A HUGE thank you to the owner Darren for his Act of Human Kindness that made my day. ONE STAR to the repair guy who was beyond rude and surly. He needs a new line of work where treating people with respect doesn't matter. A friend of mine gave me a brand new Singer that she never used. It has been at least 50 yrs since I tried using one. My goal was to make king pillow cases into standard size- seemed reasonable and duable. The 2nd pillow case underway and i lost the bobbin thread-- so I read the manual and took out the bobbin winder holder trying to find the bobbin and it didn't go back in right and snapped off the needle. Dauntless and full of hope I found Mulqueen in the Yelp and was told to come on over- they would be happy to look at it for me. The repair guy grabbed my portable and gave me back parts they didn't need and started getting my info and told me it was $159.00 and 10 days and he had no time or interest in my questions. I told him that it might just be a simple fix and not need a total repair if he could just look. His eyes rolled and said he didn't have time to do that and it would be 10 days. I told him that I thought it was just the bobbin holder that I took out trying to find the missing bobbin- he told me with disdain that I shouldn't have touched the bobbin part. I said- that is pretty obvious now but maybe it isn't a huge repair if he wanted to note that on the repair form. He said it didn't matter that every machine was taken apart and put back together. He was clearly fed up with me especially when I asked if when it was done could someone show me how to drop the bobbin in so I don't do it again. He said- exasperated- YOU JUST DROP IT IN- YOU DON"T TOUCH THE BOBBIN PART- and THEY DON'T GIVE SEWING LESSONS AND THEY DON'T HANDLE SINGER BRAND! I said I don't want a lesson- I just want 5 minutes for someone to show me where the bobbin goes so I don't break it again. He said if the technician had time, they might show me. I said you know- I have cancer and am just trying to fix my pillow cases and your anger isn't helpful. He said full of disdain that he wasn't angry- just trying to explain something he clearly thought I was too stupid to get. I thought about it and told him to give me back my machine and on my way out- I tried to ask one more time if anyone could really help and another employee pointed me to the owner Darren. IT WAS LIKE A DIFFERENT WORLD/EXPERIENCE. I told him I was trying to something I had some control over and fix pillow cases. I said I am happy to pay and what I needed. He said that won't take long at all and he was so understanding and brought me and my machine to his backroom. Without judgment he told me that JoAnn's gave me the wrong size needles and bobbins- He got them for me and checked the bobbin holder and sure enough- it was damaged but he said he was sure they had one and he got one for me and showed me where it was bent. He dropped in the new part. He also said I had the wrong kind of thread and needed sewing machine thread. He got some for me and filled a new bobbin and showed me how to do it and how to drop it in the bobbin holder, he threaded the new needle, He tested the machine and it worked perfectly. He showed me how to get the simple stiches for my pillow cases and how to change the stiches if I wanted a different one (the machine has 75 options) - I just needed to know 2 of them, he smiled and recommended the main one and a couple of options. It took about 20 minutes. I offered to pay the $159- but he said it wasn't a problem- to just pay for the part, bobbins, thread and needles. He even carried my portable out to my car. He wished me the best and let me give him a hug. It made my day and I can't say enough of how much his act of kindness meant to me. AND I got home and thanks to Darren- I made 6 pillowcases from King to Standard. It was a good day.

I'm pretty new to fabric arts but excited about all the future projects! SAS had SO much stuff. All kinds of fabrics from fake fur to satiny-y types. And all the bits to fancy things up, sparkly trim and buttons and things like that.n The staff were friendly to me and helpful and I heard them interacting with others in a friendly way. This was the first time I've ever needed to come to a fabric shop in my 31 yrs of life. Not only…read morewere they not helpful, but when it came time for me to check out I was told to go to another line, cool but I've never been here before and yall let me wonder for 10 minutes without offering help, so I go to the next line and the first thing this girl tells me is that next time I'm in here only water is allowed. I asked her if this was posted anywhere and she said it was. No where was this posted. Not on the door, not next to the cashier no where. I'm a rule follower, the more rules the better in my opinion. Not only does she bark this order at me, but after I tell her I don't see a sign saying no drinks (I had a sealed bottle of Gatorade on a 84 degree day) she says it's there......spend your money elsewhere. I happily went to Michael's and spend over $80 on fabric, just because they treated me like a human and didn't bark orders at me. I'm sorry you hate your job girlie, but it is not my fault. -10 stars DO NOT COME HERE IF YOU SIMPLY WANT FABRIC FOR A CHEAPER PRICE. There are other places with cheaper prices, but if you don't mind spending the extra dollar. Russ at Michael's at Tempe market place was so available and willing to help me, plus he served as a Marine and National Guardsmen for +21 years. Take your money to a place that will treat you well. Not here. So I tried calling the store to ask if I could speak to a manager, a girl named Becky got on the phone, started telling me not to curse at her (I wasn't cursing) then hung up on me. When I tried to call back i was hung up on again. Then the next time I was met with the same hostility. I tried to call another location to get the owners info, and was told that Becky is in fact in charge of all the locations and is the head of Sas. I pray God blesses you and your business Becky in the same way you bless others. Best believe I will tell everyone I know not to shop here.
