Didn't eat it for safety concerns. The odor of roach feces was present inside the entrance and worse in the men's room!Waitress was good, thus the single star. Too bad this place seems so unconcerned and confused. The good people of Brady deserve a better effort from the pit boss, kitchen and front of the house. Mac's, you can do better. I asked for moist brisket (I like some marbling!!) and got 3 super juicy slices of deliciousness. The sauce is tangy-spicy and compliments the meat nicely. I decided on the Taco Tuesday lunch special with a side of fried okra. Three tacos appeared and underneath all those toppings was a pile of brisket in one and a pile of pulled pork in the other two. Dang. You had one job--barbecue. I got one bony undercooked rib with mostly (undercooked, chewy) fat, and one anemic thin dry slice of brisket. BBQ is a very personal thing. I like meat cut from the "point" or marbled part of the brisket, which is what I asked for. What I got was basically "Burnt Ends" which typically come from the point. They weren't bad, just not really my cup of tea, I didn't complain or say anything, hence the four star rating. It wasn't the best BBQ I've had, but it wasn't bad. Was served by one of the best waitresses I've seen in a long time. She was hustling and handled the entire place herself! And she did very well. Really great mesquite smoked BBQ. I want to try the steak special on a Friday or Saturday. Also want to try the tacos one day. This time I got the 2 meat plate as last time the 3 meat was too much food. Turkey and ribs are delicious. I liked the cole slaw because it didn't have too much Mayo. Last time I tried the delicious Mac n cheese and the jalapeño cheese sausage. Both were great. Lot of cheese in the sausage. As we now regularly commute between Austin and San Angelo, we're taking our time to stop and smell the smoke. Mac's is our second stop and first in Brady. It's BBQ. It's not bad BBQ, but it's not great BBQ either. The lack of a smoke ring on any of the meats makes me a little suspicious... Brisket was a little bland and a little dry. Pork ribs were pretty good. Tender and flavorful. Sauce was too sweet. Jalapeño cheese sausage was more jalapeño and cheese than sausage. Sides were unremarkable. Don't really even remember what sides we had. Beer was cold and service was great, but we'll keep looking for another meat stop on this trek. read more

Service is amazing. Our server went above and beyond for us. The food is mediocre though. That could be bias considering we're from the Austin area and have had some of the best bbq statewide. The brisket is okay but lacking some Smokey flavor. The jalapeño cheddar sausage wasn't that great to me but my boyfriend said he liked it a lot. The bbq sauce was very watery but did have a good flavor to it. The beans were really good and the sampler (fried pickles, fried jalapeños, and onion rings) were bomb with the ranch. The potato salad we sampled because she said it was made with Catalina dressing rather mayo and mustard. It had an orange color to it but I definitely wasn't that bad. The Cole slaw was to chopped for my liking but still had a good taste to it. The fries were not that great. They were overly greased with no salt. VERY GOOD BBQ -- we will definitely recommend this to our friends who pass through Brady. We had the 2 meat plate with pork ribs and sliced brisket. The Pork ribs had a lovely crust from the dry rub, and were delicious, suffused with rendered fat, making them tender and succulent. Brisket showed off a nice smoke ring, and was very lean without being dry. We had a side of green Chilean and cheese that was obviously house made. We are going to try and replicate the recipe.
