Came on a Friday evening and it seemed as if all of Newark were dining here. Despite the bustling atmosphere, our food came out in a timely manner and there was plenty of seating to choose from. The dining room is huge and has the classic retro checkered floor look. Very fun and nostalgic. We enjoyed all of the food we ordered. The chicken fingers were perfect and crispy, Tasty onion rings that didn't fall apart when you bite into it, and the garbage plate portion size was huge which worked for my hungry husband. One of the mangers, Malea, is extremely rude to staff and customers. She made a comment towards my 16 year old friend saying that my friend deserves to get beat by a man. I think it's genuinely so disrespectful how she treats people and situations she had no context to. Even the staff complain she is rude and a bad manager. We stopped in after our big dinner for a sweet treat on our Road Trip. I had the medium sized hard scooped ice cream and my husband had a Root Beer Shake. We loved them both. Great flavors. I'd never heard of this place, but we were out picking up some stuff we bought online and it looked so cute we had to stop for lunch. It wasn't very busy at noon. It only took a few quick minutes for our food. The hubby and I both had the bacon cheeseburger my daughter had chicken tenders. One bite and she said she lived them, not a fan of the BBQ sauce. Great Classic American Burger! I worked here for four years in high school and ate wayyyy too much of their food, thank goodness for a teenage metabolism and sports, otherwise I'd probably weigh an extra hundred pounds. So good and now I stop by whenever I'm back in town. I've made almost every food they serve and know what everything is made out of. I've also tried everything there and it's a safe and good place to eat. Their cheeseburgers are classics, they use a glass pie pan to flatten them to cook faster and keep them tasty. Use the buy one, get one free coupons that are on their website or usually in the weekly area papers. I was surprised to see they have a barcode scanner and looked up a coupon online, and they scanned it for half off. Their Friday fish fries are the best in town also. Highly recommend and they give you huge portions. A little secret, they also have gravy for the fries if you're into that and I'd recommend it with cheese fries if you can afford the extra calories. I always liked Tom Wahls - it's got an American Graffiti vibe. The booths look like something outta the 50's, and they pipe in 50's and 60's hits to listen to while you're dining. Homemade root beer (you can get it in an iced mug), pickles, and hot sauce, great food. I used to think they were sort of expensive, until I ate at a Five Guys. Now I realize they're a relative bargain, not too much more than Mickey D's. They have coupons on their website, too. read more

Toms wahls is a rochester staple and Newark is lucky to have one. Service is usually good even when it's very busy. The burgers are always great and their hot sauce is the best out of all the Rochester hot sauces I've tasted. It's meaty and has the right amount of heat. You have to go here. read more

This is a decent burger place. It's a little pricey for what the quality of food seems to be. I was asked if I wanted the meal combo and I said I would try it. I didn't realize all the items were separately priced for a combo meal. A simple burger, fries and drink cost me almost 13 with tax included. The burger was really flat and a bit greasy. They have lots of options, including burgers, fish fries, chicken, lots of sides, and drinks. I would definitely try their milkshakes, as they are very thick and mostly ice cream. Love it! I have gone numerous times on lunch breaks and will continue to do so. The staff is friendly, customer service oriented, and quick (for serving fresh food). The location is pretty clean - I see staff going out to clean tables and there aren't usually spills and such left sitting there. And I love the food. The fish fry tastes fresh and flakes nicely, and the burger (though greasy) is so flavorful. It's pricier, but filling and well worth it. They also have a deal sometimes, like once a week, there's a $6 garbage plate. I have never had a problem with my order or the service. read more
