When we were visiting family in Geneva I insisted we go to Mac's because it is an experience. But what surprised me was how great the food was!!! (has it always been this great and I just forgot??). Specifically, the chicken is amazing. My husband and I had chicken sandwiches, my dad the chicken dinner, and my daughter had the chicken tenders -- all were truly great. The food is not good. Taste a lot like high school cafeteria food. Quite dirty and just overall a poor experience.

I had lunch with my son here today. I was discussed watching them prepare the food. The older man who prepared the food pulled a plastic glove from his shirt pocket to place the burger on the bun, however he held the spatula, after spotting away flys, with the gloved hand and opened the bun (which was taken from inside of a warmer and still inside the plastic bag - the bun was stuck to the plastic) with other un-gloved hand. Then folded and put the glove back in his shirt pocket after wiping it clean on the back of his pants. Then he continued on to make a pizza with no gloves and placing the pizza on the counter, which also had flys and some other insect I've never seen. To wind things up, they only take cash and the nearest ATM is over 2 miles away. The sign the says "Cash Only" was covered up by cans of grease and empty bags. I've driven by this place many times, which lead me to think it must be good food. However, after talking to some of the locals through out the rest of the day they ALL clarified the the food is shit and cleanliness is unspeakable. We stop in for supper, we sat at the counter and was greeted by Scott about 1min sitting. We ordered two drinks and a large pizza with an order of small fries. The place was busy but not slamed. Scott brought us our drinks and returned 10 min later with our pizza and fries. The food was awesome and the same for the root beer floats. Scott check on us 5min into our meal to make sure everything was good. We left there with full stomachs and a big smile on our faces! Scott made our experience a great one. Stopped here for lunch on a lovely Saturday late August. The place was packed, almost every table was taken. We sat down at the counter and watched the show. Every worker in the place was on the move. We only waited a few minutes before someone took our order. Seconds later a second person stopped to make sure we were taken care of. At least two other workers just passed by and acknowledge our presence. They work together like a well oiled machine. The double cheeseburger was flat top fried and delicious. This place is amazing! I ordered a fish basket, which was a fish sandwich with fries, and cabbage salad (coleslaw). I also ordered a root beer which came in a frosted mug. The root beer is enough to go there on its own. The fries are hand cut and just super good. The fish was crispy and has a nice flavor, and the bun was a standard hamburger bun. I am sad that I will be moving out of the area in a few weeks so I might not get to go back here. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone! The menu is simple (burgers, hot dogs, fried chicken, floats, and an array of sides), but it seems like there is something for everyone here. They even have pizza! We stopped at Mac's in search of some ice cream to ease the disappointment of a crummy dinner at a local lakeside restaurant. Our brief experience at Mac's turned our frowns upside-down, for sure! The young man working the counter was pleasant and friendly and the sundaes we ordered (Mexican & Butterscotch) totally hit the spot for us. The place was crawling with employees, but all were working on various tasks and never just sitting around socializing or staring at their phones. Prices are totally reasonable from what we spent on our sundaes to what we saw on the menu board. We both agreed to make it back to Mac's for an actual meal before we leave the area!! Stopped at Mac's with my grandchildren to have lunch, sat down at a table and watched 2 parties arrive after us get drinks, their orders taken and the orders served and we were ignored. Wow what a rip off. Four guys behind the counter , five of them did not know which was where. ( yes, I said five as four of the, stumbled over each other.) I ordered a cheeseburger and onion rings. I heard the oldest quietly say to the younger, he is not a regular. I saw the quarter pounder.. Go to a basket. I got ? An eighth pounder with freezer burnt then over fried onion rings. Found this place going to the outlets in Waterloo NY. What an experience for my family felt like we were transported into the 50s. It's a real drive in where you put the trays on the windows. We opted to eat at the counter where we were warmly greater. Prices are so low I thought it was a mistake. First off we got a root beer float. Best I've ever had. In a frosted mug no less. From there I ordered the fried chicken plate. I got 1/2 a chicken. fresh cut french fries and cole slaw and 2 honey buns for 6.oo and boy was it good. My son ordered a fried fish basket that had a nice peace of Haddock for 5.00. If you're in the FInger Lakes area it's a must try. Cash only. read more
