I go here quite a bit. My two favorites are the eggplant parmesan sandwich is my top pick and the chicken parmesan sandwich. I went yesterday to try their lunch buffet which on Thursdays is a Polish style buffet with fried chicken oh, sweet and sour cabbage, kluski noodles, Polish sausage, pizza, mac and cheese, mostaccioli or baked ziti. Include salad bar. The chicken on the polish buffet was very crispy. Everything was good. read more

I've been here before and the food was amazing. But tonight was a train wreck. Our waitress was wonderful but the kitchen was off. Not their fault they sucked. I went here for dinner awhile ago and I will not be back. Not only was the service slow but the food was absolutely not good. Some friends ordered pizza and that was okay but I ordered the pasta carbonara and while I am aware that eggs primarily make up carbonara sauce, they are not supposed to be scrambled. I might as well have ordered scrambled eggs and bacon with a side of pasta. I really like to support local businesses and it makes me sad when i try one and it is not good. Our waitress brought us menus and took our drink order. We opted for the Chicken Parmesan and egg plant Parmesan. We started with a salad which our waitress brought before the entrees. It's a decent basic salad, nothing fancy. The food arrived and was very hot It was a large portion of pasta. Ordered a large thin crust pizza after a long day driving into South Bend. Great flavor and a huge large pizza. For thin crust, the crust could have been thinner but the flavor and fresh ingredients more than made up for the crust not being as thin as I prefer. We will go back! read more

We've been here twice after visiting the nearby pumpkin farm. And i'm sure we'll return yearly, make it part of our tradition. It's a nice, clean, relaxed, super casual family place with good food. Prices aren't bad (I know some on here said it's overpriced, but I'm from Chicago, so by my standards it's not bad). Everything we've ordered was good (for the record there are 7 Italians at our table). The employees are friendly. Service can be slow if it's busy, so don't go in expecting fast during busy times! This Macri's resturant is NOT related to Villa Macri or Carmelas or Macri's bakery. But this Macri's - located across from Lowes- on the south side has the best lasagna in town. It has more meat, cheese and flavor than any other restaurant in town. As a meal, it comes with soup or salad, and the Italian wedding soup is home made. It also comes with garlic sticks that are yummy. I have also had their pizza- as good as Roccos but without the wait. Also, for those snapple fans- they serve diet raspberry and peach iced tea snapple!!!! Only resturant in town that has it. read more

We stopped in there on a whim, and glad we did. We stopped in at the start of the Super Bowl, We wanted to watch it, and have some good food. It was great because the TV wasn't too loud, so we could watch that, talk about the game, and eat some good Italian food. My date had the special, Mama Macri's stuffed shells and I had the lasagna. I was in town visiting family and they wanted to go to Macri's for dinner. I'd like to say my first experience was great.... but that wasn't totally the case. We got there around 5 pm and they weren't packed which was our preference. That being said, it was surprising to me that it took about 20-25 minutes to get our food once we ordered. With that in mind, when my order was delivered incorrectly (I ordered cheese ravioli and got meat ravioli), I let our server know. Our server was very kind and apologized for the order being wrong and offered to put in a new order for me. I declined this because it had already taken so long to get this current order and I didn't want the rest of our party (5 others) to have to wait another 20-25 minutes for me to get the correct order. Our server came back to the table a few minutes later and said she knew what happened.. the table behind us had ordered meat ravioli.. and they got cheese ravioli. I know mistakes can happen, however, no effort was made to take anything off the bill, or offer anything to further make it right. Not that I was "owed" anything but it would have been a nice gesture. At any rate, that's just my two cents and my experience as a first time customer. Today is Mother's Day and my first time here. A Italian restaurant that looks good on the inside. When we came in. It was (you know.) busy! The sign said "Please Seat Yourself." So we sat down at a table... Well they don't have any fancy tables (but clean). And what happen was... Nothing. We were like ghosts . The table behind us came in and got served. Instantly. We were waiting for 10 minutes. Then the waiter came (FINALLY!). And we ordered our drinks. The drinks came about 4 minutes. Then the table behind us got their food! (What!!! That's 6 people that they served.) really slow! REALLY SLOW! This place is EXPENSIVE! it's basically for rich people!We asked how much the buffet was. It was 18 dollars! What? Honestly, I come here because the waitresses, especially the feisty older lady, are the best -- attentive even when they're rushed off their feet. The food ranges from pretty good to mediocre. Prices tend to be a bit high, but not unreasonably so. Restaurant is always very clean, with large clean restrooms as well. Be sure to tip your waitress well at this place -- they deserve every penny of it! read more

I have liked the food at the Niles Ave location, but this one- not so much. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The chef salad was difficult to eat- it was a plate of lettuce with large thick ham slices. The antipasto salad was good and their house Italian dressing was great- we ordered bruschetta - and it was not good- cold French bread slices topped with cold diced tomatoes that tasted like they came from a can - and cold shredded mozzarella cheese sprinkled on top- all cold- cheese not melted- just not good - but the Sangria was delightful. read more

Ordered a pizza to go a couple of weeks ago. The veggies were fresh, but they were very stingy with the cheese and the pizza was very bland. It was almost as if they forgot a seasoning in the sauce or crust. I had to cover it with salt and garlic powder just to enjoy it. I probably won't ever order a pizza from Macri's again, Bruno's just a few minutes away has much, much better pizza. I would consider dining in and ordering something different though. read more

10 years ago I was on the verge of homelessness. The only source of food I had was from the local food pantry. Unfortunately the food was often expired and I would often become sick. I never thought I would have such an unpleasant experience while eating. That time of my life will forever be a distant second to the 30 minutes I spent at Macri's Italian Kitchen. Typically it's a great experience. However tonight it was the opposite. If you dont make reservations on fridays...plan to wait. This is my second visit to this restaurant. The first was great. This time however the messed up my order twice. My husband is allergic to pork so I asked for only 4 slices of pizza with sausage and bacon and the rest with ground beef. When they brought it to the table it had no ground beef at all and the pork was one several pieces. They re made it with the ground beef but all the pieces had pork on them. At this point my husband told me to just eat it. The knife they gave me had hard dried up food on it and when my husband asked for a water refill, 3 times, he never got it. I asked for a box for the pizza 4 times before the waitress brought it. I will never eat there again. read more
