Mac department customer service is the worst.. Mac needs to train employees how to treat customers ...;(

Rosa Montes and her incapable staff, your reluctance to complete my return reaffirms the incompetent staff of that store and poor ratings speak for themselves. To think that Rosa Montes is the "Only Manager" at Macy's, Downey is quite frightening. To imagine the possibility of running into you on any given day as I walk into my neighborhood Macy's, which I have visited and remained a loyal customer of for longer than you have probably lived here, is troubling. Manhatran Beach store did my return. Flawlessly. Perhaps you and your staff need a refresher course on who and how you get paid, if only by High Customer Service standards. I went to this location few days ago. Customer service I have received from fragrance dept was outstanding and then I went to shoes dept its a sad place to be. No one I mean no one came up to me and ask me if they can help me. I open a Macy's card to spend some money I guess shoe dept sales a lot of shoes and they don't need my business. Went to pick up a new dish set and was pleasantly surprised how nice and friendly the staff were. They offered discounts I wasn't aware of and when they couldn't find a coupon code they apologized. Again... they told me, "We are sorry but this item doesn't show any additional discounts (on top of discount already shown from the floor price) available." Good selection of items good sales with a very good prices. I love buying presents for my grandma in the store because they always have something very nice and elegant that I know she would love. They also have a good selection of children's clothing I can always come to the store and find a beautiful dress for my daughter to wear. It has its high and low moments, but overall, this is actually a decent Macy's. Customer service in the center core area (jewelry department for all you non-Macy's folks) is horrendous. But the associates in the second floor are really nice. And the men's area is always clean whenever I go, even the Levi's area! Kudos to their Levi's specialist for keeping her area clean. And if you're assisted by a certain associate and they genuinely made your shopping experience better, make sure they ring you up because associates have sales goals. read more

I really want to give 0 stars but this is only guided towards the Estee Lauder counter. I will never go there again. The most recent issue is in regards to my FAVORITE mascara, Magnascopic, I asked the ditz to get me 2 of them, she looked confused, no shock there, and she starts asking her other ditz co-worker and they said " no, I don't think we have it, it's discontinued" I said, " It's not discontinued!!" She didn't even bother to check. I checked online once I got home and in fact, they ARE NOT discontinued. Avoid this counter of ditzy idiots. read more

This store is always a little Topsy-turvy. Their brand selection is limited and customer service is almost non-existent. I'm not a Macy's fans but occasionally shop here when in need of a quick item and I know I will be in and out. I love Macy's and its cosmetic department but this Macy's in particular is the worst specially the MAC counter! I went yesterday & they only had 2 girl working & 7 girls waiting to be helped. To top it off one of the girls with blonde short hair & glasses was rude as shit, I was clearly trying to keep entertained meanwhile someone helped me & she comes around trying to get a product & doesn't say sorry or excuse me. Like girl yeah you work at MAC but remember anyone can do your job. None of these girls even bothered to tell me or any other girl waiting "you're about to be helped sorry" never returning here. I have been on hold for over 30 minutes waiting to speak with a manager in the Customer Service department regarding my account. Every time I place an order online, my order is cancelled within minutes. I called last night and was I can no longer order online due to excessive claims, which makes no sense as I have only ever returned 2 or 3 items, and I place many orders online. It is not my fault if something arrives to me damaged or defective. I was on hold for over 15 minutes last night trying to speak with a manager and never got one on the line before the call was disconnected. I have a timer going on my cell phone right now and I have passed the 45 minute mark. I am a Macy's platinum card member and have been for 2 years now, but have been buying from Macy's for many more years than that. I work in a customer service environment and my manager would never let me treat customers or callers the way I have been on these calls. In frustration last night, I called to cancel my Macy's card (which is in good standing) and was told by a representative in the financial side that I shouldn't and that customer service should be able to fix this issue. If this issue cannot be fixed, I will have no option but to cancel my Macy's card and take my business, as well as the business of my family and friends elsewhere where consumers are treated better. I will also be quite vocal on social media platforms regarding my treatment by the Macy's customer service. I expect to be contacted by a manager who can assist me with this. And again these morning i was on hold for 30 min waiting for a manager and they hang up!!!! read more

The jewelry department at this store needs help. You'll wait a while until the one person working there is free from sorting or logging in stuff to her computer. Their priority is completing everything else but selling you merchandise. Customer service isn't the best. Due to a damaged bag I was attempting to do a return. The Mk associates told me I needed a UPC number and could find it on online order information. That was a big fat lie. I wonder how this is a demonstration of "easy returns." So I sat aside for 15 minutes to call the customer service number. Once I had the number the returned the item for me. All I can saw is wow... Customer service was not provided. They should have offered to call and ask for the UPC number. Next time I'll go to the Arcadia Macys or Montebello where they truelly provide excellent customer service read more

If you are looking for career wear or women's suits, a bigger Macy's in another city might be better. This store's selection has changed over the years. While you can still get the basics, the range is limited in women's clothes. read more

In writing this review to commend Spencer at the Mac cosmetics counter. When I arrived I knew Mac is usually busy so I waited to see who was going to assist me. When Spencer asked me if I had been helped, I said no. He left the register and came to assist me. He helped me match a foundation and powder, which I was really impressed because I had a color previously that made me look more orange than natural, the colors he chose matched my skin better. Then he helped me choose a blush, I trusted his knowledge and went for a color out of my comfort zone, which I now love. When he went to get the foundation that I was going to buy he said he didn't have it in stock so he gave me a sample. He was very pleasant to talk to and very attentive. I struggle with make-up, especially eye shadow. BRIANNA from the impulse section gave me some great tips and walked me through everything. She was awesome. I ended up getting the Modern Renaissance pallet because she made it look so nice on me. There was also a very nice woman in the Estee Lauder stand that helps me match my double-wear foundation but i cannot recall her name. I feel like the service in these smaller stands is MUCH better than what you would get going to an Ulta (hate!) or even a Sephora (like them, but too busy to help). read more

The perfume department needs to stop pushing a certain perfume on to the customer. I went there with my mom to buy her husband a cologne as a Valentine's Day gift and the sales lady (do not remember her name) kept going on about the Dior scents, how popular they are and how they beat any other scent. I wasn't a fan of the smell but it wasn't up to me to choose anyway. I told my mom "You choose it's for your husband" and the sales lady says "He's your dad too." How nosy of her (He is not by the way). Then I asked her about the Versace cologne which I personally like but I just wanted my mom to smell it and the sales lady made the ugliest disgusted face and said "Ewww no no no that's terrible, it smells powdery. But you can get whatever you want." If I wanted her opinion I would've asked. I personally felt disrespected, she made it seem like she was the perfume expert when in reality all she wanted to do was a sell us that Dior cologne. She was trying to be "friendly" I guess but that is not the way to do it. Who is training these people on customer service. read more

Worst costumer service ever cause I ordered a perfume online and the perfume never came to my house so I went to Macy's and I said I ordered a perfume it was supposed to come to my house and the employee said well it's not my fault your perfume got lost and she said go some where else cause it's sold out and told her can I speak to your manger she said ok and the manger came and he was rude to he said that he didn't care that your perfume got lost were sold out so can you please leave cause we don't want you here and if you don't leave I have to call security on you so I left and found a perfume store in the mall it was called aroma perfume best store ever they had the perfume that I was looking for way cheaper and they treated me way nicer so I recommend you to go to aroma perfume read more

This Macy's sucks. I did an online order and got a confirmation stating my order is ready to be picked up. When I got there they couldn't find my order. I explained to them that I only have 30 mins lunch. After waiting for 30 mins. the sales associate came back and she said she couldn't find my order. Give me another 5 mins. & I'll try to look for it again. She never came back but she sent her manager supposedly by the name of "Julian." He was awful and needs to be trained on how to talk to distress customers. He asked me to tone my voice down at his store. It's easy for him to say when he hasn't been waiting and maybe he doesn't have a lunch time he needs to go by. Poor customer service. I don't know he got the position but he needs to be trained and learned proper manners in dealing with customers. MAC cosmetics here at Macy's needs some serious Customer Service training. I can pretty much say all employees act/think like they're better than everyone else. Today I went to this MAC counter because I was too lazy to drive all the way to Cerritos. I got there, stood around for like 10 minutes, then started looking at the make up on my own, still needed help/advice so I stood there again, looked around for someone to come to me, other customers came and they would all go to them asking if they were being helped and no one would come my way as if I was invisible.These people were pretending as if I wasn't even standing there. After like 15 minutes a girl with short hair, and orange nail polish walked by me, seemed like she was looking for something but wasn't helping anyone. I said "excuse me" as she walked right by me without even stopping and went behind the counter and continued chatting with two other girls.. Needless to say I walked away, and ended up going to my favorite spot "Nordstroms" in Cerritos which also has MAC cosmetics and employees there are so much more friendlier, willing and make clients their main priority.. read more

So tonight my mother and I went in at around 9:15 going to purchase a few Levi's when we approached juniors trying to purchase they said the registers were closed and we could come back tomorrow morning they would put our clothes on hold. I asked to speak to a manager Teresa insisted she was a manager and we couldn't make a purchase. She was very rude and then told us we could go to petites who gladly helped us out. Went in to pickup makeup fm Clinique.(5 stars) Walked right up, got taken care of by the wonderful employees w/all around customer service they always give. I then go to mac to make an exchange on a studio fix powder I purchased online. I get the idiot who immediately tells me I cannot return or exchange @the store-I need to go online to do that. I let her finish then I say, are you sure? Of course she is not sure, she turns to the nearest coworker and asks her. That one says, no she CAN return/exchange here@ store. LIKE I DIDN'T ALREADY KNOW THAT. I tell her what I want,she just has a BLANK I don't give a crap expression the entire time. I STILL HAVE NOT been rude to her. I explain to her again what I want. She finally walks over to where the powders are & starts looking for a color (that I had to ask her for) I thought these people were supposed to be artists who know their makeup?? NOT THIS ONE. She picks a color, doesn't say a word the entire time. I'm like really??? So I take it and swipe it on my arm to compare to the one I bought online. Did I mention the lighting sucks in there? I still can't tell if it's a match or not......You think she asked if she could put some on my face? Nope. I had to ask her if she could please check it against the skin on my face. Oh my goodness!!!! I just tell her how bad the lighting is in there and I'll just take it to try @home. If it doesn't match, I'll just return/exchange it because she has been no help! Awful service this morning. Arrived at the store at 10:20 am to purchase a watch. When I arrived, there was only one associate in the fine jewelry section, which is where the watch I wanted was. She was already attending a customer, who was very annoying and had her pulling out about 20 watches to choose from. She saw me standing there and did not approach me, at least to tell me she was with a customer and would be with me in a minute (the usual courteous thing to do). I waited and waited. Finally 20 minutes later, I approached her and she was still with the same customer, and I asked her if it would take longer because I already knew what I wanted. She said that she was sorry and that it would be a minute. Then another associate walks towards me to ask me if I signed up already. Apparently they had a "waiting list" which the first associate never mentioned. Needless to say, it was very bad and rude service and they lost a sale. I will never go to Macy's at Stonewood Mall in Downey. I took off to the Macy's in Cerritos and I was in and out in 20 minutes, Ruben and the other associate were so friendly, helpful and courteous. read more
