It's one thing to play music indoors, but to subject the entire neighborhood to this unbearable noise OUTSIDE is beyond inconsiderate. And to make matters worse, it wasn't even good music--it was a horrendous cacophony (think a group of untrained 12-year-olds messing around with instruments for the first time). It's impossible to sleep, relax, or even think straight with this noise pollution rattling through the streets.

Check-in process was efficient with names on a tablet and a list on a sheet. There are a few bars set up inside because I was wandering around with three wooden drink chips. There is a DJ playing with a huge are for dancing while I waited for one of the pinball machines. They set up a little room with things of the 80's era. It was like walking through memory lane while in search of these keys. It was one of the games for attendees to turn in for schwag. In the back room there is a half court basketball station set up for a bit of shooting around. All while we were waiting for a customized baseball cap. You can select any of the patches on the cap that they offered. Plenty of people playing different hotel roles like a few maids, bellboys, front desk clerks. It was fun and Jack Daniels promoted with suggestions to take an Uber home for the night with $10 coupons. Drink responsibly and designate a driver.

At first glance it's a vintage clothing store but, in reality, it's a community gathering space. Founded by Griffen & Lureena Thompson, this charming little shop is filled with second-hand clothing, accessories, & home goods. Everything is nicely organized. There's a section with designer apparel and discounted racks. If you fancy a coffee, Vanskap is brewing from noon - 2 pm. Have a seat on the comfy couch, sip your beverage, & stare in awe at the captivating mosaic stone floor that was hand created by Lureena. It's a beautiful work of art. How come I have never visited the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center till now even if I…read morevisit Little Tokyo a few times a year? The answer is simple, they close on the weekends! I happened to check it out during Nisei Week festivities when it was finally opened during the weekend to see some of their exhibits located on various floors, mostly pottery. Impressions? I like the idea of the center, it is very needed in the community, the exhibits were very interesting but not that enjoyable to browse, some had chains to keep you away from the art, meaning the furthest away I have ever been in an art gallery and it made it hard to see details. Also, staff didn't try to talk to you, explain, they were talking to each other, it seemed liked you crushed a party! The place is outdated and I usually don't like to use this term, I like older things. But here, especially the restrooms need a makeover, sinks in particular are in terrible shape. The bathrooms need to be cleaner, they were smelly and lacked paper towel. Free to visit, they do charge for some events (tea ceremony), hard to find it opened, though!
