Got a variety of milk tea, Lili tea, and smoothies for friends to try. Loved the real fruit in the smoothies and Lili teas. Unfortunately they don't have mango until March, but the strawberry was nice, not too sweet. The milk tea was 50% sugar but still quite sweet for us. Would try lower sugar in the future. read more

I love boba and love keeping up with all the new boba shops opening in the area. Macu Tea is a franchise from Taiwan that just opened a store in Udistrict. I first heard about Macu Tea from their locations in Vancouver and how they specialize in drinking desserts (specifically their mango series when it's in season). I was super excited that one opened near me and I didn't have to travel to vancouver to try! I tried their tieguanyin for their LNY special and for the snoopy collab cups. I got 80% sweet and definitely thought I could go lower. The tieguanyin had a decent tea and milk flavor, but I definitely prefer TP Tea's version over Macu. I have also tried their QQ Passionfruit Drink, which I liked much better. The fruit taste was fresh and non-artificial tasting! I also liked that it came with lychee jelly and boba. They only had two workers when I came in, so they were a bit slow and drinks took a few minutes longer to come out. However, I saw that they were willing to answer customer questions. They have a good amount of tables for people to sit at and I believe they have wifi for studying as well. read more

Came here once. Not going back. My friend and I walk in. The place was empty. 3 employees were behind the counter: 1 guy and 2 girls. The girls were uninterested in helping so the guy took over the register. Yup, those girls were only there to stand around and collect paychecks. Had the Chi-Chi Strawberry Smoothie. Wasn't that great. Pretty surprised how poorly this place functioned considering they're a new bubble tea shop in the U District. Advice: Don't waste your money here. Go to another bubble tea shop in the U district. There are many other options. You can also hop on the light rail since there are many other good bubble tea shops in Chinatown and Capitol Hill too. read more

We got two peach milk teas but the person taking our order wrote down the incorrect amount of sugar for one of the drinks. Given that it was really busy on Saturday, I still think the drinks were really good! I understand the stress the workers must be stressed so I can't blame them if customer service wasn't there for some people. However, if it was a regular day when business is usual, they are definitely doing great! The shop is a very cute place for dates and studying, and the drinks are very good and tasty! I do think they should have more workers for a better flow when it's busy like how it was on Saturday. The shop was very warm so an AC would help the setting a lot. Seeing people judge workers on their service during a super busy day is doing this business a disservice. If the store is busy, then expect to wait a long time. It's not their fault, there's a reason people flock to this place on a nice day. The drinks are DELICIOUS! So next time when it's busy, stop complaining and stop bothering the workers because if you chose to come there yourself. Blame yourself for not planning your day well. Shame on those that are like this. I hope the workers are getting paid a lot working here because they don't deserve comments from ignorant customers. This is my favorite tea place!! I'm so happy to have discovered it. Love their chi chi mango. So fresh and delicious!! Love their little carrier too! Service is good. And great ambiance with seating along the window area. I always make a point to stop by when I'm in the U District area. Parking can be challenging but it's close to the light rail so sometimes when the craving hits I just hop on the light rail and walk a couple blocks. Go get some for yourself! Came here looking for boba but was somehow sold by the cashier on "bobo", a pathetic ball of semi crystallized tapicoa that is unpleasant in every sense of the sense of the word. On top that, the actual drink itself had the texture of shredded wheat breakfast cereal that had been soaked overnight, or as my friend put it, bland overnight oats. It was so bad we threw it out after 6 or so sips. This would've been a passable experience had the cashiers not somehow coerced us into getting a drink even though we explicitly said we were looking for milk tea with boba (the real kind). The ambience is so nice~ clean aesthetic and plenty of seating for the amount of customers coming in. Great service as the person who took my order helped explained certain teas to me. I got a Chi-Chi Golden Leaf Tea, no ice and 10% sweetness with noodle jelly; this was a light and fragrant tea and the sweetness level was the perfect amount. Gonna come here again soon read more

This placed opened on the 21st of December, in the middle of winter. But their menu features summer items, without specifying that it's unavailable. The first three items on their menu are unavailable because mango drinks are summer items--so I'm not sure why they included this on their opening menu. Just change the menu?? Don't have the menu show these items without any note that they're unavailable and I go all the way there only to find out in person they're unavailable.
