Matcha Oolong Milk Tea with oat milk upcharge
    Kylie S.

Stopped by here during our week in Seattle since it's located right next to Trader Joe's! Place is small with one entrance and an exit door on the other side. You can order with the tablets on the side and they'll call the name you input for the order. The matcha oolong milk tea with oat milk upcharge was good, but I can't believe I paid nearly $10 for a drink. Boba was warm and soft. I'm not sure if it comes with boba and I added extra, but it did upcharge me for that as well. You can customize milk options as well as sweetness level. However, I don't think I enjoyed it enough to justify paying the $10. My friend had an Oreo drink which she did enjoy!

One of the best milk tea and fruit tea place in Seattle! Love the individual house-made milk and tea favors

This is my favorite boba spot in U-District. However, this is the only place where the actual tapioca balls expand after a while and they don't fit in the straw anymore which really takes away from the drinking experience. If they can fix that issue and be more consistent overall it would be 5 stars from me.

Super good milk tea and good selection of drinks ! Good location in udistrict and cap hill

I bought matcha when the Capitol Hill location just opened and it was amazing. Bought the same strawberry matcha from Capitol Hill location it was so disgusting. The staff was welcoming n kind tho.. Edited review... I reached out to them on instagram and voiced my concern and they were amazing so I will say their customer service is commendable.

I have been a frequent customer here now for a while and Sunright Tea Studio never disappoints! Staff is always helpful and friendly. Location is next to Trader Joe's with two self order screens available in the entrance area. This shop is more of a to go location. I give a 4.5 stars but round up to 5 stars for only one reason. All of the drinks I've had have been yummy but only thing inconsistent and can be a miss sometimes is the honey boba. Sometimes and has happened more than twice now it will be clumpy and hard to drink through the boba straw. Texture can be inconsistent and I just get annoyed and open the lid and use a spoon to eat the boba tbh. As for the brown sugar boba the texture is always soft and yummy and flavorful. I will stick just to the brown sugar boba from now on. Some drinks that are my favs and I recommend here are the iced Strawberry Matcha Latte with any boba, the Matcha Oolong Milk Tea iced with boba, and the hot Hokkaido Milk Tea with brown sugar boba. If I'm craving boba in the u district this is always top of my list as I know it will satisfy that craving asap! Large menu and helpful staff if you have questions. I can't wait to try more of the menu :) I recommend and will return!

    Sunright Boba Milk Tea

I went to college in LA and at that time, Half and Half was the trendiest boba shop to visit in SGV. After leaving for ten years and visiting again, Sunright had replaced it, at least according to the waiter at the first restaurant I went to after landing. He actually asked me to pick a drink up for him and I agreed, if only because it was a 5 min walk away. I came out very disappointed, with a drink that could only be described as chalky with rock hard boba. Now fast forward to today - I was hesitant to visit the U District branch of Sunright Tea Studio due to my prior bad experience, but decided to give it a chance. The store itself is quite small and is primarily take out only with no permanent seating (only a bench by the window that was covered with water on my visit). There are two kiosks by the door, making ordering easy, and the drinks come out fast. Sunright Boba Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, Less Ice ($6.95) - The taste of the Ceylon tea is light and mild, a bit overpowered by a caramelized milky taste. I wish they offered lactose free milk as an option, but unfortunately the only option is Oat Milk, which not only adds a whopping $1.50 to the drink, but also typically overpowers the drink with that classic oat milk taste. At any rate, I believe the drink is made with milk powder and I didn't have any issues at the end of the day. The sweetness at 50% is pretty well balanced; I'm surprised that they recommend 100% for this drink. I ordered the drink with less ice, and I can confirm that they do make the drink less ice. They add just a bit over what is required to cool down the drink, so there are only a couple of ice chips remaining. The boba, which is included in this drink, is quite good. It has a good bounce and chew, is almost right in the middle between being too firm and too soft, and is pretty consistent in size. The exterior is mostly smooth; there's just a tiny bit of the very exterior layer that starts to disintegrate. They stick together just a bit thanks to the sweet brown sugar soak. Milk Tea Rating: 4/5 Boba Rating: 5/5 I'm glad I gave this chain a second chance. They serve some solid boba, and although it's not my top drink in the U District, I think it's worth a try for anyone in the area. Bathrooms: None that are customer accessible.

Stopped in for the watermelon refresher at bobafest. It was really tasty but there was some gritty pulp at the bottom that I didn't love so I didn't finish it all the way. The service was speedy. The ambiance was kinda noisy and crowded because of bobafest but normally it's more chill.

    Sarah C.

was a bit adventurous and went for the seasonal dubai chocolate frostie 50% sweet ($9.50 on doordash) and it was way too icy that the flavors didn't blend together well. I like the milk and fruit teas usually so I'll stick to those next time

This is a very small boba shop located next to Trader Joe's. There isn't really seating room, it's more of a grab and go boba shop. You place your order at the kiosk when you walk in. I got one of the customer favorites: matcha oolong milk tea with boba added. The tea itself was very good and the boba was nice and chewy. I would come back here.

Similar to nom nom sando order station, there is no staff manning the cash wrap (staff was in the back preparing orders), so it was hard to get her attention and ask about the drinks. Drink was pretty good. I added milk mochi because I was curious, but I regret it. Mochi just tasted like flavorless pieces of gluten and it got in the way of the drink too much. I recommend getting the peach yogurt drink as is.

Shockingly, I have not taken the time to leave thoughts here. I was starting school when Boba Up…read morewas being built and had an extremely brief chat with the owner in 2018 as I inquired about the shop and concept. Honestly, they have a pretty mediocre reputation among Asians who are familiar with boba, but I'd say Boba Up is good for what it offers (overly sweet dessert). Perhaps a decent entry to assimilate into boba before venturing into the more authentic spots. To quickly get the cons out of the way, quality isn't super high and price started out lower than others but have been steadily increasing to match or surpass other boba spots. Sweetness cannot be lowered and by default, it's pretty high. Toppings can get stale (particularly the boba) as it's left out and not always fresh. They also supposedly offer a free birthday drink but it's almost impossible to redeem (eventually after over 5 minutes, might as well buy a drink - my friend just recently had this dilemma). For a quick list of pros, they are one of the closest options for boba near UW campus, they have the best opening flexibility (open later than every other spot), and obviously variety so there's almost something for everyone. Come here for sugar, desserty drinks, the customization of toppings, or just a refreshment. Don't come here expecting strong authentic tea. Decent amount of seating with board games available, so stay for the vibes. An occasional visit for me when I'm in the mood, but realistically not the best boba experience.

That being said, it's an alright spot for sweet fruit teas or smoothie blends, as a dessert option. I tried to order 30% sweetness and I guess they don't support that. I don't remember other stores but sounds right, as their less sugar is 50%. Store is huge and spacious, but hard to work in because they blast music. There's also no real self service which can be a hindrance. Napkins, straws, other supplemental items are not available upfront. Service here was extremely transactional. I imagine they hire college students so that's nice, but training is lacking. Lack of warmth and comfort. Made me not even want to stay or ask for anything, so also no idea if wifi is available to the public. Password is not written anywhere. Restrooms not available. Underwhelming overall. Wintermelon Milk Tea - they got the wintermelon taste down, it's just excessively sweet. Good in a pinch or for a refresher. I will say their cup sizes are large, which perhaps makes it similar to the super sweet drinks at some coffee chains.

Seattle-Area Boba Shop Review #107…read more I've visited the BobaLust in Lynnwood before and was not impressed. I decided to give them another try, this time at the U District location. Bobalust opens up pretty late for a boba shop - most places start at noon or earlier, but for some reason BobaLust opens at 1PM. This particular location is depressingly dark inside with black painted walls and dark decor. That's a really interesting aesthetic choice (and not my favorite). OG Milk Tea, 50% Sweet, 50% Ice w/ Honey Boba ($6.50) - This tea has a strange harsh artificial taste. It's cloyingly sweet and tastes of a very overwhelming kind of flowery and fruity flavor. It doesn't seem to be from the tea and instead may be from either creamer or sweetener. It's overpowering, making the drink very difficult to sip on for my tastes. On top of this strange flavor is a heavy non dairy creamer aroma. It's added in such high quantities that the drink is thickened to almost a cream-like consistency, and has a slight bit of grittiness on the tongue. Even at 50% ice, there's a ton of ice in this drink. After drinking a bit, I went home and added in around 6 ounces of English Breakfast tea and it tempered things down enough to be pleasant. The boba isn't great either. They claim it's honey boba but while the pearls are very heavily sweetened in marinade, I can't detect any honey aroma whatsoever. The texture of the pearls are firm and almost gummy rather than being soft, chewy, and bouncy. Milk Tea Rating: 2/5 Boba Rating: 2/5 I'm still not impressed with this chain. There are way better options in the area for basic milk tea and boba. BobaLust remains in my bottom five boba shops in the Greater Seattle Area out of approximately 100 shops. Bathrooms - One mixed gender bathroom with two stalls.
