Okay guys - leaving this because calls and talking to the person that hands me my order isn't doing their job. I'm not kidding when I say we have ordered 5 Thai Pie Pizzas now. It used to be our favorite pizza in Billings. With the last 5 orders, none of them have been made correctly! EX: missing peanuts , missing mandarin oranges, missing fresh cilantro, served with the incorrect sauce. We have continued to come back hoping that my calls have made things better. They have not. Also - when you hand out a $28 pizza - I firmly believe the box should NOT have greasy finger prints all over it. When I came in Sunday night - I literally asked her to please check our pizza to confirm it was made correctly. Maybe she did maybe she didn't - it was incorrect and all around ugly. Lacked effort, quality and again the box was filthy. I hope you guys step up- we love coming in. We love picking up and we love coming in for a beer and appetizers. This place used to be great. I ate here frequently when I was going to school in Bozeman. Over the years they just seemed to have quit caring. Their restaurants haven't changed in YEARS, and they're starting to look old and not maintained. The food is about the same. It used to be unique and delicious! Every visit was a great experience. Everything on the menu was a home run. The problem is that the menu has barely changed and the quality has taken a major nose dive. The ingredients taste frozen and cheap. It's garbage and it's very sad to see. Don't even get me started on shitty customer service. The entire restaurant chain needs a major overhaul. Absolutely love this place! I have a large family and they are able to accommodate us in seating and food options. I always look forward to going here when I visit. On my last visit, we had a group of 30! They saw us in the bar area with plenty of space. We had two waiters who were very kind and quick. I got the baked chicken Alfredo. I thought it tasted delicious! It was hot in temperature in the flavors were great! I thought it was a great take on a classic dish. I can't wait to go back and reminisce in the memories of this wonderful restaurant with my family. read more

Three of us stepped into Mackenzie River Pizza around 7:00 this evening to celebrate a family member's birthday. The young server was pleasant enough but that's where it ends. For starters, the lodgepole appetizers were not baked long enough. Hence, they were doughy, overly salted and greased with cheese of an indecipherable 'flavor.' The fiesta bowl I ordered was inedible. The flank steak was so dry and tough that I didn't regret the fact that there were only four shoe-string sizes of the beef layed out in the bowl. Also, something about Jasmine rice in a Mexican dish just isn't a good fit... Additionally, cold black beans, corn, queso, a slice of avocado and 4 jalapenos didn't do a thing for this entre. I had to ask for the chili lime salsa, which I need not have bothered with. Another member of our party ordered the Hawaiian pizza, the crust of which was tasty but we had a heck of a time trying to locate the pineapple pieces on the pizza itself. A mere 3 pointer... The third member of our party ordered flat bread specialties. Ho hum. Ho Ho hum. Finally, the waiter never did refill the water glasses - a small thing perhaps, but each of us could have used the water to wash down what we were attempting to swallow. Two beers, Lodge poles, a fiesta bowl, a pineapple pizza and some flatbread pizza slices cost us about $100.00. none of us ever regrets paying good money for good food, but this evening's meal was not the latter. Too damn far from it. I have no plans to return to Mackenzie River Pizza. Simply put, the meal we had looked forward to was a bust. A huge and surprising disappointment! read more

Came here with my Montana family for a party of 5. I didn't really have a taste for pizza so I ordered their Cajun bowl (without the shrimp). The bowl included jasmine rice, grilled chicken, Italian sausage, peppers which made it a little spicy . But what can I say we all need a lil spice in our lives every now and then . read more

This place has gone so far downhill. Used to be our go to neighborhood joint. Used to have great servers especially on the pub side, and good food. Now we go in and the pub is deserted. Wait for 20 min for anyone to speak to or acknowledge us. I get it that help is hard to find, but even when we went in for a couple of beers - takes 20 min to get those. Seems like a lot of people at the computers, but not many checking in on customers. Just weird. And sad. Can't recommend. read more

The prior reviews on the facility are not really accurate on regards to quality flavor service and overall experience. I ordered a buffalo chili and the good old boy pepperoni pizza. The chili was filling flavorful and the perfect portion. The pizza was the star of the show, the thin crust and the pepperonis made for a wonderful meal. The crust was crispy but not burnt the pepperoni was excellent. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting Billings Montana. read more

I am not one to leave bad reviews. I've worked in restaurants, I can understand an off night once in a while. But this was a pretty dismal meal. Just picked up my first order with this location. The large house salad I ordered was pathetically small and had a single carrot, with one or two grape nuts and a lot of lettuce that had gone bad. The kids pizzas came with sides, which were dried up carrots and wrinkled celery, and three chunks of slimy melon. The pizza was fine, but the boxes were covered in greasy fingerprints. I've been eating at Mackenzie River for years in other towns, but will not be returning to this location. read more

We walked in on Tuesday evening around 7:30 pm. Around 15 guests, scattered throughout the restaurant. We were greeted promptly, at the "Please wait to be seated" sign, by our server, armed with menus & then seated straight away. The soup of the day was Tomato Basil, which our server described as a "glorified marinara". My wife asked for a sample to taste and she said he was spot on. It tasted like a pasta sauce. Unfortunately, not a very good one. Wife ordered the Mackenzie Cobb Salad with House & Ranch dressings, on the side. This is her "go to" salad here. For this visit, everything in the salad was fresh and plentiful. The chicken was moist & seasoned nicely. I ordered the Taos Salad, for a change of scenery. I sub'd jalapenos for the normally included Pepperoncinis, which are very similar to Banana Peppers (Google it). The salad itself was good. However, I'm not a fan of the Chicken Chili, which was intended to be the jewel of the salad. The chili was too thick, for my liking & tasted mostly like tomato & chili powder. There was also a major lack of the tortilla strips. Texturally, the salad needed more. Our server was very friendly, attentive & accommodating throughout the meal. My husband and I had our second date and a MacKenzie River Pizza Co. in Great Falls TEN YEARS ago (yikes)! So, when we returned to Montana, we just had to check out this Billings location. We've been living in Chicago for the past few years, so I feel like we know good pizza, and MacKenzie River did not disappoint! We tried two different pizzas, but the Hot Hawaiian really stood out - yum! We were served quickly - but not too quickly (gotta have time to hang out), and our server and her trainee both did an excellent jobs helping us pick out pizzas from the huge menu and keeping our drinks full. I had their new fiesta protein bowl in Helena and it was amazing. I've went twice to Billings and both times were terrible. The first it was cold and took literally an hour to get. It wasn't busy. The host was busy being a server and the host. I was trying to be patient but after waiting that long and the food was cold it was disappointing. I wanted the bowl so I gave it another try a few months later and it was the saltiest food I've ever ate. I couldn't finish it. The cook must have done something wrong because it was so bad I had to stop. The other people I was with had complaints about their food too. The Reuben sandwich was cold, fries were cold, no refills on drinks, etc. I try and love this place but the Billings west end location makes it really hard to. I have family in Kalispel and they said they've never had any issues. read more

Never had a bad meal here. Service has always been courteous and prompt. Since moving to Texas, it's one if the things we really miss about Montana. All of their pizzas are the best. Haven't found a house salad any better anywhere. read more

I enjoyed eating in at the Restaurant on Main Street, however had a delivery from the one on Grand today, Everything seemed small, sparse in fact I ended up adding ingredients to the salads & wraps, Now thinking this was a waste of $$. Prefer the heights location in Billings over this one. The Heights just seemed cleaner, and better managed. It has the same Mac Piz feel, just a better version. I don't know. I got the Cottonwood pizza this time and it was kinda underwhelming. Will stick to my favorite, the Flathead. The lunch special pizzas are $3 off a large or $1.50 off a small. I always love the Greek salad. The dressing is so tasty. This time the tomatoes weren't even ripe. That was a bummer. But it won't keep me from returning. I love their beer selection and found a Scottish on tap from the brewery in Sidney that was pretty darn amazing. read more

Their house salad & dressing are SO AMAZING. the pears and grape nuts are so so good together. :) Athenian pizza and the chicken sandwich are what I always get. So delicious. My family went to this restaurant at exactly 5:18 tonight. It was not busy and it took a little long for any waitress to come and talk to us. We eventually ordered our food, which was 2 small pizzas and a kids pasta. We waited for an extremely long time until eventually our waitress came up to us and told us our order was behind several others and it was going to take a while. At this point, every person that had entered the restaurant around the same time as us were already eating. After waiting until 6:50 (over 90 minutes) we decided to leave. When we talked to the manager he was not in any way apologetic and was a little rude to my wife. He told us "we aren't giving anyone free pizza". We were not looking for a free meal in any way. We just wanted a nice dining experience with our two kids. We were very disappointed with this restaurant and their manager and will never go back. It was unbelievable how disorganized and unprofessional the staff were. We were just one of several groups frustrated with the staff tonight. I have to give MacKenzie River Pizza five stars because it is my wife's absolute favorite pizza place. Any mention of the name of this establishment will cause her stomach to rumble and a thick strand of drool to dangle from her lips, St. Bernard-style. The pizzas are substantial, but they are neither Lil' Caesar's greasy gut bombs or Domino's cardboard food substitutes. They have great seasonal specials, as well. We ordered a pizza with huckleberry ricotta and elk sausage - delish! If there is a better pizza in Billings, I have not had it yet. Having only visited once, I'm going 3 stars for now and hope future visits can bump up my rating. My first visit here was just A-OK- nothing bad just nothing great or exciting about our meal/experience here. I do like that they have a rewards card/app - sign up to get a free flatbread! We tried their Lodgepoles (aka cheesy breadsticks), and they were good but nothing special. My husband enjoyed his thin crust pizza, and my flatbread was tasty but kind of lacking in the wow factor. Kids' meals were fine and predictable, though they forgot the fruit until we requested it. Service was good but not great, especially when we were ready for our bill. And food was pretty slow. However, food was very reasonably priced and so were the beers! So, all in all, A-OK. It's pretty close to our new home in Billings, so I'm sure we'll be back to try it again. read more
