Who doesn't love a huge piece of cake??! After hearing multiple people recommend this place to me, I had to give it a try. I don't really have a sweet tooth so I was a bit worried that I would find all the pieces too sweet, but I was pleasantly surprised! I came at 4:30pm on a Saturday and a lot of the flavors were unfortunately sold out. I ended up getting a slice of the banana coffee caramel and a slice of lemon cream to share with my boyfriend. My favorite was the banana coffee caramel slice and I will be thinking about this for a long time because it was so good! The coffee cream on top was delightfully bold and it balanced the banana cake taste. The piece was really sweet but I think all of the flavors helped add much needed depth. Both slices of cake were really moist. The lemon cake tasted very classic but I wish it was a bit more tart. The olive oil cake aspect elevated the cake from being a basic lemon cake. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I liked the color scheme of the indoor seating area and I felt that there were a lot of places to sit. The service was to the point and the cake slices were brought out promptly. Overall, this place is great if you have a sweet tooth. The cake is expensive but depending on the flavor you get it could be worth it. I would come back to try the carrot cake and other seasonal flavors!

05/21/2026 My friend heard good things about the cake here, so we stopped by to grab a couple slices. They are large, shareable slices. All of the flavors looked so good. We decided on the two specials of the month - Passionfruit Fudge and Key Lime Graham. We asked for the two to be packaged separately. I appreciate that they lined both the bottom and the top of the slices with parchment paper, so it transported well. Both flavors were so good! The passionfruit fudge was decadent but hard to resist! We had leftovers that we ate the next day, and they were still good. The combo of passionfruit and chocolate seemed weird to me at first, but somehow it worked. With the key lime, the cake was soaked in a honey syrup. It wasn't overly sweet, which was a good balance with the other components. I would definitely go back to try other flavors!

My partner surprised me with 3 slices today...yes, 2 are completely gone, half of one remains. I've been home less than an hour. I ate 75 if not 80% of it alone. She picked me up the seasonal ones (except the caramel coffee since it was sold out- also how wild since they opened only a few hours ago)! I've had the banana pudding cake before and liked it a lot (still do) the chocolate malt isn't my favorite but it was still good...I just don't think the chocolate is chocolatey enough. HOWEVER, the special of the day- man, oh man, that one is a show stopper. Banana coffee and salted caramel?! Every bite was so good, moist cake, salty caramel, hints of coffee. This is better than my other favorite coffee salted caramel ricotta cake...I have a lot of favorites. But right now, this one is on top. Top 2 to Date: blackberry oreo, banana coffee caramel Deep Sea needs to stop making such amazing stuff because I'm tired of working out to be able to consume so much of their cake.

    The setup

YUM!!! I learned about Deep Sea when I was on Instagram. The cakes looked so good that I had to go try them. I couldn't put it into action for a few months because Georgetown is far from Ballard, where I'm based, and I had no idea what the neighborhood is like. Anyways, on my birthday morning, I decided to give it a try because I had to be in a nearby area in the afternoon for another event. And it didn't disappoint! I went in thinking I want to get a cupcake and a cake slice, but the cake options looked better than the cupcakes so I ended up with two slices of cake. With coffee, it came to a hefty price of $30. I thought I wouldn't go over $30, but Seattle tax is freaking hefty so that was why. For coffee options, they only offer self served drip coffee for $4.5. I'm happy with my drip coffee, it was good, but I wish they didn't jack up the coffee price, because the cake is expensive already and you're pouring the drink yourself. I just assumed it's bottomless coffee. I bought the chocolate blackout and the carrot cake. I love it when bakeries don't put coconut flakes in the carrot cake because that's my least favorite thing. They were both great. Chocolate cake flavor is kind of monotonous so I found myself getting bored of it fairly quickly. Also, I'm not sure if I like the taste of chocolate cream cheese frosting. In my opinion, the chocolate and cheese flavors were a bit too much. Carrot cake was so, so good. They do their plain cream cheese frosting great. There is a good amount of seats indoor and I saw there are some seats right outside as well. I wonder bikers take a cake break here, because the neighborhood seemed bike friendly. Staff was nice and helpful. I brought a large Tupperware with me because I knew I won't finish it in one sitting. Initially, I asked the cakes to go and they put each slice in individual compostable boxes. I'm not a huge fan of those boxes because it can come undone easily for the cakes to fly out, and they're bulky. Fortunately, they wrapped the slices with two wax papers, so I was able to move them into the Tupperware easily. As stated earlier, I did get a little bored of the chocolate cake, but the cakes still tasted well the next day from the fridge and I was happy I got to enjoy them over a long time.

Two slices of cake plus a cupcake ended up costing over $30ish. The ginger molasses cupcake was doable, not overwhelmingly sweet to the point where you couldn't finish it. Their cake slices are sized like two typical slices combined, so I'd recommend sharing one if you're getting a cake slice rather than a cupcake. Unless you loveeee sugarrr! That said, the ginger molasses slice cake was far too sweet for me. My partner and I both took two small bites and couldn't continue. It honestly felt like eating two big spoonfuls of brown sugar. One compliment I'll give them is that the cake is very moist. The London Fog cake wasn't too bad. It wasn't overly sweet and was fairly tolerable, with a mild hint of Earl Grey. I probably won't come back unless I'm sharing a cupcake with someone, since the cake slices are too expensive for what they are. Also, a heads-up, some of the cakes on display may look like there's only one slice left, but they actually have more in the back kitchen.

The best cake I've had in years. I had been lamenting my cake journey in Seattle when I was recommended to check out Deep Sea Sugar & Salt and wow am I grateful I did. Wide variety of of cakes slices (something for everyone!), perfect moisture & also the perfect balance of rich in flavor but like not too sweet.

Cookies and cream cup cake 5/5

Cakes are really flavorful with a perfectly moist crumb. The frosting tastes really good to the point that I indulged rather than scrape it off. We tried the triple chocolate, blackberry pistachio, London fog, and coffee cardamom. All of them were so unique and yummy and I'd want to try the other flavors they have. 4 large slices were about $50. Service was incredibly slow on the day we went - even though we ordered in advance for pick up, we had to wait in line and then wait for them to go in the back to get the slices which took a few minutes. 4/5 factoring every thing all together/ including price, service, and flavors.

So once a year during November I come here for one reason and one reason only. The Hazelnut Chocolate cake, it is beyond amazing, a seasonal cake (hazelnut season) that is decadent chocolate with coffee and hazelnut that you simply cannot get enough of. We also had the London Fog (an earl grey tea cake) and a beautiful ricotta and berry olive oil cake. I love their newer place since you can actually sit to eat your cake and they also make pick up super easy (window was closed at the time but usually you can just pick up from there. Service does need to improve just because we had a pre order and for anyone to actually notice us took way too long (everything was paid we just needed the cakes to be brought to us)

I finally tried Deep Sea after hearing about it for so long. There's a small and tight parking lot immediately in the Deep Sea lot and then a roomy paid lot next to it. Inside has lots of seating and there's outside seating as well. They display their available cake in the window so you can see all the flavors there. At $11 to $11.50 per slice, Deep Sea made it worth it. There's many tiers to their slices/cakes so one slice is enough for 2-3 people. The cakes were moist with unique flavors but pretty forward on the cream cheese icing. Highly recommend stopping by especially if they have an interesting flavor. Also recommend coming early before they sell out of slices for the day. PS if you need a full cake, order well ahead. They were even unavailable 3 weeks before the event I needed it for.

When I drove up and saw how busy it was I got excited. I thought, 'wow! This place must be amazing since there's a lot of people standing in line and there was a 20-minute wait to get your cake order!' The people working when I went were friendly and pleasant with the customers. Kinda dark inside, nothing to write home about, but I didn't come here for the look of the place. I raced home to dig into the cakes because I'd heard so much about the place and the reviews looked good. I was so disappointed! Let's take the chocolate first - looks wet/dense, texture was kinda sticky, flavor wasn't all that pleasant. The buttercream was good though! The next cake had a similar texture, and flavor. The buttercream, again, was delicious, but the rose colored buttercream on top rivaled eating an actual rose petal - it was that forward in flavor - so unpleasant. Won't be returning, but will head to my own kitchen instead. Their price points don't match the flavor points, IMO.

Love trying new dessert places around Seattle! Took the bus here and it was easy to reach, even though it's far out. The cake was moist and the cream cheese frosting was amazing. One slice can be shared among multiple people, it's so big! Inside the ambiance is cozy with enough seating.

    Lemon layered cake
    Siscily E.

Local gem bake shop serving up delicious layered cakes with rotating options to try. Cake slices are available for sale. Each time I have been in the line is to the door as they do their best to get to everyone. You must pay for parking as spots onsite are very limited. 3 slices of cakes was about $37 with tip. The layered lemon goodness today was worth the cost & wait and we will definitely be back!

Our mini LOVED his chocolate cupcake.
    Katrina M.

We heard about this cake spot on IG. Everything you have heard(everything good) is true!! We had the chocolate salted caramel cake and apple spice chai cake and our mini had chocolate cupcake. The cakes were so moist and full of delicious flavor. I'm typically not a frosting person but the frosting on all of the cakes was far from better than my normal buttercream or Betty Crocker experience. This place is dessert ELEVATED!! The shop has a very cool vibe and has seating inside and outdoor. The only challenge you may have on a busy Saturday is parking. But don't worry, there are some options including a pay lot. The service was amazing! Even with a the busy weekend rush, they were all smiling and being so helpful with recommendations. Expect to pay about $11/per slice. A little pricey but I'like my baby said " it's cake heaven."

    It was $8.50.

Does anyone know why they don't answer their phones? Been trying to call to place an order for a birthday cake for a week now...

They aren't taking orders for September anymore; there's just too many.

Do they offer cake tasting for wedding cakes?

Yes, they do offer cake tasting for weddings and other occasions, S.B. They're all booked till Jan 1st of next year, nevertheless. Also, the kinds of cakes & flavors are all on their site. Or, just call them.

I went with the bestie on a Saturday noon right after eating at Kauai Family Restaurant literally right next door, and there were already people lining up for their pastries, through the line wasn't out the door though it was close. The inside gives the feel of a casual dine-in area for fast food with few tables for 2-4 people while the rest of the space is the kitchen and counter. Staff are up front taking orders and grabbing the stuff you ask for. Small slices of cakes are available, and notices around mention to call ahead of time if you want larger sizes of those same cakes. We both decided to share their rainbow cake, which is a three-layer strawberry, lime and orange along with guava, lime and passion fruit flavored layers on top. Not much to say about this other than despite all these sweet profiles coming together, no one flavor outshined another flavor, and overall cake wasn't too sweet, surprisingly. One slice for $7.45 before tax is oddly huge even for the two of us to finish though, so this cake is definitely not best eaten alone; it's too good for that anyway! My favorite layer was the guava layer for how sweet yet mild it was. I've come back before for birthday cakes, and now I can see myself also coming back casually for their other cakes! Really high recommend for anyone around the area! Just be wary of the very limited parking it shares with Kauai; it gets full during peak hours and I got really lucky finding one right in front of Kauai itself.

The shop has a relaxed island vibe, making it a pleasant stop whether you're picking up a quick slice or ordering a cake for a special occasion. I'm a big fan of their Chantilly and Bodash cakes, but the Mango and Pineapple Coconut varieties are also solid choices. What I appreciate most is that their cakes are never overly sweet. They consistently taste fresh, with great texture and a light, balanced flavor that keeps me coming back. Most of the time I buy slices individually, but I recently ordered a whole 6-inch Chantilly cake for a birthday. At around $44, I'd consider the pricing mid-range--not cheap, but fair for the quality and freshness. The staff has always been helpful whenever I've visited, though they're a bit more efficient than warm and chatty. Still, the service gets the job done, and the cakes are really the star of the show. If you're looking for consistently fresh cakes with Hawaiian-inspired flavors and a lighter sweetness level, Cakes of Paradise is definitely worth a visit

Only difference is the filling also has like an egg yolk mixture, mixed with the meats. Very tasty, not too much different from da local style Chinese manapua. We also picked up some rolls, chocolate glazed donuts, and a (custard) Leche Flan. Service here was on point, as the single clerk managing the ordering counter was friendly and efficient. There was quite a bit of foot traffic in this bakery, so it was nice to see a small neighborhood bakery doing well.
