Not sure what is going on at our Macys, but I was there shopping with my husband, and did not get one bit of help, wandering around the Mens Department is just self service. You will have to search out a place to pay. I had questions about sizing etc, so sad, could have spent more money but needed help. No attendant at fitting room either. read more

I still do not understand why people shop here at Macy's. Out of all the other major department stores, I feel like Macy's is my least favorite; theres nothing ever that I want to buy. Even if Macy's sells the same products as other leading department stores like Nordies or Bloomingdales, the presentation at Macy's is very lacking and like it doesnt make me want to buy them which is one of the biggest reasons why I dont shop here. Being stuck in Hilo, I feel like theres nowhere to shop. I hardly shop here. I go home every month so I just wait. But why do I come to Macy's? Only one reason. I come for MAC. I use their brow pencil & some lipsticks and what do you do when you run out? You panic and you run to Macy's because you have no choice. Honestly though, I have never bought anything else in Macy's before besides my MAC brow pencils. We were on a business/pleasure overnighter in Hilo, and my spouse's suitcase handle broke, which is what brought us here. Similar to Queen Kaahumanu Center on Maui, the Prince Kuhio Plaza sports two separate Macy's stores, one for women, the other for men/children/home, one of them probably the former home of a shuttered JC Penney. The single level men's store was clean, well-stocked, and organized. My favorite section of any Macy's is the Calvin Klein department. Here, it was pretty limited. The kitchenware selections were quite good. Their salon was still up and running, a total blast from the past for me to see, and oddly operating out of the men's building. They had a nice assortment of luggage, from affordable to exorbitant. We picked out something in middle. Luggage sure is pricey, only to get banged-up and scuffed in transit. SERVICE: Kupo cashed us out. He was friendly, helpful, and extremely patient, helping us utilize the infamous discounts to their max. Thanks, guy! TIP: The restrooms are code locked. Vagrant problems? OVERALL: Appropriate for the market it serves. My favorite location is the Union Square store in San Francisco, which I feel is even better than the flagship Herald Square behemoth in NYC. read more

Yes, I am a Macy's fan. I love the almost year-round sales and most of the merchandises that they offer. I love shopping at Macy's for MAC cosmetics, Perfume, Cologne, kitchen electronics appliances, luggage, shoes, and apparels. I do notice that they don't seem to have too many sales associates on the floor like other big name department stores, but I don't mind really. I don't want sales people hovering over me when I am shopping any way. As long as I can find someone quick to answer my questions when they came up, and so far I always do find them soon enough. Bottom line: a pretty decent department store - not too crazy expensive, pretty good salespeople and sales that give incentive to shop there. The Customer Service definitely gives it a thumbs up from me! read more

Great friendly staff. A much bigger Macy's than the one in Kailua-Kona. Separate women store from the men's. As hard as I looked I just couldn't find anything. Hubby bought a pair of Dockers' cargo style shorts. We got an additional ten percent visitor discount. Men's store has a wide selection of island attire. read more

Long over due review before Covid. Purchased several kitchen gadgets on special and their overall quality seemed noticeably much better than average even though they were made in China. I've done a lot worse buying similar Chinese made items from Walmart that didn't last very long. read more

Five stars for Celeste at Michael Kors, Beth and Shayna at Clinique, Desmond at the Mac counter, and pretty much everyone else actually in cosmetics department. They are amazing. The home department is lacking though, the manager will stand around 'coaching' her associates on sales but has never actually has greeted me! Chris in home is their saving grace. I will literally walk my toaster oven/pots and pans/ vacuum/ etc all the way down to her in bedding just so I can get her help, she is awesome. There are two guys in home that are also very nice. Overall because of the employees I mentioned I give Macy's Hilo a five stars. Without them I'd probably have to say a three stars because it's a little small and I usually don't have much luck finding good quality clothes there. I would probably order all my makeup/ purses/ home goods online if it weren't for the associates that I regularly go to, their service makes a world of difference! read more

I am a very big fan of the Home Department and thanks to my Macys Credit Card I have a fully stocked kitchen with shiny new toys for a cooking gal such as myself. I was very surprised to discover that if you shop at the right time and take advantage of the Macy's coupons that clothes here are much cheaper and made of higher quality that Ross, Walmart and Target. To be honest I am disappointed with their Surf and Fitness selections which seem to be growing smaller and the trend section getting bigger. :( BOO!!!! I don't feel there are many savings on Bras as much as I would like but overall I am a loyal Macys shopper and my monthly coupons really help seal the deal. read more

I live in Hawaii and went to Macy's today because they had a Black Friday in July flyer with a great deal on 2-pk frying pan that would be free after a mail in rebate. I was told this wasn't shipped to Hawaii, but you can have it shipped free, only if you have a Macy's charge card! Well, I don't have a Macy's charge card & need to pay $8.00 for shipping! Clothing is limited in Hilo, Macy's being one of the primary staples for clothing. The store is split between two store fronts in the mall. Men's and housewares in one and women's in the other. It's common to see some sections of the store to look nearly empty. It takes a very long time for this store to get stock from the mainland. Men's has a very small big and tall section and shoes are almost non existent in sizes over 13. Staff is friendly and the store is clean for being older, but well maintained. Usually the staff will offer to order in sizes for you to keep your business. read more

Rating is only for the rude service that I received from a MAC employee while trying to schedule an appointment over the phone. I always purchase my cosmetics from Macy's because, unfortunately, there is no Sephora here in Hilo. I have a large collection of MAC and appreciate the quality of their makeup. I thought that it would be nice for my teenage daughter, who is just starting to use cosmetics, to get a makeover at the MAC counter and start her own collection. Today, I called to see if I could schedule an appointment for my daughter to get a makeover done so that we could purchase some MAC products, but was horrified by the attitude of the employee who answered the phone. She rudely said that there were no openings on the day that I inquired about and hung up. She didin't even offer another option or a thank you and goodbye. Just hung up. It was so tacky and sad. Needless to say, I will not be purchasing MAC again. I am very pleased with the service that I get from the Shiseido, Lancome, and Clinique employees. They are always so welcoming and generous with their samples and, because of this, I have been more willing to puchase their products. read more

Billing is a nightmare!Hard to contact any one and get it resolved.My first bill arrived with a late fee of $22.83 for a $20.83 cents charge.Upon trying to contact them immediately on hawaiian time not able to reach a human till the next day .Promptly at 9;09 am the next day my issues began first waiting through the automated responses till i reached a Maria (blank) was put on hold then disconnected.I called back at 9:16 am and talked to Carol she informed me an adjustment of $12.00 had been made and there was nothing further she could do.So, I decided to give them one last attempt to resolve this issue before I wrote this review.At 9:22 am I tried another number listed on line and reached a person named Kevin who found a way to lower the amount and register my complaint about billing and customer service issues.it still cost me .83 cents ,but I finally felt like I had been listened to and understood .So thank Kevin, for me giving Macys another chance.Now to register for online bill pay with them. read more

I have always liked Macy's. I like how they almost always have coupons and specials. But I feel the need to write about this particular trip to Macy's in Hilo. My wife and I just had the most fantastic customer salesperson named Brittany. We were in the store the day after Christmas and there was a major sale going on. We weren't able to find something we wanted and Brittany put in A LOT of extra time with us to get us what we wanted. She helped us put in an online order and even suggested a couple of things she bought herself and a couple sale items she recommended. The recommendations worked and it was a purchase that was well worth it. We just really appreciated all the time that Brittany gave us and it all started with just asking her where the on sale towels were. read more

Communicating with Macy's whenever there is a problem is a nightmare. We purchased items on a special 12 month/no interest offer and one month into the schedule Macy's withdrew the entire amount owing out of our account. We have an 800+ credit rating with no reason for the withdrawal and resolving the issue has been frustrating. The amount was relatively small but it is the issue of Macy's agreeing to something and then not living up to it. We're done with Macy's. read more
