We started with a 1/2 order of onion rings. Yes, my pic shows a 1/2 order! Totally crispy & delicious! I ordered the daily special (fried fish) & my husband had hamburger steak. The fish, hush puppies, & okra were perfectly fried. The Cole slaw was creamy & definitely homemade. My hubby loved his hamburger steak, gravy, & grilled veggies. Everything was cooked just right & tasted homemade. My lunch ended with a cupcake. Gotta love that! Lots of locals were eating lunch here. That's always a good sign. Super cute "farm" decor.

Sounds like small town Texas doesn't it? It's rare that I take the car club into an unexplored restaurant. But, there was confidence. Yelp profile? Not so much; but a recent feature on a Texas centric TV show called the Daytripper. Enough for me to take a chance on Jacoby's. Said family also has an east Austin eatery but I don't dine after five. High time I lead some cars out to Melvin, Texas. Left Bee Cave and took every curvy road I could because sports cars. Took longer to arrive than taking straight roads but we're now sitting down in the cafe. Uhhh, where are the steaks from your own private heard? Dinner menus delivered to the table. You can't stop staring at the desserts at the end of the bar. Onion rings were amazing. Don't think artful or presentation here folks; think squirt bottle of ranch. Still need more but saving for the main course. Steak was delivered and the GF cut off her personal hunk. First thoughts is to compare the dining adventure with Hilltop Cafe and Johnny Nicholas at Hilltop Cafe. If you build it they will come. I think the term "home made" is used WAY too much these days. Jacoby's nails this category. Simply prepared great steak, veggies, salad, and desserts. Staffers even protected the desserts with wrap in between servings. It was good to walk in and dine; locals dressed to a "T" because this is a special occasion restaurant for them. I bought a hat. First time in forever I'm wearing supporting carb. Great place!

Update! The last takeout meal we ordered was the best yet. I had a Caesar salad that was…read moreamazing--not traditional, exactly, but delicious. Cold iceberg lettuce, plenty of dressing (no dinky cups needed) with great little croutons. Made in house? It was that delicious, and grated cheese on top (either Gouda or Mozzarella, but definitely mild and delicious. I'm hungry all over again. I ordered a combo with Canneloni, Ziti and Manicotti, cheesy and delicious as all their food. The best thing was the rolls (complimentary) which were better than ever. Soft and yeasty, buttered and beautifully dusty with Parmesan and garlic. I'm now officially starving! I'm sure we got tiramisu. It's terrific. I've never had a bad meal there, but this was exceptional. These folks are wonderful--and we've seen their kids grow up here. Practically the most wonderful thing of all was the absolutely professional, polished, and polite voice taking our phone order...the little girl who grew up into a polished and terrific young woman. Bravo!

We tried the stuffed mushrooms and had a pizza as appetizers. All entrees come with a salad and bread. I ordered the shrimp fettuccine and it was so creamy. Not dry or oily. I loved it. It's a good size portions.

We had stopped going to this location due to the steep decline in food quality and at time customer…read moreservice. When we learned there were new owners we had high hopes that this location would be able to have a good turnaround. We gave it 3 tries under the new ownership/management. All 3 of these visits/orders were placed in the drive through. First time back was 3 weeks or so after they reopened. My steak fingers weren't cooked all the way, cold and soggy in the middle, even the fries were nasty. When my husband tried it he agreed it was bad....and my husband will eat just about anything, so if he won't eat it you know it's bad. Husband's burger was not at all what he ordered. After throwing my meal in the trash and husband's fries in the trash, I said I would not eat there again. However husband gave them 2 more chances. The 2nd time. Ordered his meal came home and again wasn't the meal he ordered. Ordered double meat. Got single patty. Ordered cheese- no cheese on burger. Ordered mayo instead of mustard, you guessed it burger had mustard. He wasn't ordering anything out of the ordinary. He gave them the benefit of the doubt and said maybe they just gave me someone else's order. He went a 3rd time same thing burger wasn't what he ordered. Again ordered (and paid for) double meat. Burger was single patty. Ordered mayo burger had mustard. You get the picture. Fries were so salty you couldn't eat them (I love salty fries and I tried one and it was nothing but salt) He tried calling over and over and over. Letting it ring for several minutes each time. No one ever answered. At that time he said he would never go back. We truly want businesses in Brady to succeed! We need businesses in Brady to thrive. But the owners have to want that too. They have to train their employees in the way they want their business run. Re-training if necessary. A smile, good attitude, and accuracy in an order goes a long way. I can overlook the little things but when they happen on what seems to be a regular basis I can't help but think something is wrong at the owner level. I'm sad this is another fast food/restaurant in town that I can't support financially but I won't continue to throw my hard earned money away.

No one answers the phone. The app is awful, like the food. So disorganized!!! I'm done with DQ here.read more
