I called up Mackenzie River Pizza from Chico, California to make a reservation. I honestly did not know what to expect but the manager (I believe his name was Rich) was so helpful and set us up with a reservation for Friday at 7:00. We got to the place 15 minutes late on Friday but they accommodated us pretty quick. We had to wait, no more than 10 minutes before they could seat our whole group (18) and even though the wait was short, the manager apologized and brought us out some free cheese bread sticks to munch on (which tasted amazing). Once we were seated the food was delivered in a decently prompt fashion which our athletes appreciated. Being cross country runners, they are constantly hungry and can get impatient when it comes to food at times so the quick serves did not go unnoticed. The waitress was very nice and continuously checked on us. To give you an idea of how often she would come by I can tell you that one runner on the team got a glass of lemonade which she had refilled 5 times. I've never been to dinner with anyone who has had that many refills in one sitting, perhaps this is because no one needs that much, but regardless I was impressed with how on top of everything she was. The food itself was amazing! Each bite burst with flavor and had me excited for the next. I also could not believe how cheap everything was. Nearly every meal I looked at was 10 dollars give or take a buck. Also, at the end of the meal, they even offered to fill up anyone's water bottle on the team (seeing as everyone on the team carries it around to stay hydrated). Amazing service, cheap prices, and delicious food. 5/5 Stars without a doubt. Must try. read more

Used to be our go to restaurant in the heights, but it's been going downhill. Ate there last night and food wasn't good. Nachos were extremely salty and they changed the lodgepole recipe, papa Murphy's bread sticks are better than these now. They also sold their liquor license, but at least they still have a good beer selwction read more

Horrible service and they charge $8 more for gluten free lodge poles...such a rip off and we're not made aware of this outrageous charge when ordering. Will never visit this location again. Great Falls location is very accommodating and we love that location. They do not take advantage of gluten free customers. read more

So good! Our waitress Rachel was wonderful! Food was delicious and even the wine was good! Much improved food and service was awesome.

Worst experience! Dined in with my two kids and it was absolutely awful! My son's hamburger came out raw, I politely send it back and I can hear the waitress talking to the other waitress about our table. Thanks for that! Finally got the hamburger back and my son couldn't even eat it, said it was rock hard. Poor guy, but I wasn't about to send it back AGAIN for fear of the Rath of the waitresses! Politely asked for our check so we could get the heck out of there when I noticed they over charged us several items (kids drink come with a kids meal?!?! And since when do they charge for ranch??) Rather than complain yet again, I just paid our bill and left. We will absolutely never eat there again. read more

That was some of the worse food we have had in a while. Living in Great Falls for 7 years we thought after being gone for the last 5 we would go back for some great food... Boy we were wrong! We ordered a kids pizza, Willow creek sandwich and another small pizza. The kids pizza was so gross I let my kid eat just fries for dinner. It was soaking in grease and tasted like a frozen pizza. My sandwich was soggy and it was suppose to have avocado on it. The tiny price was so small I had to take apart the entire thing to find one of the main ingredients! Sad day read more

Two friends and I went here April 17 while I was visiting town because I love the buffalo mack n' cheese. What a horrible experience! One of my friends and I arrived there at 12:45, sat down, ordered our drinks and an appetizer while we waited for our other friend. We received our drinks no problem. My other friend arrived at 1:05. She ordered a drink , which we received at 1:10 but still no appetizer. While she was bringing the second friends drink out there was a beer ordered and our main dishes. 1:10 was the LAST time we saw our waitress. 1:40 rolls around, still no beer or appetizer out. Now, the waitress let us know when we ordered our main dishes that the kitchen was backed up because of a banquet of 35 at the restaurant. I personally feel like it is unprofessional to tell that to paying customers, and I think it is extremely unprofessional not to staff appropriately for a party that size. But all this is NO excuse for her not coming around for half an hour plus. So when 1:40 hit I walked up to a different waitress to tell her we still hadn't gotten our appetizer (an hour after order) and we hadn't received my friends beer. She gave me massive attitude telling me that a large banquet had put the kitchen behind. I told her to tell our waitress we wanted the beer. 10 more minutes pass and we all leave without seeing our waitress again. Very disappointing. read more

I've been eating at MacKenzie River Pizza for over a decade. Not often, but it's typically decent pizza when you're in a pinch (say travelling or the like). Grabbed a couple pizzas from this location while on a big road trip. Absolute grease bombs. My kids love pizza but they could only eat one piece each. I got two down and felt kind of sick. Waaaay too much cheese. In general, MRiver is kind of like a halfway decent version of Pizza Hut, but I'd stay far away from this Billings one, even if you're desperate. read more

What a pleasant surprise. We are big fans of a crunchy thin crust pizza. But rarely find one that meets our standards. After very bad experience last Frida (July 10, 2015) at the MAIN STREET location in Billings, MT, we will probably not go back ~ unless something is corrected. We had a party of 8 ~ some from out of town who wanted to try MacKenzie River. Called and were told could NOT take a reservation but if we came in, we would be accommodated. Two of our party went ahead by 15 minutes......the restaurant was NOT busy except for a party in the covered patio. We wanted to move 3 of the smaller tables together so we could all sit, but were told by the hostess that could not be done "in case we get other customers." When asked if we could consult with the manager, we were told she is also the COOK and could not come out to talk with us. What a BAD DEAL:(.....We went across Main Street to the VIG where we got such good service (and spent $150 total lunch.......what MacKenzie missed out on "in case there were other customers"). Made a really bad impression on out of town guests, and we (locals) were not pleased either. Apparently, the hostess was NOT offering any cooperation, but the waitress was trying. The hostess wanted to put all 8 of us in a BOOTH that holds 5 or 6 tightly squeezed. Really, this was just poor business. read more
