I've always put Bobalust in the dessert section rather than boba or tea because in my opinion they really cater to a younger audience that wants excessive sweets. No different here. That being said, it's an alright spot for sweet fruit teas or smoothie blends, as a dessert option. I tried to order 30% sweetness and I guess they don't support that. I don't remember other stores but sounds right, as their less sugar is 50%. Store is huge and spacious, but hard to work in because they blast music. There's also no real self service which can be a hindrance. Napkins, straws, other supplemental items are not available upfront. Service here was extremely transactional. I imagine they hire college students so that's nice, but training is lacking. Lack of warmth and comfort. Made me not even want to stay or ask for anything, so also no idea if wifi is available to the public. Password is not written anywhere. Restrooms not available. Underwhelming overall. Wintermelon Milk Tea - they got the wintermelon taste down, it's just excessively sweet. Good in a pinch or for a refresher. Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #107 I've visited the BobaLust in Lynnwood before and was not impressed. I decided to give them another try, this time at the U District location. Bobalust opens up pretty late for a boba shop - most places start at noon or earlier, but for some reason BobaLust opens at 1PM. This particular location is depressingly dark inside with black painted walls and dark decor. That's a really interesting aesthetic choice (and not my favorite). OG Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Honey Boba ($6.50) - This tea has a strange harsh artificial taste. It's cloyingly sweet and tastes of a very overwhelming kind of flowery and fruity flavor. It doesn't seem to be from the tea and instead may be from either creamer or sweetener. It's overpowering, making the drink very difficult to sip on for my tastes. On top of this strange flavor is a heavy non dairy creamer aroma. It's added in such high quantities that the drink is thickened to almost a cream-like consistency, and has a slight bit of grittiness on the tongue. Even at 50% ice, there's a ton of ice in this drink. After drinking a bit, I went home and added in around 6 ounces of English Breakfast tea and it tempered things down enough to be pleasant. The boba isn't great either. They claim it's honey boba but while the pearls are very heavily sweetened in marinade, I can't detect any honey aroma whatsoever. The texture of the pearls are firm and almost gummy rather than being soft, chewy, and bouncy. Milk Tea Rating: 2/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 I'm still not impressed with this chain. There are way better options in the area for basic milk tea and boba. BobaLust remains in my bottom five boba shops in the Greater Seattle Area out of approximately 100 shops. I loved it! The woman at the cashier was so friendly and accommodating. She answered all of my questions and helped lead me to what drink I wanted. I ultimately ordered an OG milk tea with honey boba (I was also excited to learn that they use nondairy creamer in their milk teas! I've noticed many other establishments in the area do not). It was delicious! It is more tea-forward and tastes like an earl grey. The boba pearls are perfectly chewy as well. I used to only go to bobalust for fruit teas bc I knew they wouldn't disappoint in delivering a really sweet sugary refreshing drink. But the first time I tried the Thaiger milk tea (house blend black tea with regular tapioca and lychee jelly) everything changed. I would have never thought to pair a milk tea with lychee jelly but this drink is SOOOO GOOD and makes it work. It tasted amazing seriously top 2 boba drinks for me of all time. The staff at BobaLust are super friendly and great! I ordered the chi-chi which is a lychee blue curaçao milk tea with strawberry jelly. I was told by the staff blue curaçao has a citrusy flavor and they really knew their drinks. Its a pretty good drink that has a creamy lychee floral flavor. The strawberry jelly is a little irregularly shaped so some came up the straw while some were stuck. Overall, chi-chi was a little on the sweeter end so I have to try other drinks before making a better decision. Also, there's a lot of seating indoors but keep in mind there's no restroom. read more

BobaLust UW opened up at the start of the month in July 2022. Pretty decent bubble tea, but their drinks lean on the sweeter side with less of an emphasis on the taste of the tea. They have milk, fruit tea, smoothie, and slushie options. I got 50% sugar but it tasted more like 100% sugar compared to most bubble tea shops. I envision the bubble tea to be like equivalent to cocktail drinks except non-alcoholic. They're creative with the names with the drinks being more bright and colorful. The customer service was great. The employee offered to remake my drink if it wasn't to my liking. I feel like there are too many boba shops on the Ave so there is already a lot of competition. The store interior is kept clean and simple. It's conveniently located on the Ave so it makes a great stop for a boba tea run. read more

Bobalust is one of the few good boba joints in Seattle which says a lot cause there are so many that have been popping up. The Ave location is pretty good and I went during one of their less busier times. It's a great place to chill and get a decent drink. I hung out here with a friend for a good 3 hours or so just chatting. So great place for hang outs. There's a good amount of space where you won't feel cramped and has tables and seats available. The area is a bit sketch outside, but inside it's very clean. The service is great, but I simply just asked for the Legend of Momo with no alterations. Made it fairly simple. The drink turned out great, so worth going to for sure. Will stop by again when I'm in the area. read more

Visiting Seattle for a few days--coming from Bay Area with lots of great boba tea shops I walked in with high expectations! Happy to report my expectations have met! Loved the calming modern ambiance with simple classic wooden tables & chairs. We came in late at night, 15 minutes til closing. Yeah i know, not the best time. The guy taking our order at the register greeted us without a drop of irritation. He was friendly, with such a great attitude! He earned the 5 star rating. Service was exceptional! There were so many creative drink selections to chose from, my daughter in law had a hard time deciding which one she wanted. He kindly (and patiently) helped her to make a decision--she went with the LYCHEE BOMB w/ boba...and loved it! The fresh fruit blend of strawberry and lychee was refreshing, not too sweet! My son immediately knew what he wanted--the PURPLE GALAXY--he loved the slushy creamy texture of taro mixed with chocolaty accent of Oreos! He said it's his favorite drink! I ordered the Thai Green Tea with boba. Overall the drink was good; a bit on the pricier end but it was of a decent size and hit the spot, so I can't complain. However, the employee working the register convinced me to not do 0% sugar but 50% because tea would be bitter otherwise. I should have listened to my gut instinct because even 50% was a bit too sweet for me. :( I still liked my drink though and would recommend both the cafe and the Thai Green Tea specifically. SO SO HAPPY that they finally opened a Bobalust in Seattle! I love this chain and am so happy it's now in UDist. Even though their teas aren't the most authentic, I think their flavors are really creative and I always come here when I am craving a lot of sugar. I was pleasantly surprised to see that they had a new flavor, the Hello Kitty, which was a Strawberry Milk Tea with Strawberry. I've been to bobalust many times at their original location. I decided to stop by their new location on the ave. Right off the bat when I was ordering the girl at the register was super friendly and was very knowledgeable about their drinks. From previous experience I knew that their drinks ran very sweet and wanted to try a new drink from my usual (cuddles on the beach) so when I asked the cashier she recommended me to get 0 sugar and that if it wasn't sweet enough she could add more. When she called my number they even let me try the drink first before pouring it into the cup to make sure it was to my liking. I ended up ordering the Hello Kitty and was pleasantly surprised with how good the drink was. Because it contains calpico the drink was sweet enough without needing to add extra sugar (or what ever sweetener they use). I honestly think it's become my new favorite! read more

The boba was absolutely nasty. I got I think it was just a green peach tea with regular pearls and my friend got rose tea with crystal boba. Both were were totally disgusting. It tasted like drinking what scented cleaning products smell like. Even tho we both got at prefer lower sweetness levels, the artificial tasting flavor were still exceptionally strong tho probably just because it wasn't good, but somehow the taste of the water (not tea, it genuinely tasted like slightly off tap water attempted to be covered up by the flavoring) came through anyway. Maybe it was because they'd been busy before, not that it took too long to get the drinks anyway, but I'd be surprised if they'd bothered to actually brew tea, or if they ran out. If that'd been the case, tho, I feel like they should've just said they were out of tea considering that's a pretty fundamental ingredient. The ppl working there were nice enough, and like I said they did get it out fast, and it's not their fault it sucked, it just did. The boba was equally terrible, with a nasty flavor that felt both undercooked and like 'imitation' as tho they used 'ready made' boba. It wasn't chewy, but rather hard and crystalline, and also had an artificial flavor/sweetener taste to them. The crystal boba was somehow possibly worse. It did seem like they at least had some mixed drinks or whatever, but if you don't have good tea and ur boba is bad it doesn't really matter. On top of everything, this place was even more pricy than most of my go to spots which are a lot better (everywhere was busy for some UW thing so it was hard to find anywhere where the line had died down). BobaLust tastes is like one of those touristy boba spots that tries to cash in on people not knowing what to expect or like a 'sweeter palate' or smth. Full 5 stars for this boba shop because their menu contains WINTERMELON, my favorite, there are lots of creative and delicious-looking drink options, there's free wifi with many tables and seating, and the staff are really friendly! Another great feature I noticed is that every single table has an outlet that accompanies it, so it's perfect for popping in to study or do work. You don't have to be that person that goes in and looks longingly at the folks that snagged a spot with the highly sought after outlet. I normally stick with the basics--wintermelon tea if they have it or milk tea, but I decided to add on a fun one to try and actually loved it. It was called Cuddles on the Beach (peach, mango, peach bits, strawberry bits) and yea, very good stuff. The Wintermelon Bliss was also excellent. If you've had the wintermelon tea from Yi Fang, it's really similar to that flavor but with milk, grass jelly, and boba. Excited to try more! read more
