and use the money to buy a new PC that I can get repaired for free. I could have spent weeks on eBay and/or Craigslist trying to get the best deal possible, but Rick saved the day again and purchased it from me for a fair price. THIS IS THE PLACE TO GO!!! Rick is personable, real, and so knowledgable. Our computer would not turn on and the charging cable wouldn't light up. We took it in to the Apple Store and they claimed our Logic Board was broken which would be a $500 fix and we would lose all of our data. We didn't feel good about this "solution" so we brought it to Macintosh Computer iTech. He began working on our computer on the spot and within an hour, Rick discovered that all of our parts were fully functional but simply needed to be cleaned. After wiping down a few pieces with alcohol the computer booted up immediately. All data remained fully intact and it cost us $79. I can't explain how big of a relief it is that we came here! Important side note: Rick answered the first time we called him and offered to come in on a Saturday afternoon (outside of his normal business hours) to help us. Wonderful service. read more
