I love the food here! The outdoor back patio is lovely and covered, and they even have heaters and blankets for those extra cold mornings! I had the monte cristo savory crepe recently and it was DELICIOUS. I also highly recommend the ever changing coffee cake, it is so so good! Get that and a POG mimosa! On the weekends they have a rotating hashbrown casserole that is a must if you are there! (Get there early because it sells out fast!) Too many good things about this place to list. Definitely worth going here for breakfast. The food, beverages, and especially the service are amazing and just wonderful. We read the reviews and knew that we'd be in for a long wait but decided to come by anyway and ask. It was about 11pm on a saturday and we were told that the wait for food would be 45 minutes. I think there were less than 15 tables so it seemed strange that it would take that long but decided to try it anyway. The setting for this cafe is pretty nice so we were anticipating an equally good experience with service and food. The food took 1 hour and 20 minutes from when we places our order to when it arrived.. the server was very nice and offered free drinks but at that point we wanted to just have our meal and leave. It was even more disappointing when we tasted the food and found it mediocre. The crepe we ordered was undercooked on the inside. We probably could have gone grocery shopping and whipped this up for less time and money. The prices are pretty high considering that they're serving breakfast food. We were seated on the back patio. There appeared to be only one server, but she was very attentive and came by often to check on us. We both ordered the 2-egg breakfast - scrambled eggs, bacon, and sourdough toast. Food arrived rather quickly and was seasoned well. Both the butter and jam were prepackaged - we didn't try any of it. It was a quick and filling meal. Wait was insanely long for our food, but everything was worth it in the end. I got here with a friend on a Saturday around 1:20pm to a full house and got seated around 2pm, somewhat close to their listed closing time at 2:30pm. This place is essentially a small house with both indoor and outdoor seating. Outdoor seating - which my friend and I got seats in - has heaters outside and blankets are provided when asked. They have a nice selection of stuff to get, but we eyed the savory crepes and one of the special desserts they had. Things got interesting here. We ordered at 2:15pm but actually got our dessert - the coffee cafe - at 2:30pm, and then our main entrees - both a Hangar savory crepe - at 2:45pm, well past their closing time. There wasn't much follow-through as to why our food was taking so long, though I did notice other patrons were having the same issue. This somehow didn't affect my experience too much since I had great company and the outdoor decor felt really nice to be around. As mentioned before, we actually got our dessert first before the entree as our server noticed our food hadn't come out in so long. Our coffee cake was hot and piping, and came with a thick layer of coffee flavoring, whipped cream and some syrup on top. It was so sweet and fluffy, and the coffee flavor was a nice texture difference while also having the same tart taste as regular coffee. Presentation was also very cool and I felt bad cutting into it. The Hangar savory crepe was definitely the winner of the whole meal, and for good reason! It has black forest ham, two scrambled eggs, cheddar and some tomatoes, all topped with their vinaigrette and creme fraiche. The plate also came with a side of sliced fruit as well, and this made for a delicious brunch. The crepe was a little crunchy on the outside, the ham was quite smoky, and everything fit very well together. We arrived on a chili day. We were told the heaters weren't working so indoor seating was going to be a longer wait. Most people were eating outside., The owner offered us referrals for other places if we didn't want to wait. Very friendly and not pushy. I think it was an unusually busy day for the restaurant. The outside seating is cozy and has mini lights, swing fenced in trellis decor and umbrella tables. Free coffee cake was offered as a consolation for a longer wait time for our food. I had to stop myself from eating it so I would have room. Melt in your mouth goodness a reason to go just for that. Crepes were filled with fresh and flavor ingredients. Served with potatoes cooked well and obviously fresh. The hot sauce choices for this place made me think they might be in the hot sauce business too. So fun. Some outdoor seating but it was too cold on a February morning. Did see some couples who came with blankets (they were probably regular goers and knew what to expect). I waited outside on the front porch and the kind worker asked if I wanted a cup of coffee as I waited. That definitely helped keep me warm. Unfortunately, the wait for the food to come out was almost equally long. Think I saw only two people in the kitchen. Food was SO GOOD, although quite pricey. Cute and cozy cafe. We had to park in a paid lot nearby. The street parking was all filled up. We went around 10 on Saturday morning. Offered between indoor and outdoor - outdoor has blankets and patio heaters if it's cool so if this is something you select, don't forget your jacket. We walked to a coffee shop nearby and waited the 10-15 min that we were informed of. When we returned, there were maybe five groups outside of the place. Service - from waitstaff was really good, but if you're on a time crunch, the food took long which is why I'm giving this a 3/5. I loved the special coffee cake. You could taste the lemon, it was warm and steaming and the streusel was delicious. I ordered the frittata with a side salad. The frittata was perfect for what I wanted. Savory. A good portion of food, and the delicate crepe and cilantro lime crema complimented the chorizo nicely. The Nutella crepe was a crowd favorite too. Servers are super sweet. Others have complained about the prices, but they truly reflect the quality of the food. The bacon, for example, is clearly not Oscar Meyer. It was mouth-watering. I was excited to try this place because the ambiance in the review pictures looked very cozy and welcoming (which it was!) no problem there, the waitress was very kind and helpful. There seemed to be only crepes on the menu which I got some as a starter but was also hoping for something more filling and not just sugar so I ordered their Eggs, sausage, and potatoes. Everything was bland.. no flavor no nothing. My sourdough bread wasn't even toasted, it looked like they just took it out the bag and threw it on the plate. I could have EASY made that "breakfast" myself at home for much cheaper and better. My friend got the Frittata and had to smother it with hot sauce to get some flavor. Loved this little spot and had it bookmarked for awhile, came on a Thursday morning and wasn't busy at all. I love the ambience, the back patio was slightly covered and had beautiful plants all around as you can see the planes flying above. It was a lil chilly but not too bad. I had gotten the mimosa flight which was yummy, I think the mango and guava was my favorite. The food was AMAZING!! The blackberries & cream waffles were perfectly portioned and had the perfect balance of berries with a cream on the side to add. Wow, I truly love this spot! I went in for a late breakfast on an unseasonably sunny winter Friday and was immediately impressed. The menu is fantastic, featuring sweet and savory crepes, waffles, burritos, coffee cake, and more. The atmosphere is just as wonderful, with plant-covered front and back patios and a cozy indoor space. I'm vegetarian, and the super kind staff pointed out that they offer plant-based sausage and ham, which I really appreciated. I ordered the Italian crepe with plant-based sausage and, at their suggestion, added Mama Lil's peppers. It was so stinkin' good -the fresh veggies were delicious, and the drizzles of crème fraiche and pesto really took it over the top. I'm also a mimosa enthusiast and was super impressed by the juice pairing selection. My only regret is that I wasn't more hungry, because I'm very excited to try more of the sweet offerings. There was a big group of almost 10 people who came in but it didn't seem like there was enough staff and to accommodate them so after talking to a staff member, they left. We ordered savory crepes -- one with ham, cheese, eggs and veggies and the other with bacon, eggs, cheese and veggies. The one with ham, however, was not as crispy as the one with bacon. The crepe instead felt like it could have been cooked more. The bacon one was crispier on the outside and inside. The breakfast potatoes were pretty good, but a bit bland. The salad was very simple -- a side of spinach with a bit of dressing on the side. If you don't like sauce, you should probably ask for the sauce on the side since the crepes also had a lot of sauce on it. Beyond disappointed with the customer service. Would give 0 stars if I could. Walk in the door and was blown off/ rudely told to stand outside by the guy at the front when we had been looking for the rest of our party who was already seated. After I confirmed via text that they were already there I went back inside and looked for them myself and sat down with my mom (I understand it was busy and people can become flustered). Then the waitress with the glasses eventually comes and takes our order and it's okay up until I'm about to hand the menus over and my mom is saying what she wants to order and I wanted to confirm that the waitress had the correct item for my mom and she says in an incredibly rude tone "yes that's what I just said" I mean I'm just a daughter that is trying to make sure her elderly mom gets the food she was really looking forward to (since we heard such wonderful things about this place through someone who goes there regularly). It gets worse. We were told there is a long wait and we are all very nice easy going people so this is no problem. We wait and wait and the time that was estimated had long gone by, 4 other tables had been seated at this point and 2 of them had been served their food (they came way after us) so the same waitress comes by and says that our ticket had been misplaced so ours will be the next one out. More and more time goes by and the other 2 tables get their food and she eventually brings us our food. Now it's going to look and feel bad when we're the only certain looking people sitting outside and all of this happens over such a long period of time. The waitress comes back and says we'll get 20% off the bill and something along the lines of it's a hectic kitchen so the ticket with our order got lost. I was adamant about leaving no tip so I made sure no one did because this was nuts. It gets even crazier because my elderly mom goes back there today! The same guy sat her down and that was nice this time which is great in my book. Then the same waitress goes to say that she'll take my mom and her friends order and that she'll be helping them today so my mom places an order for a regular coffee (my mom is a saint, she is incredibly nice) and then the lady takes down her order and says she'll be back with it. She never comes back and leaves them sitting there while helping other people, brings other people their drinks, their food, and everything while my mom sits there not being helped at all. The guy eventually comes and says sorry about the wait and takes their order and she said he looked a little worried helping them (again my mom is so nice) so she orders her plain coffee again and the food and all of that with this guy. I'm glad that the guy eventually was able to help but the ladys behavior is beyond unprofessional and incredibly distasteful. The first time we went we were a group of 4 ladies and we are all very nice people, I just get a little bothered when those kinds of things happen but I'm never not nice. My mom asked me to not write this review and I usually don't but this is so unacceptable for this waitress to behave like this but especially to this elderly lady (yes my mom) who is nothing but nice to everyone and even left a tip after todays experience. I loved everything about my brunch at The Hangar Cafe. The menu is diverse but small enough to make me think they're good at making the things they offer, the waiting area is adorable, staff is so pleasant and obviously happy to be at work which speaks volumes about the establishment. Even with new ownership, my Southend friend told me she's still very pleased with service and food. I had a side of bacon (I asked for it to be crispy and it was PERFECT), lemon panna cotta waffle, turkey pesto crepe. My brunch date had the Monte Cristo crepe, and enjoyed that as well. The wait to be seated was normal for Sunday brunch, but there's also a wait to get your food order taken. This is understandable given the economy, but definitely plan ahead. Each one of us drank four cups of coffee just as something to do while we waited. The place was 2/3 empty when we arrived, so I cannot for the life of me figure out what took so long to make four crepe entrees. A crepe takes, what five minutes? Did the chef call out sick or something?! The staff seemed like this was normal. Food was decent, although I'd have eaten just about anything at that point, so who knows. Portions were so-so.
