I've been to Macu (UW) a few times, now. Overall, their li-li teas (with the fresh fruit pulp) are my favorite. The milk teas are alright, but in my opinion Taiwan-style fresh fruit teas are where it's at. The "Sunshine" (orange and passionfruit) and pink grapefruit are terrific; I am less crazy about the mango (which has tiny chunks, but no pulp).
Had a great time ordering at this Macu Tea! Super convenient location in the UW area and near my hotel. I got here around a Tuesday afternoon around 3:30 pm and it was somewhat busy with other people waiting for their order, but I was able to review the menu and place my order on their iPad. I ordered the orange and mango li-li tea with jelly; it's one of their top 10 drinks. It's a cute space with some high tables and majority of low tables for seating. My order took about 7 minutes, and it was made to my liking. Super refreshing, loved the mango bits in the drink, and semi-sweet. Good boba shop experience!
I stopped by this store on a Sunday afternoon and their drinks did not disappoint. Parking nearby was easy to find. We ordered on the kiosk, and the drinks were ready shortly after. Chi-chi grape smoothie: I'm a big fan of grape smoothie and very excited to try it here. It was yummy and not too sweet for me. The cheese foam is a bit salty and goes well with the drink. King of Mango Smoothie: mango drinks are my go-to at Macu tea. As always, it was tasty and worth going out of the way for. The restaurant was busy but we had no issues finding a table. It can get loud at times, overall it is a good place to catch up with friends or get some work done.
Macu Tea is one of my favorite boba spots, super glad they're around U-District. The location seems cursed though, there have been at least 4 different boba spots in the past decade maybe because of rent but I hope Macu sticks around. According to my brother it's also very popular in Taiwan and I can see why (unlike all the other boba spots that claim to be popular in Taiwan but really aren't). While they're known for the fruit teas and "drinking desserts" that can be filling, I really enjoy their milk teas and boba. Mangoes are a huge hit here, but I'm not sure if they get worse when not in season, as another friend tried the mango recently and thought it was mid. Golden Leaf Milk Tea w/ Boba - this is my go to and the boba always hits. It's soft and chewy with actual flavor as they do a good job marinating in brown sugar. While it could be bouncier, the boba is fresh every time I visit. The tea is a light oolong which is light and refreshing with faint floral undertones. Maybe a little too much milk but the ratio is pretty solid for a balance of creaminess and tea presence.
I think Macu Tea is amazing. It has the best li li tea that has such a refreshing taste and when you drink it, it feels like we can get out of this summer heat in Washington. The service is also so quick with the kiosk to getting my tea, and they give you such a cool carrying case for your tea. I love the white ambiance which shows how clean they are.
Stopped by maybe 30min before they closed--they were out of a lot of things already by that time. Kinda shows ya how popular this place is in the u district lol. But for good reason! I'm not a big boba person but macu just might be my fav. I tried something new this time just cuz they ran out of the things I normally get (e.g. mango stuff lol) , anddddd while it was still solid, it wasn't as good as other things I've tried from them. Props tho for the fact that you can legit taste the pieces of fruit in their drinks. It's not overly sweet and idk, it just tastes more natural/better/fresher than other spots.
Fresh and tasty drinks perfect for a sunny day! Macu Tea is always busy as the drinks are delicious. Menu is large so there is something for everyone with caffeine free options and smoothies available. Very modern and simple interior with 2 ordering screens with photos of the drinks which is helpful. Staff was very kind and friendly during my visit 06/03/25. I ordered the Strawberry Tiramisu for the first time and it was delightful! I would recommend Macu Tea if you're looking for a fresh beverage on a nice day :)

First time I had mango smoothie was at the MACU in Canada. I didn't know there were locations in WA!!! I heard there's a Bellevue location which is closer to me. I did notice the mango seemed more fresh and sweet at the Canada location. UW location was a bit more tart. Still good. I just ordered via the kiosk, so never really interacted with the employees except when they called my number. It seemed like a normal Busy college town where people hung out and studied. Glad these kids have a place to hang out. Parking was filled with homeless hanging out. So hubby dropped me off until I called to let him know I'm ready. I'll have to check out the Bellevue location next. Wish they had a location south end. I met the owners at a yelp event last fall, sweet people...I asked them to open one up down south Auburn, Covington, Renton , etc...
Macu Tea does fruit tea really well! I dropped by on a chilly Seattle evening and ordered the grapefruit li-li tea. Drinks took a while to come out but they were pretty busy, being near a college and all. The shop was clean and cute, with some good seating for yapping and sipping on our tea. I also appreciate that they had boba sleeves on offer which are convenient for transport, especially on a cold day. A somewhat petty gripe I have is that their drink naming makes it a bit confusing to understand exactly what I am ordering. I had to read the menu closely to understand what chi-chi and li-li were. There is a difference between a tea with fruit and a Fruit Tea to me, and Macu's grapefruit li-li tea was definitely the latter. The drink came with plentiful fresh pulp, perfectly sweetened, that bursts in your mouth with each sip. At a reduced sweetness, it was still a tad too sweet for me. The fragrant jasmine tea paired so well with it, and each component enhanced the other. It was very good for such a deceptively simple drink! I would love to try their other drinks on offer, as I heard they are known for their mango drinks as well.
Located in UDistrict and on 45th, parking is abysmal, but the drinks are a surprise! I had one order, King of Mango smoothie ($8). I thought this would be a predictable taste, but there's a lot going on, not too sweet, and v v v fresh. It's worth trying at least once!
I find that a lot of boba places that sell slushes still have noticeable ice chunks, but macu's bo-bo strawberry slush was smooth as can be! My friends got the king mango smoothie that apparently wasn't that good though.
Great drinks! I've been to the Taiwan locations, and it's so good! I love how fresh their fruit tea is. The milk tea is also super good! I love how you can pick 10% sweetness!

Service: The two people working here were lovely, very friendly and approachable, lots of joking around. Tea: Precustomized with toppers, changes are not allowed. The emphasis here is on fruit teas. - Mango smoothie: this was good, just really really cold on an icy day! Great sweet mango flavor though. - QQ passion fruit tea 50% sweet no ice. This was a good sweetness level, passion fruit is pretty sour here so the sugar helped to balance it out. Not sure I love the seeds- particularly crunchy here, but loved the lychee jelly and boba was cooked well. Price point: Around $20 for two drinks. For plant based folx: Doesn't seem like there are milk alternatives here, but there are plenty of fruit based drinks. Ambiance: A few board games and jenga on the tables. Clean bright and modern. Some people here clearly hanging out or studying. read more
This place is so worth the drive! We live in Renton and we drove to this part of Seattle for this new fruit/boba tea spot. We got the Sunshine tea, Bo-Bo strawberry smoothie, matcha tiramisu, and grapefruit with honey fruit tea. All of them were super yummy. The fruit teas are made with fresh fruit and you can see the staff with the fresh fruits right in front of you. Speaking of the staff, the cashier was super friendly and engaging. If you're looking for some nice tea and drinks with some cool vibes, you should check this place out! The place looked new and it's pretty organized and has a good aesthetic and ambiance to it. There's plenty of seating and would be a nice place to get some work done We got their strawberry tiramisu and matcha tiramisu. The strawberry drink was pretty good. It was fruity, sweet, and the tiramisu added a nice change to the flavor. The bad part of the drink was that there were several small, chunks of ice, so maybe it wasn't blended well enough. The matcha drink was good as well. It wasn't too strong and not too sweet The service was good. The drinks didn't take that long to make. After making your drinks, they give you this nice drink holder. It's really helpful since you don't have to hold on to the cold drinks! Pretty useful! Loved this place! A short 2 minute walk from the U District light rail station, this boba place recently opened up. I came here during a Yelp Elite event that my partner was invited to. We got the Passion Fruit Li-Li tea and Grapefruit Li-Li w/ Honey drink! There was an error with the system when it came to giving us the Yelp Elite promo. Despite that, the workers were incredibly nice and helpful to resolve the issue, even the manager stepped in to help us. The manager also handed out free samples to us and ensured our experience at Macu was going great. Overall, the ambiance and drinks of Macu were amazing (helped that they played good music). Tried their BOGO matcha tiramisus when they first opened and I was not a fan of the drink. I never tried a drink like this so I don't believe it was their fault I didn't enjoy it. I later went back for a classic black milk tea and felt that was a lot better. The interior and workers are nice and I enjoyed one of their fruit teas they were handing out. I think this place is worth checking out if you are a boba lover! read more

Today 12/20/23 I came into Macu Tea during their Day 1 Grand Opening! Funny enough I tried Macu Tea for the very first time a few days ago in Vancouver Canada 12/17/23, so I was really excited to see how they compare since the one in Canada was definitely a 5-out-of-5. This location was formerly ran by R&B Tea, however since that place closed I noticed Macu Tea placed up their sign during the recent summer and have now opened this week. I came inside an hour ago around 3pm with my partner and her friends. Although there was somewhat of a long line it went by pretty quick! And even with the long line, because it was Grand Opening week there was a worker giving out free samples to promote their drink of the day happening tomorrow. There is also a promotion happening now until Friday where you can get BOGO on select drinks. My partner and I ordered the same drink we got back at the Macu Tea Vancouver, the Bo-Bo Strawberry Smoothie drink so that we can compare whether it was the same or not. What I can gladly say is that this drink is still really tasty! There were only subtle differences like ice texture and the drink had a duller color, but other than that the delicious refreshing taste was still there! With the BOGO we also got the Boba Milk Tea without any adjustments, and the drink turned out very tasty as well! I really like how nicely the boba was cooked as it had the PERFECT chewy-ness that very few boba places get right. For Grand Opening week I am surprised at how high quality everything is despite the large line of people and the numerous staff working together today to get everything working out amazingly. This might just become one of my top 3 boba places in all of the Seattle Area, so I am hoping they continue making great drinks! The cashier was friendly and answered all of my questions about the differences between the different mango smoothies. I got the Bo-Bo Mango Smoothie. The green tea jelly it comes with had a slight bitterness to it because it tasted like real green tea. The mango was super fresh and you could tell it was made from real mangoes. Clean and nice interior for sitting or studying too! read more
The ordering was easy and efficient and my drink was tasty. They were out of boba but the QQ noodles were good. I was a bit confused about why they upcharged me for them when the boba that would be included in the one I ordered wasn't available but meh. The cup was cute and they gave me a really nice holder. Located in UW among many other boba shops, I tried this place out as I work my way down the list of boba places here. I got the golden leaf milk tea with chi-chi (cheese foam) and 3Q (boba, coconut jelly, and bo-bo (agar)). I opted for 30% sugar and 30% ice, but it was still a bit too sweet for me. Perhaps. this is because the 3Q topping has added sugar, but it was just a bit too sweet overall. I enjoyed the tea flavor from the golden leaf milk tea, and the boba texture is fairly solid. I liked the coconut jelly and agar that added additional texture, something that I usually do not go out of the way adding as it is pricey, but I decided to still give it a try as the order is placed under my team. Overall, this is a solid boba spot, and currently, they have a Peanuts / Snoopy collaboration so you may get some of those designed cups! read more
We got the king mango smoothie and the grape smoothie. It was all so refreshing. The mango is definitely fresh - there were literally crates of mangoes sitting in the store. And the drink itself had mango chunks in it. The creaminess with all the toppings, and the burst of i think grapefruit pulp is such a good touch. There's a lot going on with the drink and all of it is good. The wait time was a bit but we just chilled - there weren't much staff and there was a decent flow of people so makes sense. read more

My roommate's favorite boba spot finally opened their first location in Washington. I had this recently in Taiwan. Drove here on Xmas Eve, paid for the toll to get to this side of town, no regrets. They have a list of their top drinks to order if you're indecisive; there's a variety of milk teas, fruit teas, blended drinks. You can also have the option to add boba or cheese foam. Honestly, there's just so many good boba franchises out now especially in the area, the bad places are really bad, but all the good places are relatively similar, just depends on your personal preference to what drink you're seeking out I guess. This is located across right on 45th kind of near Trader Joe's, you'll have to find street parking. Probably good for the students living around here and can walk. There's a lot of bubble tea shops out there these days, and most of them blend together for me tbh. Currently I feel like I only really enjoy going to CHICHA San Chen, Yifang, and Meet Fresh. After going to Macu today, I'm happy to add another bubble tea place to that list of shops. I decided to get the chi chi strawberry smoothie since it was listed as their top drink on their top 10 board, and fruity drinks seems to be a speciality of theirs based on their slogan ("Fruit Your Life"). Normally I would have gone with a mango drink, but I heard from the cashier that the grape and mango drinks were not available (possibly until late Feb 2024). The chi chi strawberry smoothie was delicious. I liked the creaminess that the salty cheese foam (chi chi) added to the strawberry smoothie and the green tea jelly at the bottom was an unexpectedly nice chewy addition to the drink. If you want a more chewy topping at the bottom, I would consider getting the bo bo strawberry smoothie which has agar jelly (bo bo) at the bottom in lieu of the salty cheese foam. The sweetness of the drink was also on point. Overall I can't wait to come back. I'm excited to see what their other top drinks taste like. read more

Overall this is a good bubble tea spot. They have taken the space of another bubble tea spot. Their logo is appealing with a vibrant red which is also on their tea holders. I'm sure I'll keep using my holder in the future! They have "dessert teas" which may be appealing if you're looking for something sweet. I liked the green tea jelly in my drink the most. They were pretty quick with the orders but my main issue was the placement of the register. For just a short line. It was really cramped in the front. I will definitely give this spot another go, maybe when I'm in the mood for something sweet. read more

Macu tea opened up in the beginning of the month and I finally got the chance to try it. Macu replaced R&B Tea so I wondering if it was better. I went with my friends and we ordered Tieguanyin Milk Tea with boba, Chi Chi Golden Leaf Tea with QQ, Boba Milk Tea, and Matcha Tiramisu. My friends all enjoyed their drinks and it wasn't too sweet. The Chi Chi and the Matcha Tiramisu had a lot of cheese foam and that took a lot of the drink, but overall very yummy. Along with the drinks we got to try a sample of their milk tea. The employee forgot to give a sample to one of my friends when she ordered though. The employees are nice and quick making the drinks and they taste good. I must say, my expectations were pleasantly shattered at Macu Tea. As someone who typically tiptoes around the boba craze, I was caught off guard by the toothsomeness that awaited me here. Now, I've had my fair share of boba encounters, and more often than not, I find myself underwhelmed. But Macau Tea? They've mastered the art of boba perfection. These little spheres of joy strike the ideal balance between chewy and bouncy, making each bite a tiny celebration in your mouth. And the drinks? I opted for their Chi-Chi Strawberry Smoothie along with the Chi-Chi Golden Leaf Tea (I love cheese foam). Though I was unable to adjust the sweetness on the smoothie, I was nevertheless surprised that the sweetness was not overpowering, but rather complemented the sweetness of the boba very well. It was like the drink whispered sweet nothings to my taste buds instead of shouting in their faces like some other places tend to do. So glad Macu made it to Seattle! There's alot of boba in UVill but they are in my top 3 because of a few reasons: (1) exceptional service: the manager was wonderful & so was the cashier who asked me questions on my recent trip to Taiwan. (2) the chill and warm vibes, it felt like an escape in the cold rainy weather and got me more excited for my boba! (3) the awesome slingable drinks. Me and my friends all enjoyed our various drinks -- they got the Tieguanyin Oolong (50% and 10%) while I got the wintermelon with fresh milk and boba (fixed sugar was not too sweet!). The boba was nice, bouncy and flavorful & while we were there we got to sample the Sunshine Li-Li which would be an exceptional, refreshing summer treat. I'll definitely be coming back! Bonus points for the Macu x Snoopy partnership, so adorable! read more
Citrus season is unmatched - I love grapefruit bubble tea and Macu tea definitely hit the spot. Fresh - there was so much grapefruit pulp in my bbt! My bbt with boba came out to $8.75 pre-tip, so a little bit pricer than other places but still really enjoyed the tea flavor. I first tried in Richmond, Canada because I know their mango bevs are popular. But it's only a seasonal item - so I'll be back for sure!! The passion fruit li li tea is the first one I tried and left a good impression. Cant wait to try the others! Andddd it was cold wben I went so this carrying handle helped me immensely! Edit to my previous review: Christie (the manager) reached out after our previous bad experience and generously offered to remake our drinks for free, so we decided to swing back and try this place again. I got the Tieguanyin Oolong milk tea with green tea jelly and enjoyed it a lot! The tea flavor is strong and nicely balanced, and even though the store was much more crowded than last time, we got our drinks after a very reasonable wait. read more
