Ms Cole was able to create a plan to make sure that I was taken care of on my wedding day and had it booked in her calendar with no deposit. Ms Cole was able to style my hair with extensions within 45 minutes (I came with my hair washed and dried)! I was very surprised, but happy as I was early for our wedding. I was happy with my hair and I received many compliments on it the day of and after. Ms. Cole's price was a little higher than I usually pay for professional styling, but within the price range for bridal styles in the area; in fact I think she was a bit low for total service (bridal style with ext) for the area as well. Her location is right across the street from Crazy Pins. She's a busy lady, so you want to book her quick! Any questions I had about my hair she took time to explain, but most of all she made sure I was able to understand how to care for it myself in order to maintain its integrity in off weeks. Shawana is not just a stylist she is a teacher. I also have 3 daughters who are natural and the growth I have seen in their hair has been amazing. She somehow manages to address their individual needs and personality each time she sees them. This can be a challenge since they range in ages from 6 to 15, but everytime my children leave they look age appropriate and they are all happy. One of my favorite things about Shawana is that she is by appointment only! Gone are the days of sitting in a salon waiting for a stylist who has 3 or 4 other clients with my same appointment time. I am usually finished within 1 1/2 to 2 hours depending on the service I am having. Who could ask for anything more!!!! There is so much I could say about her, but if you don't do anything else at least take the time to do a consultation and determine for yourself the next step you would like to take. The stylist, Kristen Eiden, convinced my daughter that she needed to have her hair colored (instead of highlighted) and proceeded to spend 4.5 hours to accomplish this. My daughter came in with a picture of how she wanted her hair to look (see attached pictures). Instead of blonde highlights, she came away looking like a brunette with some gray mixed in. Kristen convinced my daughter that her hair looked good and had her believing it until she got to look at it outside of the salons lighting. After seeing her hair, she began to cry because she strongly felt that she would be made fun of at school. My wife reached out to the salon that evening stating that we had significant concerns with the styling. The receptionist said she would reach out to Kristen and have her contact us. We didn't hear anything back, so my wife tried reaching out to Kristen via Facebook Messenger and received no response at all. My wife called the salon in the morning and asked to speak with a manager. She was told that the manager/owner wouldn't be contacting her back until the end of the week! My daughter literally refused to go to school, so we were left with no other option but to go to another salon to have her hair fixed. We finally received a call back from Kristen, 24 hours after the incident occurred, and she and the owner of A Day Away Salon refused to issue any kind of refund and took zero responsibility for the issue that had occurred. If you want absolutely terrible customer service and a botched hair job, this is the salon for you!
