Hadn't been in a Macy's in years. But I needed a new shirt for an upcoming wedding and after striking out at a place next to them I wondered in. Right away I was impressed with how clean and neat all the displays where. When I looked at a sign saying a size that is what was in that bin or rack. You may call that a small thing but I call it a HUGE deal. I don't want to dig through piles looking for my size. I went in looking for ONE shirt. I left with five shirt and three pairs of pants. THIS PLACE is now my go to for all things clothing. There might be a cheaper place a mile down the road but the quality isn't there and I don't have all day to shop for an item. I bought all this stuff on my lunch break with time to spare. :-) read more

Waitied fifteen minutes at the Benefit Make Up counter and was looked over by a few sales assoicates. One even left for break or lunch without even so much as asking if I had been helped. I would think in this economy that a department store would try and offer service that meets or beats expectations. We went shopping for a new bed today and had excellent service from Roberta in the furniture department. We originally waited around for a few minutes before she came over (usually your swarmed by sales people in furniture departments) but she later mentioned that they were very short handed that day. Roberta was friendly, honest, knowledgeable and not the slightest pushy. Can't wait to sleep on our new king size bed next week!! read more

I would not recommend coming to the Macy's Coddingtown handbag department when purchasing fine handbags & accessories unless you want to just run in, buy, and get out. Yes, Macy's occasionally has great sales but unfortunately most (not all) of their sales associates seem to be too sales-driven and a bit unprofessional. If you deal when them briefly they are very pleasant, but on trips where I need assistance I usually feel forced into buying a purse in order to avoid feeling awkward for not giving that person a sale. Also, many of their sales associates do not know much about purses, materials, and/or their designers. And the other Macy's in Santa Rosa Plaza only has a couple sales ladies who are fabulous to deal with in the handbag department. If you aren't lucky enough to deal with them, I'd say it's worth the 30-45 min drive to the handbag department at Nordstrom in Corte Madera to be able to have a decent shopping experience. read more

DO NOT GET SUCKED INTO A MACY's CREDIT CARD ACCOUNT - We made the mistake of getting sucked into an account when buying new furniture here. The sales person was quite nice and helpful, but when ringing up the sale for their 0% offer, put it through in a way that resulted in interest charges. We have had 2 months of calls to their "customer service" departments with no real results. Long hold times and disconnected calls seems to be their M.O. Just when you finally think you have someone that can fix the problem, you get disconnected and have to start all over. DAMAGE TO OUR CREDIT. WASTE OF OUR TIME. I love Macy's. One top reason is their return policy, they are very good about returns. If I buy something and change my mind I am confidant that they'll take it back with out any guilt trips. I always save my receipts and am reasonable about it but I don't have to feel like you do returning something to a small store or even a big store, where they try to steer you towards exchange or store credit.... I'm not a moron, I know when I need to return something and get my money back. If I'm treated with ease, I will definitely shop at a store again, and that's VERY important to me. My one criticism of Macy's is that their bathrooms are abysmal. But this is true of amazingly many bussines. They must all clean up their act when there's an official inspection or something. When a bathroom smells all the time that's bad. Is the health dept on the take or something? I think their merchandise is pretty good as far as selection, their employees are always pleasant, and they don't dawg you incessantly. I hate when store's employees ask you a dozen times "can I help you?" Some places watch you like a hawk - I assume watching to see if your stealing-or- they hard sell you. Macy's doesn't do that, so I can go and just look around, which I do sometimes just to wind down! I've bought a lot of stuff at Macy's; I'd be afraid to know the real number. It's also very neat. This review is related to Macys.com. I ordered a women's coat in time for Macy's to say that "If ordered by Dec 21, 2016, it would be delivered before Christmas." Today is Christmas day and it has not arrived! Just in case, I ordered 3 other jackets afterwards from Nordstoms, Eddie Bauer & JC Penny's. All arrived by the 24th. JC Pennys had the speediest delivery overnight. All were "in stock." I will never order anything from Macys.com again! I am very disappointed as they promised it would arrive on time. I am very difficult to fit! Macy's carries a brand of jeans that do fit me well. I braved a trip to the Mall...:) as some friend's had given me a Gift Card and I wanted to get more jeans! Wow! I hit it JACKPOT! These fairly expensive jeans were one of the Today only Savings! I didn't know this:) Oddly almost 70% off! Sure, I get lots of offers from Macy's which openly competes on-line with local Brick N Mortar Macy's stores. I always try to get anything from the Brick and Mortars because they employ so many people. It is more important now because of the Fires up here. Every time I go to this 'somewhat tired' location I meet the most helpful, professional people. Don't know what Corporate is planning for this Store at an older Mall, but suspect something is up! This time it was a bit comedic. I never want to ask anyone in Retail to take down or 'undress' a mannequin in the middle of a sale to get a scan code...but two helpful Salespeople said I had to because it was a size that is not well stocked and I should try them on first as Manufacturer's can change. They have a Mannequin Department for this. It was hilarious as these two helpful women 'fought' with this mannequin which was too heavy to carry to the scanner several feet away. They were determined to help me in-spite of how busy the store was. I felt like I was a 'pain', but the laughter they were trying to conceal turned what might have been awkward into such a Happy experience. When I finally got to the Register, a helpful person named Dalia, who really knew her stuff, helped me to get the other colors and washes I wanted. For the most part, the the people who work at this location are trained professionals. They are very willing to help in anyway they can. read more

I love the home department because I was getting some towls and one of the lady's helped me decide a towl for me to use. I told her that I used Walmart towls but she told me and prove me that the towls were much better. It amazes me because the towls are actually great I got the hotel collection because she recommend me them and they're wonderful and at affordable price. My original post was not to buy furniture from Macys. I have changed my mind. They made good on their product. My original table was discontinued so I was able to pick out a new table and I am quite happy. So my beef should have been with the warranty company not Macy's. Do not buy furniture from Macy's and if you do do not purchase the extended warranty! I bought a dining room table a little over a year ago. The UV finish started to come off. I call in to have it checked out. three months later the tech shows up to take photos and tells me he can't fix it. Today I got an email stating because I used a table cloth they would not fix the table. I called Macy's to see if they stand behind their product and they were not willing to help me. I am disputing this further...So in the meantime $1200.00 was wasted between the cost of the table, taxes, delivery and a warranty all because I used a table cloth on a dining room table....Macy's you suck! read more

I was promised my refund within 14 days if I purchased my new mattress. Cash. As I was due a refund because the mattress we had was under warranty and it failed we were supposed to go and pick out a mattress of the same quality and price $2300 After two days they call and say they don't have one so we have to send ours back once they receive it they will send a check in 14 days. They got the mattress back in December 2015 This is March 18th 2016 and all I've had is lies and more lies. This review is for the FURNITURE department at the Coddingtown Macys. Natalie is AMAZING!! She went above and beyond in helping my husband and I select a new sectional for our family room and we could not be happier. She was so incredibly patient with us, me especially, as we worked to select the best fabric for our room and was happy to take large fabric samples to different light, drape across furniture, natural light over by the windows, outside, anywhere we wanted in the furniture department. to ensure we were satisfied with our selection. She did not force us into any decision, and actually encouraged us to take swatches home and compare them with our home decor as she wrote up sales checks to send our way for more information. She was so laid back, helpful, and not pushy at all. I couldn't wait to get back in and work with Natalie on our final selection! She also helped us get the best sale price she could and helped us feel so at ease with our purchase. I made an appointment over the phone to get my makeup done (bridal look) since I knew I wanted to stock up on MAC products for the big day (I plan on doing it myself - eek). The customer service I received over the phone was super helpful and friendly. Purchase $60 dollars worth of products and you can have your makeup done! I've never actually had my full face done at a mall makeup counter, so I was really excited. I showed up exactly at my appointment time and was immediately greeted by an employee behind the counter, who then helped sit me down and get my makeup artist. Up came Ashtyn, who politely greeted me, gave me a brief rundown and asked about my needs. She figured out my skin type, looked at my notes and gathered up her tools. Throughout the session, Ashtyn was great at letting me know which product she was using and some of her tips. Throughout the session she was great to talk to and would periodically walk away to help other guests, but always let me know where she was going and was very polite. I think I was there for up to an hour and half. It was really relaxing (I love getting pampered). At the end I looked fabulous and she helped me gather up all the items I wanted to purchase. The whole experience was awesome and by reading some of the other reviews on here, I got the expert makeup artist. Lots of thumbs up :) read more

I do not like this particular store. it has such a small selection and the clerks are not very helpful at all. This has happen more than once with several clerks. I felt like I was asking for too much and I felt like they did not really want to help me. Sometimes it is even hard to have someone help me at all, to find someone in the department that I was shopping. Overall it is not very welcoming to shop here. It doesn't even deserve one star! HORRIBLE customer service...literally non existent. I went shopping with my mom to pick out some new bowls. We had to practically beg the only available girl to help us who was standing there doing absolutely nothing but picking at her nails (the other two women were helping customers make purchases). We asked about some bowls that only had a display but no boxes to purchase. After she wouldn't even check the inventory she Rudely told us they don't sell displays & walked off. I followed her back to her cash register & asked if there was any way we can order it through the store. She pulled it up on the computer & turned her back to us. My Mom really wanted to order them. The girl acted like it was the most inconvenient thing helping us. After purchasing the product without her saying a single word to us, we are on our way out & passing back by the bowls I realized they were on sale which she did not apply to our purchase. I went back & asked her about it & she said we should've told her & NOW she has to call customer service...so she calls & speaking to the people on the other line she keeps saying "yea because these people didn't tell me it was on sale." First of all that is YOUR job to know what's on sale in the store YOU work in & second, if you make a mistake don't blame it on the customer. Long story short, I told her she has no customer services skills & apparently offended her because she stormed off leaving us 1/2 way through another transaction. The manager heard mostly everything...still don't apologize until the cleaning lady had to put her two cents in telling ME, a paying customer, that I have no respect & whatever else she yelled at me (by that point I quit listening.) We got better customer service asking a JCPenny's employee where their restrooms were...this is not the first time we have gotten bad service from this Macys. Needless to say we will never step foot in this store again. Get new employees who are happy to have the job. read more

I bought a dining room set from Macy's that cost about 1700.00 and unfortunately, paid for the 7 year program to protect the set. When a chair broke after about a year, I was not offered a new chair but someone came out and GLUED it. The service man said it was because the back wasn't tightened properly. Now, I am out of the furniture polish and I apparently can't buy it from Macy's, even tho' it is a requirement of the warranty. It should be available on Macy's website for good customer service. But worse than that, no one, when I was buying the set, told me that the warranty was a third party vendor. No one told me that the vendor wouldn't be available through the Macy's furniture department. Third party vendors are notoriously not worried about their customers being satisfied. I am assuming..(.I have been waiting on hold while I wrote this) they will make me buy the entire set of products at an outlandish price when all I need is the minuscule bottle they put in the set.
