02/15/2018 I signed up for an event with Jack Daniels. This is the event space for the event. Looking for a parking space is definitely a challenge in this area. Check-in process was efficient with names on a tablet and a list on a sheet. There are a few bars set up inside because I was wandering around with three wooden drink chips. There is a DJ playing with a huge are for dancing while I waited for one of the pinball machines. They set up a little room with things of the 80's era. It was like walking through memory lane while in search of these keys. It was one of the games for attendees to turn in for schwag. In the back room there is a half court basketball station set up for a bit of shooting around. All while we were waiting for a customized baseball cap. You can select any of the patches on the cap that they offered. Plenty of people playing different hotel roles like a few maids, bellboys, front desk clerks. It was fun and Jack Daniels promoted with suggestions to take an Uber home for the night with $10 coupons. Drink responsibly and designate a driver. read more

Hendrick's Emporium of the Unusual event was certainly a good time for a weeknight. The Victorian-Steampunk theme added visual interest as we wandered from area to area. Outside the event, free (!) valet parking was offered in this "difficult to find a space" neighborhood. That was a great start. As we stood in line with other hipsters, we were told that they were letting in approximately 30 folks at a time. Also, we were given an opportunity to use the ladies' room inside the studio (but outside the event). Tiny ladies' room. And I agree with Joyce V. in docking them 1 star for no restrooms once inside the event. But I suspect that's to get us to exit the event quickly so they have a faster turn-over of imbibers. Once we gained entrance to the introductory room, the Victorian-Steampunk theme was evident everywhere, from the hosts' costumes to the decorative curiosities. You felt like you had entered an Alice in Wonderland rabbit-hole. In this little room, we were given two drink tokens and a shot of Hendrick's and tonic with a cucumber garnish. Then, the wall opened up into a walk-thru that looked like a foggy greenhouse. Once past that, we arrived in the large studio space set up into distinct areas. The first area was the towering lady with a tent under her skirts. We didn't gain access to this semi-secret area until we were ready to leave. There were two vertically challenged gentlemen guarding the entrance. I talked up number one, but it was number two who gave out the secret tokens for entry under the skirts. Epic fail on my part for not figuring it out, although we tried...(people who exited had been sworn to secrecy, darn it!) To the right of the skirt tent was a gentleman, a picture, metal skull and a bell. You'd rub the skull, tap on a bell, and bingo, the picture would rise up to reveal a velvet-covered shelf upon which rested your drink. Fun! The next area was toward the back where various wall decorations would open up and a gloved hand would appear to shake yours or tickle or offer Hendrick's playing cards (those I got!), roses, cucumbers, luggage tags (missed that). In this same area were two actors who played tortured writers typing away on ancient machines. Sometimes they'd stop and give you a card with some pithy quote on it. Funny. To the right side by the greenhouse entrance was the Wishing Well which featured a Victorian lady ladling out a gin punch. Lovely. We made our wish for peace in the Middle East and she stayed in character, telling us that in "her time" this wasn't as much of a concern. In the middle area, appetizers were passed out and those poor servers were descended upon by hipster piranhas. Good apps though- sliders, chicken meatballs, grilled cheese sandwiches. Great to soak up the alcohol. The drinks featured in the different areas were: a) Benevolent Bog (gin, cranberry compote, lemon juice, Ancho Reyes) - delish, b) Traveling Emporium Punch (gin, herbal tea, lemon juice, simple syrup, sparkling water, Angostura Bitters) - another winner, c) Cucumber Southside (gin, simple syrup, mint leaves) - too "ginny" for my taste, and d) Unusual Negroni (gin, Aperol, Lillet Blanc) - which I didn't get to try, but sounds yummy. Overall, a fun and unusual event. I liked the drinks that didn't taste like gin, and I guess that's probably their main goal is to convert usually non gin drinkers like me. The space is big, but the entrance is a little cramped. We order tickets online and we got there a little after the doors opened and the line was really long. We waited for an hour and in that hour we were constantly told: "You are NOT getting in because we are at capacity." "Sorry, thanks for waiting. You can join our email list and can get info on our other really cool events here." "We are at capacity, if you are past this point you will not be getting in. If you take your ticket (to a local bar) they will give you a free mason jar." No one needs this negativity and especially from the owner of the building, who came out once and said a something similar "I know we're at capacity because I own the building." I think the employees just wanted to go inside and wanted people standing in line to go elsewhere. We waited another thirty minutes and finally got in! It was the Fire Marshall that actually let us in, one employee actually said "ok guys, the Fire Marshall is going to let you, thank him because I was Not going to let you in." After all that we were able to see the band we wanted and left. ----- Word of advice. Close off tickets at a certain number and then have a will call or waiting list. If a person gets to the venue just after they opened the doors and there is a 300 person line and the venue is already at capacity, something's wrong, right? And don't tell me or bribe we with another local bar that will take my ticket and give me something for free. I plan for this event and waiting for this event. And also don't tell me to join your mailing list for other event like this one, because I not going to stand in some 300 person line to be told to leave because I'm not getting in because the venue is already at capacity. read more

I came here for a TV show taping. They must have different sections or other studios within this one building. In this area there were three events going on so I don't know if they were all at the same studio or if some of it was across the street. We had to do street parking. After circling for about five minutes we found something so that was nice. The studio that we were in haddock a small bar as well as a small stage and then the talk show seating in the center of the room. Then there were couches and other seating around the center talk show area. There is also a downstairs room that had a small bar and kind of served as the green room/VIP area. This place was a cool location because it was just big enough to see a lot of people but also just small enough to make it feel intimate and more like you're sitting at a very nice 99 seat theater decked out for a TV show taping. read more

Re: filming here and using the stages: The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Five stars there. The big downer: The soundstage is not adequately sound proofed, as it is marketed. You can hear a car idling outside, let alone the noise from the neighboring stage. Additionally, there is a basement speakeasy so in the late afternoon/early evening it's a complete loss sound-wise due to music piercing the floors. So, if you're filming something that requires recording sound, don't count on it being easily clean. Would absolutely be 1 star due to this, if not for the kindness of the staff. Maybe great if recording sound doesn't matter, but they shouldn't be advertising a sound-proof sound stage w/ these conditions. read more

Really high ceilings, white-washed walls, and back-drop walls make this a versatile venue. On the night of my visit, the venue was transformed for an informational tasting event. So, the venue was split into two sections. The first section welcomed guests where light refreshments were served and light hors d'oeuvres were passed around. The next section featured seating for the information session. The venue features a back kitchen where food can be prepped. Parking in around the venue is very limited. If you are planning an event, it is best if you inquire about valet services. Some other information: It is the location where Robin Thicke's Blurred Lines video was shot. read more

Whenever I hear, or see, studio, I fan girl out simply because of the things that take place in this location. It's definitely a small studio, but it was pretty neat. Parking is awful and it's hidden so you have to be careful not to bypass it. I was here for the 2013 Yelp Holiday Market and I enjoyed myself quite a bit! read more

It's a venue space with lots of room, so how good it becomes is up to the imagination of the people who use it. But there are a couple of drawbacks, it gets rather hot in here if theres a ton of people, the a/c system can't really handle it. Parking is a minor annoyance..... you can find street parking if you really wanted to but it might be a couple of blocks away. Also for such a big venue there aren't too many bathrooms so lines may develop... read more

What...no restrooms? How can that be for a drink tasting event? Luckily my friend Marisol's sister attended the night before and warned us of this unfortunate circumstance. We took care of business at the restaurant before the event. I don't know if this is a Mack Sennett issue or the Hendrick's Gin people who put on the event? If you're planning an event here, I'd advise you to look into that. Now to the space...it's centrally located in the heart of Silver Lake. They had valet parking but we found parking on the street. We were extremely cautious reading the signs as there are a lot of permit only parking areas. We got lucky across the street from the event space on Bates. I'm sure the space is a blank slate and it's up to the event coordinators to make it fabulous. Well, Hendrick's Gin did just that. They took you back in time, an old parlor full of curiosities. In the first room you were given a small shot of a cucumber gin drink and two tokens, an explanation and a little history of the gin. Then, voila, the bookshelf opens to the bigger space filled more to see and taste. The wall of interactive pictures was fun. Hands came out from behind the picture frames to play and give you things. We got a deck of cards, a rose, newspaper & a leather luggage tag. There was also a drinking well and drinks that came out from behind a picture frame. The best was the tent lady. She was perched about 15 feet high and her skirt was a secret tent bar guarded by little people. This was by random selection only. As luck would have it, we got in. We had fun. read more

We shot a high fashion commercial on their main cyclorama stage (5,000sq ft) and had a great experience. Brandon and Logan welcomed us right away and made us feel at home. We were able to park our 5 Ton G&E truck outside and load in easily. The studio has a very helpful staff who were always doing their best to accommodate our needs. The studio has everything you need...a place for costumes, hair & MU, kitchen, refrigerator, talent holding and plenty of space on their main stage to house equipment, props and a production staff. We were very happy and will definitely come back again! read more

If you throw a party here, you WILL get the cops called for breaking noise ordinances. This place destroyed the neighborhood. Stop having loud parties with booming bass going all night. It makes my house VIBRATE. You're constantly violating noise ordinances. Stop throwing parties where all your guests take all of the parking in the neighborhood. It's like living next to a frat house, except right in the middle of a nice quiet neighborhood. Totally sucks that they moved in. They've been driving me crazy for ages now, but I just thought to write a yelp review about it. Don't care if I sound 40 years older than I actually am. Stick to film shoots, guys. Nothing but amazing things to say about this space! I've been here for multiple events/parties as well as worked on a few film shoots, and every time has been a success. It's one of LA's hidden gems. Mack Sennett Studios really saved the day for us. We had an all night car exterior shoot planned for our final day of production. When we saw that we were looking at 100% chance of rain, Mack Sennett opened its doors to us on short notice and made sure that we had everything we needed in order to get set up and make our day. I attended the full moon yoga & gong meditation at this venue and it was pretty cool. The studio is very industrial with great vintage touches. It's located in a very quiet part of the Silverlake hood and parking was easy to find on the street. I am excited to attend other events at this studio! read more

Let these dudes borrow a parking lot for entire weekend because I was trying to be neighborly and courteous. It was a horrible decision on my part, my business suffered tremendously. All of our customers on that busy weekend struggled to find parking spots along the crowded streets nearby. (Obviously they asked to borrow my parking lot for a reason lol.) I thought I gave them a super good price considering it was an entire weekend + the parking lot which I PAY FOR my business , was going to literally be TAKEN OVER by annoying valet parking /flooded the lot w/ cars.. none of which were our. Again I was trying to be a good neighbor.... at the end of the day these pieces of shit who own Mack Sennett scammed me out of ever paying their already reasonable priced parking lot payment. They had some weirdo manager chick pull some bullshit saying that she ran across the street one of the days to give me a partial payment.. never happened.. never got a dime. Was on the phone w/ them a few weeks after the incident and just kept getting the run around... fuck these dudes. Who treats their neighbors like that? Whack af, these busters who own this place are probably transplant , out of Towners... I dunno if that's a fact. All I know is I'm a native and grew up on these streets and there's a code of conduct in La to never treat our neighbors this way. read more

From the first sit-down to the actual event- they were helpful, flexible and enabled our small non-profit to put on a quality professional community event that had attendees talking for weeks.
