This Macy's is in the Quakerbridge Mall and has both an exterior and interior entrance. The parking lot is a decent size but definitely needs to be repaved. The associates in Shoes and Men's Fragrances were amazing helping me when needed and making recommendations based on what my original asks were. I visited the Quakerbridge store the other day, in search of a cardigan I'd seen on line. The regular size was too long, so I asked a saleslady about petites, and she accompanied me to the section and helped me find the sweater. I didn't think this happened anymore in department stores, especially those that aren't particularly high end. For me, it's best to try on garments so you can feel the fabric and know how it's going to fit, so this was a positive experience. Well done! read more

They had a great selection of all various kinds of lipstick, blush, eyeshadow, etc. I went to look for a new foundation that is especially for my skin, and Anna was above and beyond helpful. She did my makeup excellent. She also empowered me when I talked to her with her empowering words about beauty and confidence. She is awesome. Spoke to Charlie (a supposed supervisor) at customer service. He has advised that when you receive your order and need to exchange a size you have to pay the current price. Really Macy's? You stooped to an all time low! I bought pants on line at $29.75 and used your size chart to determine the size which showed my usual size 4 as a small. When order arrived the size small was way too small. More like a size zero. When going back on line to get an exchange for a medium the price was $41. According to supervisor Charlie I have to pay the new price but he will use the sale price as "a one time curiosity ". One time curiosity?!!! So this means if I order on line and your merchandise is either too big or too small in size I'm out of luck with getting the same price I originally paid?!!!! Your absurd Macy's! Macy's located in the good old Quakerbridge mall. It has 2 floors to it with plenty of cash registers available on site making customer services a lot more enjoyable. Staff is welcoming and helpful. It is fairly easy to navigate around the store. There is never a problem to return an item, customer service desk does a great job assisting with returns and etc. Parking is usually never a problem here but does get busy sometimes. I usually visit the Quakerbridge Mall twice a year whether I need to or not creating a first hand opportunity to witness the marked deterioration in the quality (and necessity) of this real time, retail experience. As the mall anchor, no store is more responsible for this creeping decay than Macy's. Once a proud paragon of middle class aspiration and highly marketable Christmas miracles, this exhausted Amazon fighter looks beaten, bloodied and woefully outdated - more like a wayback journey to 1989 than a visit to a modern merchant. Forget the obvious need for a remodel, the store is just a mess with merchandise strewn everywhere while the few remaining employees appear helpless. I can replicate the same shambolic experience in Marshall's and HomeGoods and save 30% in the process without having to rely on a fading relic who has simply stopped trying. I'll probably miss it when it's gone but rank nostalgia is hardly a reason for being. Santa wept. read more

I tried to return a dress that didn't fit me at all to a worker named Michael Lopez and I have no clue if he knows how to do his job because he refused to return my dress on the strange basis that the receipt attached to the dress does not match the dress's tag and he refused (for some dumb reason) to return the dress with just the tag attached to it. I don't understand this shit because I had returned items without the receipt and with the tag before and nobody had an issue with it. Also, the store is very disorganized. I've always been a fan of Macy's. I'm from another time when going to the mall and heading to Macy's was a place you went to when you just wanted to go shopping for nothing in particular. I have fond memories of going to the Herald Square Macy's for the holidays with my family, especially for the year end holidays like the Thanksgiving Day parade and visiting Santa Claus displays,.... Having been a seasonal employee of Macy's in my college days I can also appreciate the herculean efforts folding, hanging, ringing up customers, routing always-in-a-hurry customers through the various departments etc,..... I may not walk into very many Macy's stores anymore but I do enjoy shopping at this particular one from time to time. Quite frankly, there aren't too many people shopping in this store and my shopping experience all the more enjoyable because of it. Sure the store displays and mannequins haven't evolved much, you're never going to find the latest designer fashions at Macy's but for the basics, the price and quality are still solid. There are some good old school labels available and I don't generally have any trouble finding my size in the Men's department. It's a shame that Macy's hasn't exactly evolved as the needs of the next generation of customers has and lost their once great following might be permanently lost. I do hope Macy's as a whole, hangs around if only for the nostalgia of my younger days. It's been a long time since I visited a department store at the mall. Amazon is killing it, however, with Mother's Day approaching my mother likes a good old fashion gift card to Macy's which she still holds in highest regards as THE department for perfume and make up. Macy's always feels & smells the same since as long as I can remember and this Macy's is the one I came too every year at Christmas growing up. I couldn't help but think how these overpriced bedazzled flip flops and Coach purses still have primo floor space. There's always at least an outfit on a display that I think to myself "oh there's wear ugly weird shirt come from" that you see people in Hamilton out and about in. I headed to the clearance section or as my mother would say "Clarence" to see if I couldn't find some 2x work out pants. Surprisedly, I found two pair, one of which was only $8. The racks were pretty unorganized, which is fine when things are 70% BUT I can't be sorting thru every size on every rack. Ended up with 5 clearance items for $65 plus the $50 gift card. Check out was awful, I felt like I lost of my life waiting, and it wasn't busy at all. read more

One old department store chain is basically like any other, and the malls that house them are relics of a bygone era when a mall was the replacement for Main Street, USA shopping. This Macy's is no better nor worse than any other I have visited over the past decade, but it is one of the more convenient shops when I need to touch and feel before purchase. Quakerbridge Mall has been renovated, but Macy's has not. It has the same departments, in the same locations, as always, which is not necessarily a bad thing if you know what you are looking for. This day took me downstairs to the Men's Department for sweaters now that the weather was finally suggestive of Winter. I rode the elevator down shortly after opening, and found the area in a bit of disarray. It appeared that there had been a midnight raid and a lot of the merchandise was out of place and picked through. Perhaps, it had not been reorganized after closing yesterday. Still, I found the cold season wear and was able to pull out a zipper cardigan, traditional 6 button cardigan and a comfortable zippered hoodie in a few minutes. Everything was marked down at least 65%, with additional discounts available at the register. I ended up with the 3 items about 80% off the original price. If I had been a day earlier, I might have made it to an 85% reduction. I was very satisfied with the selection, quality and price. When you need to try things on or pick the things that look most attractive, a visit to such stores can't be beat. It is so much easier for me than online shopping, shipping and returns. Call me a dinosaur, but I still enjoy the occasional excursion to Jurassic Park. read more

Boy, a lot of people hating on Macy's! Not quite sure why, this place doesn't seem so bad. That being said, I am NOT anything remotely resembling what you'd call a shopper, so take my opinion with a grain of salt. My entire review is based on the men's department. They had a killer sale on suits going on, and I was in desperate need of one or two. I could've taken advantage of the savings from the convenience of my home online, but seeing as I hadn't bought a new suit in over half a decade, I decided I probably ought to be properly fitted. Good thing I did, my estimate was not correct. A sales man quickly sized me up an put me in a nice 46 R then brought me over to the star of the department, a tailor named Thomas. He didn't even get me up on the stand. Told the salesman to go get me a 44 L in any color and went back to work while he waited for him to find one and for me to get changed. The man knows his business. *I* thought it fit me like a glove and would've gladly worn it off the rack, but he suggested a few minor alterations. Again, he was right. When I went back to pick the suits up this week, they look even better on me. Thomas' expertise, professionalism and sense of humor bumped this place up from a three to a four star experience for me. Look, I'm not going to gloss over things here. Retail shopping in major chain stores today ain't what it used to be. Yes, sometimes it is difficult to find help. Yes, there won't be the inventory that you can find online, but sometimes you just want, or NEED to see the merchandise or have a professional's feedback. If you do, you could do far worse than Macy's. And if you're looking for an amazing tailor to do some alterations, ask for Thomas by name. You won't be disappointed. read more

It's interesting that Macy's has so many haters, and I would venture to say that they've all spent more time in the store than yours truly, the reluctant retail shopper. But I for one am a fan. I can't compare this with other locations as I've only been to a few and that was some time ago. I find the customer service to be good, for instance just yesterday a nice gentleman by the name of Giusepe gave me a 20% off coupon because I didn't have one. And this was not the only time this has happened. I came for some essential clothing items and found what I wanted cheaper than I expected, then discounted further. It is true that in some departments it is hard to find a open register at slow times. I circumvent this by taking notice of which ones are open as I shop. For the most part I feel that they carry a good selection of men's brands, and you can get good deals on them much of the time. I also like the housewares they carry and have gotten many good quality gifts here. So I'm a big fan of the Macy's flagship store in Manhattan. I've always been treated with respect there, even early in my transition. However I will never go into this Macy's store after the transphobic experience I had with them. I tried to buy a men's wallet in my work clothes. Men's pants, shirt, shoes, hat. Post-top-surgery. I am very obviously *not* a woman. While I'm waiting to be rung up(there's no one else in that section. At all) the sales clerk finally finish his conversation with his co-worker, and asks me, "Is that everything for you, *ma'am*?" I had to endure his agonizingly slow checkout before I could finally leave. I will not subject myself to the harassment by the country bumpkins of this store again and will stick with the Herald Square location instead. read more

Generally okay but can get VERY messy and disorganized. Staff is hit or miss; some have pride in their work (for example the tall redhead in accessories who has been working at Macy's for over 35 years!), while others seem to resent both the customers and Macy's itself. Always double check their math on EVERYTHING: change received, sale price given, rewards earned. If you have a Macy's VISA credit card and pay your bill in the store, TRIPLE CHECK that the associate has applied your payment to the correct "half" of the card. For example, if you intend to put a $50 payment on the VISA, as opposed to the actual Macy's portion, double check that the associate applied the payment correctly. Reversing an error such as this is easy; you just want to catch it quickly. I worked at this Macy's for about 2 year during college. They treat their employees rather poorly, and consequently have a very high turnover rate; this means that there are a lot of "noobs" who don't know their stuff as well as you might like. A word to the wise: purchases of over $1,000 will crash the register and cause the whole transaction to disappear. Managers have to override this and then re-scan everything. During training the associates are NOT told about this; I had it happen to me twice, back-to-back, with the same couple because I did not realize that their extremely large purchase was causing the equipment malfunction. Macy' runs many sales every week. Be SURE to read the fine point on your coupons, as there are often lengthy lists of non-eligible items. Also, the maternity section NEVER goes on sale because it's actually a different company. MotherHood rents space from Macy' s but is a separate entity and do not participate in Macy's sales events. When in doubt, check the signage: you'll notice that the MotherHood section NEVER has those red-and-white sales signs that go on top of the clothing rack. You've been warned. Also- and I know this should go without saying, but whatever- don't bother trying to shop or make returns here on the day after Christmas. The store is a ZOO and you will have to wait in line until you're too old to leave the store without a wheelchair. :) read more

I was trying to check out one item before I left the store and all other registers were occupied so I walk up to the women's shoe department register only to be turned away by an Asian gentleman who was more concerned with the fact that my article of clothing did not fit into his commission. I found that very upsetting. Only after I informed him that I worked for Macy's was he finally willing to help me but I declined his help because regardless if I worked at Macy's or not customer service is something you sign up for in the retail industry he really disgusted me with how quick he was to turn me away it's really a shame with all the bad going on in the world you'd expect people to be better. Macy's is one of four department stores in the Quackerbridge Mall. It is my second choice after Lord and Taylor for dept. store chopping in the mall. This Macy's location is a smaller location and sometimes has limited staff. Placed an order on Macy's for valentines gift. They messed up by putting random purchases through for amounts I don't know where it came from. They then cancelled those orders but it's now in pending because of the screw ups. So I have over $1300 locked out in my account from purchases I never made. On top of it because they did this, the 4th time they tried to put it through my card declined. So now I have to have the bank involved to try to allow access to my money so I can buy groceries and gifts for Valentine's Day. I've learned to automatically throw away all Macy's coupons and promotions, and to ignore all flyers and "sales." After three attempts to use one of those "20 % off everything" coupons, I learned to look at the back and saw that it actually excluded everything. The small print was so small that it would need a microscope to read. Their discount coupons are deceptive. Shopping there during the day during the week isn't too bad because it's quite empty. This assumes that you don't mind paying more than you would at other stores. Just don't be fooled by the fake "sales" that happen every weekend. read more

I recently went to Macy's Men's Department in Quakerbridge Mall on a Friday evening to buy my Son a suit for a wedding. The salesman (I don't recall his name) measured him picked out a jacket and pants and sent us in the back to the Tailor Thomas. He came out of the back room seemingly annoyed, like we were bothering him to do his job. The first thing out of his mouth is "This jacket is too big, YOU go tell HIM that HE needs to do HIS job and find you a smaller size!" Isn't that what Macy's pays him to do? I got the impression that he and the salesman didn't get along and me and my Son were in the middle of it. So for my Son's sake I bit my tongue and I had to ask the salesman to find us a smaller size jacket, then he tells us, see this crease in the side, this is too small, they were contradicting each other. My Son and I wound up looking for our own suit with little or no help from the salesman who was also working the register in between finding suits. After we found a smaller size jacket, I knocked on the backroom door for Thomas to come out and do his job and I could see through the window in the door that he appeared annoyed that I was knocking on the door. Again, he snaps at me "whos wallet and phone are on MY work table? Please remove them, that's where I work!" So I again, bit my tongue and took my Son's wallet and phone off of Thomas' table. I would have walked out of there by now, but for my Son's sake I tried to be patient and get it done. I found Thomas to be arrogant, snippy and condescending to me and my Son. THEN, after an hour and a half of wasting our time doing their jobs and finding the right size jacket and pants, I see Thomas leave the back room and walk out, I assumed he was going to the restroom, 10 minutes later, I asked the salesman where Thomas was and he said he left for his dinner break and would be back in 2 hours!!!! He knew my Son was standing there in the suit waiting to be measured for a fitting AND JUST WALKED RIGHT PASSED US, NEVER SAYING A WORD AND LEFT FOR 2 HOURS!! My Son and I wasted 1.5 hour trying to get a suit at Macy's and got so annoyed at the in-fighting, unprofessional, condescending attitudes of the salesman and Thomas that we just left! I would never give my money to a company that tolerates this kind of customer service! Macy's lost a potential sale of over $400.00 and a future customer, I won't be back there for a suit ever again! read more

I normally go into Macys for the cosmetics section and shoes department, but I was in need of a dress for a dinner party and went for it. The clothing section was a mess! I was so overwhelmed by the displays, It was just extremely tight in between the racks and not very neat. The fitting rooms were filled with clothes on the benches and some on the floor. I had a really unpleasant experience with one of their cashiers in Mens clothing. I returned an overcoat that I had worn a couple times but ultimately decided was not a good fit. The cashier seemed very pissed that I had worn the coat a few times, though he did begrudgingly accept the return. I would have been fine with say a small restocking fee to brush it up before putting it back on the rack, but the coat really was perfectly fine. In fact, I liked the coat quite a lot - he could easily have sold me on a similar coat right then and there. Unfortunately, the whole return experience left me with a bad taste in my mouth and I decided not to continue shopping at Macy's that day. read more
