    Orange Hazelnut Pinwheel

Had no idea this existed and so glad I found it! We enjoyed a sausage biscuit and orange pinwheel at the recommendation of the employee. Both were absolutely delicious. There was a lot of seating options and service was friendly and nice. I also enjoyed a vanilla sugar latte with their house made syrup.

Great place for lunch. Fair prices. Good coffee. Nice place to partake our meal in a relaxed setting. Service was fast, friendly and efficient.

This is my most frequented Macrina location. Since it's near work, I'm often picking up food for lunch meetings. I will call ahead to put my order in and pick up at the designated time. Shay, Gretchen & crew are amazing to work with. The carne salad and sandwiches rotate every two weeks. I'm also a fan of their morning glory muffins and desserts. There's something for everyone here.

They had some yummy cookies and desserts. The flavors were so unique. It was nice for after dinner.

Mmmm, really glad I came across this location in Sodo-last time I recall visiting an actual Macrina cafe was 15 years ag when I lived in capital hill. Allllll the pastries and baked goods are delicious, oh boy. I got some blueberry scones to take home and they were scrumptious (we added some creme fresh and blueberries) with coffee for breakfast. The chicken pot pie was amazing. My husband took one bit to taste it but ended up eating the whole thing. The sandwiches were made fresh and nicely toasted. I visited on a Tuesday around 10:30 a.m. and it was pretty busy with lots of folks enjoying themselves inside. Limited parking.

I loved this place. The interior was adorable, and that was just the start. I ordered an iced vanilla latte to be on the safe side, and threw in a raspberry-rhubarb upside down cake. Turns out they make their own vanilla sugar. The latte was really good! I then tried my sister-in-law's mocha and it was even better! The upside down cake was pretty good, but the real showstopper pastry was the pecan roll my husband ordered. Whew! It was crunchy, soft, sweet, but not too sweet. It was perfect. I would've bought 10 of them if they had them. I wish this was closer to me! Or maybe I don't for my wallet's sake.

    You call this a matcha?

I had a terrible experience here. I politely asked the barista if he could remake my drink because it was all foam and he was so rude and told me next time I order a latte, to know what a latte is. The next drink he gave me was simply water and milk. I'm not the type to ask for a remade drink but this was just rude

I've heard a lot about this place so I wanted to check it out. The pastry case looks amazing as you enter and the smell is pleasant. I ordered the Carne sandwich (turkey, bacon & avo) on a roll & chicken and rice soup. The soup was good albeit bland. Could use some seasoning. The sandwich was probably the biggest let down. The the bread was really good but they put 1 sad little slice of turkey, a very small amount of avo. It's more of a bread sandwich than anything else. I recommend adding 1-2 more slices of turkey if you want to make this a great sandwich. People were friendly and helpful. All-in-all, I give a 3 out of 5 mostly for the pastries.

Cake descriptions on the website but you have to go in for slice and cupcake availability- you can't pre-order slices. The shop is easy to get to with ample close parking. Inside is cute and industrial. The shop folks were lovely as well, really warm and inviting. We selected 4 slices- malted chocolate, blackout cake, funfetti, and carrot pineapple. All the whole cakes were simply decorated, but beautiful. The hubs said his funfetti cake was okay, but not outstanding. I thought it was more of a white butter cake with nice chewy sprinkles. Delicious, but maybe not the explosion he was expecting. A classic birthday cake, elevated. The blackout cake has a really rich flavor without being overwhelming- a more milk chocolate Matilda cake vibe. The carrot pineapple is pretty much a perfect carrot cake- not spice or nut, but CARROT, in the most beautiful way. The buttercream on the carrot cake is the best I can remember having- butter flavor and a smooth, sweet cream taste. But all those accolades aside- the chocolate malt cake is, simply put, the cake I would go back for. The cake itself is a perfect, moist chocolate malt flavor, without an artificial tasting aftertaste. The frosting is if they made the inside of a malted milk chocolate candy into a light, fluffy buttercream, without the cloying sweetness. I am not a huge sweets person, but cake is a special weakness. This may be the best cakery I've been to- and one I will gladly pay for.

When learning they're sold out of the PB&J, I asked the cashier which slice I should get with the options I gave her. She suggested the salted caramel slice. The salted caramel slice was really gross. As if it was or almost foul. The cake had a flavor of acidity and expiration. Maybe thought there was rum or some type of alcohol in the slice, but there isn't. I was happy when they gave an extra caramel slice on the house but after a bite, no thank you. I couldn't finish the bite & it really disappointed us as it was my bf's birthday celebration. The cupcake was quite delicious as it had a nutty texture jam on the inside. Cake was soft, wasn't so sweet and loved the mixture of texture. The seasonal key lime slice was yummy. Super light graham cake flavor, good dense cake. Not so flavorful but it wasn't as disappointing as the other one. The lime flavor was the only star of the slice. After being excited to try this place for months, and after so many attempts at trying this bakery- this may not be a go to spot for me. Avg $11-11.50 per slice

The store is spacious with a garage door that I can only imagine would be nice to open on summer days. I ordered their s'mores cake. It can either come in a smoked cake or their dark decadence. I went with the dark decadence. It comes with a toasted marshmallow, graham cracker (house made?), and a scoop of vanilla ice cream on a bed of chocolate sauce. This was *so* decadent. I wanted something sweet yet warm since the weather was getting cold. This would pair nicely with a warm drink which I would get next visit. Curious to try their cookies & ice cream next time. I have a few minor hiccups with my visit. One issue fell with the compostable bowl. I like that it's an earth conscious item, but also it's hard to scrape all the cake without feeling like you are going to get the bowl material scraped off with it. The other thing would their restrooms. You need to go outside the store into another door near the winery next door. It just felt a little sketch late at night. Staff are up front taking orders and grabbing the stuff you ask for. Small slices of cakes are available, and notices around mention to call ahead of time if you want larger sizes of those same cakes. We both decided to share their rainbow cake, which is a three-layer strawberry, lime and orange along with guava, lime and passion fruit flavored layers on top. Not much to say about this other than despite all these sweet profiles coming together, no one flavor outshined another flavor, and overall cake wasn't too sweet, surprisingly. One slice for $7.45 before tax is oddly huge even for the two of us to finish though, so this cake is definitely not best eaten alone; it's too good for that anyway! My favorite layer was the guava layer for how sweet yet mild it was. I've come back before for birthday cakes, and now I can see myself also coming back casually for their other cakes! Really high recommend for anyone around the area!
