Great cheesesteaks and people! We stopped in for a quick lunch after the PEZ Visitor Center and really enjoyed the food. We got a buffalo chicken cheesesteak, which was ok (my bad for ordering the liquid cheddar on it instead of suggested pepper jack), the chipotle cheesesteak, which was great and an OG cheesesteak, which was excellent. Very tasty fries too. The guy we ordered from was really nice and patient - and guided us through the menu. Such a nice family owned business. Can't recommend enough for lunch! read more

This is one of our favorite sandwich shops. My son loves the Big Mac cheesesteak. However, today must have been an off day. It took 40 minutes to get our order and the sandwiches weren't the same. The Big Mac didn't have any of the fixings it normally does and my son was disappointed. We had already gotten home when we realized it. There was only one cook and one person taking the orders. There were about 5-6 customers waiting for their orders. Usually the service is reasonably quick, never more than a 15 min wait for sandwiches. read more

BEST place around to get your money's worth for a juicy Philly cheesesteak! They also offer other sandwiches and delicious salads! When we went the soda machine was down but no biggie, they have Snapple, craft sodas including Dr. brown's and Foxon Park - better than any fountain soda if you ask me!! They have a few tables for dinning in and the staff was super accommodating for my 97 year old grandma, answering any questions we had as well as bringing extra silverware and napkins to make it easier for my grandmother to enjoy her lunch. A small little spot with big flavor! I love supporting small businesses, especially those who truly strive to reach their customers with complete care and courteousness. One of the friendliest establishments I've been to! From walking in the front door I was greeted with warmth and friendly hello's. This isn't a chain so I know that wasn't in their orientation package. I ordered the bomb and a Mac steak, which came out in a jiffy and PIPING HOT!! They were delicious! This was the closest to what I was looking for. Sure the place could use some cosmetic love, but the food stands on its own. Bathrooms were clean. And above all, some of the friendliest folks in CT. This place is great! Don't be fooled when you drive past this place on the post rd. Their sandwiches are flavored very well and are juicy! The staff are friendly. Will answer any questions you have about the menu. The environment is chill and laid back. I've dined in here and never had a bad experience. I just ordered through DoorDash yesterday and the food did not disappoint. I got the chicken cutlet pesto sandwich. Mouth watering pesto and fresh mozzarella with chicken cutlet! The service was very good. Menu has a variety of choices. Prices are definitely reasonable. I got the Mike's Way with peppers and onions. This is basically how a normal cheesesteak should be made in my mind. I do not taste any seasonings added to the meat. There was not as much flavor to the meat as I would have liked. My husband got the bacon jalapeño and said the same. It was flavorful with the added vege's, cheese etc, however the steak flavor was lacking some. I am generally not in this area but I will stop here again to try one of their salads or a philly chicken. read more

The best cheesesteaks outside of Philly!! These cheesesteaks are outrageous! The meat is very high quality and the bun/roll is delicious! I'd love to know where they get this bread. The Steak Bomb has a bit of a kick to it with the hot peppers but it's absolutely delicious. Mike's Way with fried onions and American cheese is another favorite. The French fries are good (best when enjoyed in the restaurant since they do get a little soggy with take out). The buffalo tenders are also spot on! They charge different prices than what is on the menu, when I asked they said we changed the prices months ago but never changed our sign. They were more concerned with watching their kids than the customers, with playpens and trash all around. My Queen accompanied me on this mission & needless to say we were extremely happy patrons. I ordered the steak & cheese without the extra cheese ( don't judge me), and it was the best ever!!! Nice portion of meat but the bread was soft and not soggy from the meat or cheese. The tater tots were good also, crispy and wasn't overcooked. Let me start by saying, hands down, the best cheesesteak I've had in Connecticut thus far. My wife and I visited Mad Mike's when we went to Connecticut this weekend. The service was absolutely stellar, the establishment was clean and appealing. Now, first the bad...the french fries had a bumpy texture to them. For the life of me, I DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO GET FRENCH FRIES RIGHT! DO NOT BATTER THEM!!! You can tell that they have been adulterated even when they're frozen! Don't by from wholesalers who sell french fries that are not ABSOLUTEY SMOOTH ALL OVER! PERIOD! Regular fries like Five Guys or even White Castle french fries have a smooth texture and can yet STILL be crispy and creamy AT THE SAME TIME. Whatever desecration restaurants are performing on potatoes leave them bumpy and chewy, EVEN IF THEYRE HOT! Trust me, if you don't want your cheeseburger or cheesesteak game jacked up, DO NOT GET THE FRIES (from this or any other establishment that have this sacrilegious practice). Now for the ABSOLUTE GOODNESS! I purchased the Mike's Way cheesesteak (steak with grilled onions and extra American cheese), but I got extra meat, bacon, and diced raw Vidalia onion, topped with ketchup and mustard). I opened its wrapping in the car just to see what I would be in store for later. My heart skipped 3 beats! When I did eat it a couple of hours later, I heated it for about 2 minutes in the air fryer which gave the bread a slight toasting, yet still left it soft. Then I microwaved it for about 1 minute. It tasted like it was cooked in Heaven and personally delivered to me by an angel. I gave them 5 stars IN SPITE of the french fry fiasco. Simply put, GET THIS if you love cheesesteaks like I do. Had dinner here tonight, I have been here one other time as well. Both times were very good. I have tried the chicken chipotle sandwich which was good but it could have used a bit more meat, very tasty though. Tonight I had the steak bomb and the cheesesteak egg rolls. Both were very good. The egg rolls come with a horseradish dip that is nice and not too spicy. It's a good size to split between 2 people. The steak bomb sandwich is really good and I suspect is the star of this show. Servings are quite generous here although not ridiculous. Very tasty food altogether. Parking can be tricky behind the building but isn't bad unless it's very busy. Great family run establishment. Awesome sandwiches! Had the chipotle chicken sandwich twice. What I enjoyed was the flavor profile and the nice blending of the chipotle chicken with the house made chipotle aioli and fresh avacodo. The chicken is shredded and not chunky and the bread is always fresh. Unlike other sandwich places where you get raw or partly grilled vegetables stuffed in bread, at Mad Mike's you will get a flavorful bite every time. While waiting for the sandwich, I also read about Mad Mike's story covered by the local news and posted on the wall of the restaurant. It is inspiring to see Mike and his partner make the best out of the situation and opened this place during the pandemic. Excellent place to get a cheesesteak. I used to have to go all the way to Hamden (to that other old cheesesteak place) or ALL the way to Philly to get a "proper" one! Love to have it "Mikes Way" with extra American cheese and sautéed onions. It's been consistently fresh, cheesy, packed each time. Good quality bread too. I have only ordered take out and have never had any issues. Looking forward to trying other items very soon. My only problem is that they close up too early! read more
