Macy's Backstage at The Streets of Tannesbourne location is one of the nicest I have seen. It's clean, bright, spacious, neat and well organized. It's hard to differentiate this area from the main floor as it seamlessly blends aesthetically and is so well maintained. Definitely the best I've seen and it's a pleasure to shop here. Backstage is Macy's version of a discount store similar to Marshall's but at a much, much smaller scale. They have a little of everything - clothing, bedding, housewares, kitchen gadgets, home decor, shoes, seasonal, handbags, accessories, luggage, pet items, lamps, art, and holiday items. Men's, women's and children's clothing are at lower prices but are also of lower quality than the main store. These are not items that were in Macy's and moved to Backstage; those items go to Last Act on the main floor. The items in Backstage seem to have been made for this purpose similar to how Nordstrom Rack carries a different and lower quality item. The Tory Burch tote is what caught my eye and when I saw the price, I was confused. Just $199 and originally $298, it was a bargain. That's when I looked up and realized I was in the Backstage area. The canvas tote with signature logo in camel leather and matching straps was classic and simple elegance. Timeless and for every season. I had to resist buying it as handbags are a known weakness! But since the pandemic started, I've gotten dressed up 3-4 times, and that includes Christmas, Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's! So I swung it on my shoulder, looked in the mirror and smiled, then did a catch and release. The day I was there they had lots of other purses; tons of sweaters in neutrals as well as colors; loungewear, the new pandemic clothing attire; pants, jeans, coats, pajamas. Basically everything! Since Macy's has a sale practically everyday and sales often apply to items that are marked down, I rarely shop in Backstage because I can get higher quality items at phenomenal prices. The Tannesbourne location is now the exception! With beautiful clothes neatly arranged on racks with plenty of space in between the clothing and between the racks so that you can browse the selection without frustration, I make a bee line to this department! While at Backstage, do check out the kitchen area. It is small, but I always find a gadget I need or to replace one that is old. Bakeware , small white dishes and bowls and serving pieces are also great finds for under $10.00. The home decor area has textured pillows, throws, candles, frames and seasonal items. Easy to find a gift or a small item to give your room a perk-me-up. This Macy's is not anywhere close to my home! But now that Lloyd Center Macy's is closed, I come here even though it's further than Clackamas or Washington Square because I like that it's small. I don't have to go through several floors to find various items. Parking is super easy on the street out front or in the garage next door. This Macy's Backstage is definitely a winner in my book! read more

Ok so I admit it. When I was growing up in Brooklyn, NY, my mom took me to a Macy's in Manhattan. During that trip I proceeded to inadvertently separate myself from her and was literally "Lost in New York". They didn't make a movie about it and I was (obviously) located, but I had always thought that Macy's was a New York store. I have since learned that it is a National chain. Having not been in a Macy's for decades I was tasked to return something this morning. Just a pair of kids shorts that was ordered too big online. I walked in a little after 10 am, it looked like the store was just opening up, but maybe it was my imagination. I would have thought it would be open at 8 or 9 am on a weekday. I walked up to the customer service and after a few seconds the cashier processed the return back to my AMEX. I can't imagine the next time I will be back but if I have to I won't hesitate. read more

This is my go-to Macy's - its the closest to my house and usually always has what i need and/or I'm able to get it shipped to the store for FREE. They offer curbside pick up on the first floor in the parking garage. There's a few spots! It's been easy to check in on their app, but you can also call the number once you're there and someone will help you pretty fast. They'll either place the item in your trunk or roll your back window down. I've always had great experiences. Employees have been helpful and kind. read more

I forgot how much I love this store. I get a few of those Beauty boxes that send you monthly samples. A few weeks ago I got this Clinique cleanser that I was just amazed by. So, I had to have the full size version, of course. I looked at the company first that it sent me the sample and realized, oh wait, I have a coupon at Ulta that could save me some money. Then, I thought about the extras Macy's sometimes had for their high-end makeup. My friends, genuinely I have no idea why people buy crappy makeup because it actually cost you more even with the coupons that you can find in the paper. You can get some ridiculous deals going if you know what you're doing and ride the gift with purchase train. I look online to see and boom! Not only does Clinique have a gift with purchase going right now but it's an incredible one where you get to choose some options. With buying the large size bottle of my cleanser I got a full tub of amazing moisturizer (have and I am not talking about that crappy yellow one that they try giving away all the time everyone hates), three other amazing and decent-sized cleansers, a gorgeous lipstick, a beautiful lip liner and a very ugly bag. I will say though, Clinique always has really ugly bags... I cannot remember actually ever receiving a good-looking bag from Clinique. To heck with the bag though, I was happy enough getting almost $70 in free product. I wanted to try the fancy I store them that they had which one of the other sample packs did have but I really wanted the lip one because I love the lipstick and lip liner that came with it. The really nice lady that was helping me tried to give me a sample but she couldn't find the sample container of the serum. She was telling me that the serum sample would be about the same size as what she was going to give me but when she wasn't able to give me the sample manually she just threw in one of the extras from the gift with purchase which was so sweet of her. There are few sections at Macy's, of the store, that I always glance at because when they have a sale they have an incredible one. Purses were meh this time around. Jewelry (nothing jumped out) and underwear are the other departments I try to always do a run through. This day I bought a $40 bra for $15!!! I wear a DDD ladies and those of you in this sizing and up know that challenge of getting a bra in your size first off. Next, finding something actually attractive and not paying out of the ass for it. This bra even had sizes G etc and was cute as hell in multiple colors. Like I said...when Macy's has a sale....they do not screw around. So, wander through on occasion and you might find yourself very happy that you did. Macy's also issues some pretty great coupons in the paper...especially towards the holiday season and season changeovers so you can really score money off your purchases. Large selection, in store it's different than other locations as far as selection but we enjoy going to the sunglasses hut in this store and the lady working was super friendly and helpful. We did order pick up in store and it worked great as we don't want deliveries where we live. They had a good deal on Oakley sunglasses, buy one pair and get $60 off the second pair so it worked great for my husband and to have multiple pairs of his favorite glasses. read more

This review is mainly for the MAC counter inside of this Macy's. I came here for a major event where MAC retailers were giving out free lipsticks in honor of lipstick day. The line was insane, but the employees kept a smile and treated everyone as they would a paying customer. There were also 10 shades of colors to choose from, which was awesome because other stores were only giving out 2. They of course have an extensive array of lip glosses, foundations, powders, eyeshadows, and products for the brows. As for the Macy's itself, it's a nice store and I've been able to get great brands at decent prices (got a Kipling back for $26 once). I'd probably give it a 4/5. Purchased: MAC products. Service: Great!!! I want to especially give a shout out to Chris (tall guy with the fierce purple lip and the kick ass blonde hair) for getting me the free lipstick color I wanted and for getting the mascara for me without making me have to go back to the end of the line. Man at the Dior parfum area did not comprehend simple english. I asked for a paper bag to carry an item I bought from a store nearby, he could not understand what I was saying in the slightest and tried to take my item from me, trying to tell me I can't have a bag and I need to buy my item first. Finally he understood and said that I couldn't have a bag, I began walking away and he followed me to continue telling me that the bags cost money. He did all of this in a very loud tone. Great location and free parking in garage next to it . Selection of merchandise is scarce though but they definitely have excellent merchandise. This is a smaller Macy's in comparison to others so it does feel like an upscale boutique which is great because you will get amazing service here. The dressing rooms seem to be clean. However, there's lack of cellular phone service inside this Macy's which isn't a good thing if you need to be reachable but it can also be a fantastic thing because you will have uninterrupted shopping and with their fabulous deals, shop til you drop honey! Now for the pathetic part that I don't like to disclose but feel it must be known...the restrooms. These restrooms are worse than a old gas station in some random town. I opened all the stalls except for one because it was occupied and every stall had feces and old yellow urine in it. There was toliet paper on the floors and I almost got sick looking at these restroom stalls. No excuse for that. The lady who came out of the occupied stall said her toliet was dirty too but she just cleaned it and used it because she really could not wait. So for those you ladies reading this post, flush after you use it. We are adults so please act like it. If you don't like touching the handle with your hand like I don't then just use your foot with your shoe to flush. It is basic manners people. The store employees and other customers shouldn't be flushing after you. I left without using the toliet and I could have spent more money there because I wanted to buy some more outfits but I needed to leave this Macy's to use the restroom elsewhere. So on my most recent trip yesterday a little update on the restrooms situation: yes, amen! Thank you and much grateful that there was a woman cleaning the restroom and I saw her throughout the store cleaning as well. This little Macy's will do when I am on my lunch break and I need a staple item. But if I am in need of something fancier, I might not find it at this Macy's as the stock is somewhat more limited when compared to Washington Square or Downtown. I've usually had really good service here. The folks at the cashier will usually have a copy of the latest coupon/WOW pass for me to use so I can get an extra discount on my purchase. I like that. I have had clerks Downtown tell me they don't keep those coupons at the register... I like consistently good service. That impresses. Overall, a good place to pass the lunch hour. read more

Five Stars are for the awesome employees known as Sue, Jocelin, and Holly. Their managers should be proud! Customer service today is rare! The majority of other employees ignored me or didn't offer help. Don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting red carpet service, just pleasant service. Sue was amazing and extremely professional. Holly helped me with heavy items out to my car. Jocelin, helped me with an on-line pick up order. All three ladies were professional, helpful, and friendly. And friendly isn't knowing my life history but just being pleasant. I do hope that Macy will recognize these outstanding employees! If I go into a brick and mortar I do like customer service. I purchased alot of christmas stuffs last december 2018 and she didn't gave me extra paper bags because she said they not allowed to give more. But mind you, I purchased more than $300. One star because we found what we were looking for. We spent over 100 dollars but when we went for the make-up section was another experience. God Awful. I generally don't mind clothes shopping at Macy's, but I don't think I'll ever be back to this location. First gripe, the menswear section was totally lame. I've honestly never had such a hard time finding decent clothes at Macy's before. I was looking for some nice, basic items to wear to job interviews, i.e., black slacks, button up shirts, nothing unusual. The men's department here had very little in those types of items, and instead seemed to be full of dorky striped polos, pleated khakis, and dumpy button up shirts with tacky patterns. It's like stuff your lame dad would have worn ten years ago maybe. Even the Ralph Lauren section seemed to be off the mark here, with the majority of items having those stupid oversized logos that seem to exist purely for uglying up otherwise nice clothes. Secondly, the customer service was downright terrible. I did finally find a couple things worth buying, and when I approached the register I noticed a Macy's employee in front of me in line purchasing items for herself. Not something that would bother me in itself, but she and the girl ringing her up seemed to be taking their sweet time, making small talk, etc, and at one point I noticed the cashier scan a wowpass so this other employee could get an additional discount. When it was finally my turn, the pants I had found rang up for full price, though I had got them off a sale rack. The cashier tried to argue that they were probably put there by a customer and therefore she couldn't do a price adjustment. Then she refused to scan their wowpass for my transaction. She claimed that she wasn't allowed to and that I would have had to bring in my own copy, though every other Macy's I've been to was happy to scan their store copy for me, plus, she had just done exactly that for another employee! Now, I hate being the asshole who makes some poor cashier call a manager over, but I had wasted too much time already to leave empty handed and at the same time wasn't about to be tricked into paying full price for things that were supposed to be on sale. So, she called the manager over (who turned out to be the same girl who was buying things on the clock a few minutes earlier), and she reluctantly applied the discounts, but made it very clear she wasn't happy about it. So despite getting a good price on an item I liked, it was such an ordeal that it hardly felt worth it. This Macy's is a great place to shop if you work there, I guess. I called this location and asked for a cake stand to be held until I could drive over there. The employee said that they had two in stock, and put me on hold to look for it. She came back and said she found the stand in its box and put my full name and phone number on it, and that it would be on hold until the end of the next business day. I offered to pay for it over the phone to ensure it would be held, but she said that she was unable to do that. She said I should pick up my held item at the Service Desk in the Home Goods section. The next evening, I drove out to Tanasbourne to get the cake stand. This in itself was a chore considering it was 6PM on a weeknight driving on 26. Nobody wants to do that if they don't have to. I got to Macy's and went to the counter that the employee had told me to go to. They did not have my item on hold there. Multiple employees looked around at all the various desks and storage areas, and could not find it. There was a display model on the floor, but it was dirty and there was no box. Eventually the manager found another display model of the stand in the stock room. Turns out that the employee on the phone never even found the boxed stand, but lied about it and took my name and phone number for no reason. Apparently the two display models were the "two" they had in stock, so they never had boxed ones to begin with. Thankfully, the manager on duty was able to order me a new stand for delivery. However, it was a colossal waste of time considering if I was going to order it, I would have done that in the first place instead of driving all the way out to Tanasbourne in weeknight traffic. During this whole ordeal, there was another employee at the main Home Goods desk that basically stood and watched everything happen. When other customers would come up, she would look around idly, and if the customers didn't go away, after a minute or two she would say "I can help you over here". She was extremely lazy and kept getting her purse out of the desk and looking through it, even though there were several customers in the area that probably could have used help. I have worked many holiday seasons in retail and if one of my coworkers ever "worked" like that during the week before Christmas, they would be fired. Overall, this Macy's is smaller than the other ones in town and the employees don't seem to care about the integrity of their jobs very much. read more

I love Macy's and shopping st Macy's. It's one of my favorite stores ever and I drop at least 2000 a month. But danm this Macy's has the worst and rudest employees in the world! Especially the store manager Joseph! It's crazy how he got hired to be a manger because his level of professionalism was at an all time low! All time low and he's super rude! He's very nice to the pretty ladies I noticed but I have also observed that to the old ladies and average looking women he's a cold hearted person and is not fair. I go there a lot and I obviously have to wait in line for half an hour to get checked out because they hire Unknowledgable employees and because they are always understaffed! But anyways the point is that the staff is super rude to a lot of customers including myself! They roll their eyes and what not and Joseph is the worst and should immediately be demoted! It's sad that such a big company hires people like him that make the company itself look bad and resent people from shopping at the place. I like in Hillsboro so its convenient for me to go there but Joseph has made my experience so awful shopping there and always making a big deal about everything that he has to do for his customers that I just go to Washington square since everyone i seriously mean everyone at the store is super nice! Super nice people who like to talk and see how your shopping experience has been, ask if you need help or what not. They are understaffed also but their attitude and level of customer service is just awesome! Their managers are super nice especially Donny or something like that! Do not go to this store! The service there is extremely bad! Just had my worst shopping experience there! I recently received an email saying Estee Lauder at Macy's was having a good deal that if you spend more than $35, you can buy a premium package of Estee Lauder's products for a low price. So I went to this Macy's last Wednesday trying to buy a foundation I like and the package. The lady who works there (or the owner?) told me that particular foundation was sold out, and there will be more "early next week". So I returned to there earlier today (Tuesday) to see if she had it in stock. Again, it was still sold out. About five minutes after I left the store, I changed my mind to buy a similar foundation so I don't have to come back again. Then I went back in and ask the lady to give me "whichever foundation in that category." And she said something that I still can't believe until this moment. She said she won't sell me anything because I just want the package. Because I had been very persistent about that particular foundation but then I said "whichever foundation in that category", she just assumed that I would never use the foundation. I would just return the foundation later and keep the package. To make things worse, she was talking VERY VERY loud. There were a couple also at the stand. When she said those things, that couple and some store staff nearby all looked at me like I was doing something horrible. She basically called me a lair or a fraud in front of everybody. I saw a good deal (which Macy's initially sent to me), went to the store, but came back home as an empty-handed lair. So, this is just the worst experience I've ever had in any kind of stores.
