We came here for lunch one Sunday afternoon after realizing it was getting too late for breakfast or brunch. It was relatively empty for an afternoon so we sat at the bar and ordered. I got a chicken club sandwich with fries instead of chips and he ordered a california burger with old bay seasoning fries. Definitely get the old bay seasoning fries, they blew my fries out of the water. My chicken was a little dry and was mostly bread but i put everything into half a sandwich and it was satisfying enough. I kind of like how they don't put any dressings or condiments on the sandwiches and burgers, so you can do it yourself how you like it. All in all a decent meal, but nothing spectacular. read more

We've come here 2 times prior and the food has always been good, not great, but good. Typical bar food. Tonight I was craving a burger and figure where better to get one than a pub. For app we ordered tuna bites rare. They were served on a bed of greens w lemon wedges and RANCH? wtf? One bite, I felt like I was chewing on rotting fish. Fishy taste was an understatement, I sent it back. I asked the waitress if the burgers were good. She was super sweet and said they're awesome and she prefers this one burger (I forget what it's called) w bacon, horseradish cheddar and grilled tomato. I looked at it on the menu and it said "1/2 pound burger", I was very excited bc I was hungry, I ordered this bad boy cooked medium with old bay fries. It came out on a hard roll, I kid you not, the meat was less than a McDonald's 1/4 pounder, on this HUGE hard roll the meat was barely visible. The tomatoes were not grilled, the cheddar was not horseradish, the fries did not have old bay and when I bit into the meat it was grey, not a spec of pink as a normal medium would be cooked. I had to take half the bun off in order to taste the meat. Waitress walked over and asked how were things. She noticed my grey meat and said "I'm not sure what's going on tonight!", she did not offer anything to make it a better experience. Overall service was good, waitress was sweet and seemed fed up. We would've been better off at Wendys. Beer was good ! read more

If I had the option this would be a 3.5 star rating. First off I like the place, the layout, atmosphere, the service, and the food I had. Next time I come I hope to increase the "starage." Three of us were able, just barely, to get a seat at the bar on a Friday evening. There was a good crowd so I expect the staff is normally friendlier on a less busy night than they were this Friday. That notwithstanding, the service was good. I noticed that they carry craft beers with some NJ and local brews. That's good. My only advice to the owners of McIntyres is if you are going to serve craft beers, they require more attention than the traditional generic lager beers. For instance ipas do not have a long shelf life. My wife ordered a Heavy Seas Double Cannon. This is an excellent ale with an upfront hop profile. No hop aroma at all; clearly old and past it's use by date. Management needs to go around and taste their beer everyday to determine it's quality, not to keep serving it until it kicks. By the way I had a domestic Belgian style beer that was good. They keep longer than ipas. Ok, enough ranting. I ordered the personal 10" meatball pizza. One of the best I've had at a bar. I highly recommend their pizza and I'll will no doubt order it upon my return. read more

Have been wanting to check this place out for awhile; glad we finally did. Three of us decided to stop for food on a Friday night. I assumed the place would be mobbed but to my pleasant surprise it was not & we scored 3 seats at the bar. They have a few craft beers on tap, which we loved. I ordered a blue cheese burger for dinner. It came with fries & a pickle. The burger was cooked medium rare as I had asked, but the blue cheese was runnier than I would have liked with very little blue cheese chunks in it. Despite that I did enjoy it. I liked the overall vibe of the bar & the face that we could go on a Friday night & not be elbow to elbow. The food is probably more a 3.5 but I'm giving it a 4 before I liked the vide, & the beer. The other reviewers wrote that McIntyre's moved from its long-standing location next to Kmart all the way up to Silverton, and it doesn't seem to live that move down. It's been up there a while, and I haven't made it there until yesterday. The reason is because it was much closer to my house when it was next to Kmart, and the bar itself is not something really worth traveling farther to, especially if you have had a few drinks. Say what you want about how it's not the glitiziest bar around, but it definitely offers something to the Average Joe. I disagree strongly with anyone who says that it is a "Dive Bar" because it is now located in a semi-upscale strip mall, and the bar area is very clean. If you look down at the bottles and glasses, they are arranged perfectly. Upon my visit I was also pleasantly surprised that they now have a few premium craft beers available, which they did not have before a few years ago when they were located by Kmart. They even had three different beers from the Cape May Brewery, Icarus from Lakewood, and Longtrail from Vermont. I also found the prices to very reasonable for the premium beers. $6 is not bad, where some more upscale restaurants charge $8 or even $9. The burger could use some improvement. I do not think that the patty was a premium quality. I am not sure, but it had a previously frozen taste to it. For a modest bar, the staff could have been a little friendlier, too. Although it may be true that they did their job, I found the two bartenders detached and slightly abrasive. I considered leaving them just 3 stars, but the fact that they now have better craft beer made me raise the rating. read more

Food is awesome since new ownership. The staff is also great. Was there last night, 1/5 with a date and the band was not only so-so but it was so loud you couldn't even hold a conversation and we were on the back wall. Everyone was complaining they couldn't even talk to each other. I love the place and I'll continue to go there but not when there's live music unless something changes. read more

First time here for my birthday, & they let us bring our own cake, & carry on like we were home. True Irish hospitality. Bonus! For an Irish Pub style, it's decent. They have tables as well as seats at the bar, & the decor is warm enough to feel comfortable, & also a good place for a date, I would think. We also had a couple wee ones with us, & they were accomodating for their menu. The menu is a good mix of traditional Irish dishes, as well as standard restaurant favorites, such as; Fish & Chips, NY Steak, Shephard's Pie, & a variety of burgers, just to name a few. If you're looking for a great appetizer, try the Irish Egg Rolls. They're an American-Irish twist on the classic egg roll, & they'll have your taste buds dancin' a jig. The service was really good, which turned out to be a busy Saturday Night crowd. Our server was attentive, but didn't hover, or forget about us. Our meals were all delivered around the same time, which for 6 of us, was pretty good. No one had to watch anyone eat while waiting. The drinks menu is good as far as beer & spirits, plenty of whiskey & other liquors, & they even had a selection from a local Irish brewery on tap. Rinn Duin from Toms River, if you're curious. Most important, the Guinness was poured & served properly in a clean Guinness glass. The atmosphere is casual, just like an Irish pub, & they also have a few tv's for sports, but they're not all over & in your face. Probably a good place to have a few pints & watch the game. Their pub menu will keep you well fed between rounds, I would think. As far as prices, it's mid-range, but you're not breaking the bank for a night out. McIntyre's never diappoints. Discovered this place during the pandemic and is now a regular spot. Way better than the MRP. If you're looking for menu reccomendations, we always get the Black and Blue Burger- best in town, get the onion rings on the side. They're the perfect crunch on the outside and soft onion on the inside that never pulls out of the batter on you! Also reccomend any of the tots, but we love the hot tots. McIntyre's has the best selection of beer on draft with local, domestic and international selection. And if you're more of a cocktail person try any of their specialty cocktails or ask for a rasberry cosmo. read more

I love the food here but I do not feel safe eating here during COVID-19. The hostess did not wear a mask and was smoking during her shift. Our waitress was not wearing her mask properly and had an attitude. We asked a request for a meal and was immediately told the chef "doesn't do that". How do you know if you don't ask the chef?? She also got something in our order wrong and our dinners were brought out while we were still eating apps. She did comp us a beer for the mistake. However we would've enjoyed our meals so much better if she was at least friendly or nice. It was like she couldn't be bothered. Next time hopefully Mike is our server. read more

First off the servers are amazing, so sweet and caring. The owners/managers on the other hand are the reason for this review and If I can give them a zero star I would. The most racist uncomfortable bar I have ever walked into. When first walking in my group felt all eyes on us as if we weren't welcome, the drinks were terrible and watered down, after only being there for an hour we got cut off. As a business owner I'd be ashamed if I were them, they also didn't hide how racist and rude they can be as they basically yelled and mocked us in our faces. Welcome to Toms River. read more

The new place looks really nice! It's a lot more minimalist than the previous location. Dim lights, nice wood and granite bar. The bar is large, but nowhere near as big as the old one. They have a good number of taps and bottled beers, as well as spirits. There is also a limited menu for now. The menu even limited is a good size. We actually had a hard time deciding on what we wanted. For starters we settled on the boneless Cajun wings. Instead of the normal nugget type things, we were treated to cut breast pieces. The Cajun seasoning was spicy but not too hot. The chicken was moist and delicious. I got the fish sandwich for dinner. I was served the fish and chips, but it was corrected, you can't get everything right the first few days. The sandwich was worth the wait. Old bay seasoned fish with lettuce and tomato on a torpedo roll with really good fries. The place still has a bunch of TVs and a fun atmosphere. I have been to this place quite a few times in the past 3 years, I have never been thrilled with the service, especially that I have been a bartender for 30 years! I have always over tipped being in the industry, and tonight for the first time in my life I walked out without leaving a tip. Yes! Did I feel horrible absolutely, however the female bartender behind the bar deserved nothing less than a punch in the face, never mind a tip! Not the first time she has been rude, last time she was outright racist and today outright rude. Plenty of places in the area to spend my money and be respected. Answer: that McIntyre's was much better (awesome , to be exact) in it's previous iteration on Rt. 37 in the K Mart plaza in Toms River. The draft beer selection was THE BEST around. They also had an eclectic and wide array of rare and as well as classic Scotchs - one of life's great pleasures. As Artie (played by Rip Torn on the old Larry Sanders show) said about Glenlivet, "This is what you smell on God's breath when you die." The food was also very good to great, BTW. What I like from the star is that they serve dinner til 12:00 midnight. We both started with the pasta fagioli which was very good. We both had the Tuscan salad with ranch dressing which is mixed greens, roasted red peppers, fresh mozzarella, sliced portobello and tomato. This also was very good. Finally, we both had the prime rib melt, which is blackened prime rib smothered with cheddar and topped with onion rings. Also perfect. We'll be going back here soon. read more

After a fairly disappointing visit to Brick's other Irish-esque pub (Sweeney's), I decided it was about time to give McIntyres a shot, and I'm honestly really glad that I did. Upon walking in, the first thing you'll find is that the decor is.... well, it's anything but Irish. A real 'sports bar' vibe here, complete with rowdy locals during sportsball games all cheering and jeering loudly at the many TV screens. I generally can't stand sports bars, myself (probably because I don't really care about sports), but I'll give McIntyre's some brownie points for not cranking up the music / TV's to deafening volumes - I could still hold a conversation with the people next to me, hurray. The menu was small but diverse enough to please most people, with a large burger section, as well as quite a few Irish food options. To date, I've had both the Shepard's Pie and the Bangers & Mashed, both of which were pretty damn good, very filling, and came with soup or salad; a great value at ~$9. Another huge bonus for this place is their beer selection - there's a good selection of craft beers here, as well as some local brews that fit right in (such as Rinn Duin's Irish-styled beers). Beers were a *touch* on the higher side, with a pint of Guinness costing $6.50, where I'm used to paying more like $6, but it's no big deal, the food cost balances it out. McIntyre's is a solid option for some Irish food, good brews, and burgers. Glad I found out about this place - it's tucked away in a fairly secluded lot, a true local hidden gem. read more

I had been to the previous location years ago and had heard many positive things about it. I was intrigued to stop by today and check out the new location. Unless I meet up with friends, I will not return and here is why. First, when you walk in, there is no character. It is predominately gray and not a lot of decor. Second, there was one dart board. No multiple boards, golden tee golf, shuffleboard, etc. Just one dart board. Third, I ordered the wings and they were average at best. Not much sauce on them and not cooked well enough. Fourth, after I ordered, none of the bartenders asked me how my food was. The only things I will positively say is that the prices for food were very reasonable, they have a nice beer selection and some decent sized televisions. But as far as service, decor, etc. it was a very bad experience. From reading previous reviews, there has been customers who have had much better experiences than I have. I hope that whomever decides to visit this place has a much better experience than I do. I will try Pub 1850 instead the next time I am in that area. read more

It's a shame because the food was good but we had what was undoubtedly the worst dining experience from a restaurant in my entire life. We were berated by the waitress who was confrontational after having gotten an order wrong and disappeared so long that we had to get our second round of drinks from the bar, in a half empty bar. She then proceeded to gossip about us to other co-workers and patrons in front of our faces when we voiced our displeasure with the wrong order and service. The manager on duty also decided to back her server in the situation and blame us, who clearly doesn't understand her role in the service industry. Having this woman as an employee is keeping people from coming to your bar and destroying your business. This clearly isn't the first less-than favorable review of said employee but it should be known that it is bad enough to avoid this place at all costs. We will never be back again. This is also the the only restaurant experience that has disgruntled me enough to leave a review. read more

Hit or miss. Went last night I was not overly crowded we were seated right away. Our waiter seemed overwhelmed and flustered. Boxty Cakes were great. Sangria was tasty. Smothered steak sandwich. While the meat was tender it was virtually flavorless. The onions were barely sautéed , the mushrooms were canned and the garlic bread base was a frozen garlic bread with zero aus jus (the whole point of the bread). I was disappointed with the lack of fresh products. Will try again and hope to improve review. read more
