Great little find! Definitely a gem in the rough. Simple deli and small Italian market. I ordered the 6 in De Niro and my daughter the tuna - over stuffed rolls of yummy! My daughters tuna was white albacore and she stated one of the best tuna grinders she had. We added a soda and vitamin water and 2 bags of chips- $22 Definitely give this place a try. My second visit this week. Today I had "The Parm" which is eggplant and chicken parm sub. What I like most about this eatery is that they call it's a "Sub" and not a "grinder". One thing I can't change about my speech is my NY Slang of food items. Grinder is a CT thing and that drives me nuts! Rant over. The sandwich was delicious. The sauce is amazing, and I was able to buy a Quart of their sauce to take home. Of course I'll pass it off as my own sauce when I make dinner for the wife, u til she reads this of course My sandwich the other day: Sausage Pepper Onion Parm was also AMAZING which is why I came back today All in all. Went in to order lunch and was assaulted with a TV blaring Fox News. No sandwich is worth that kind of aggravation. For crying out loud, if you own a biz and feel the need to have a TV on, tune it to something non-controversial like Food Network or HGTV. I'll never go here again. read more

I had the DeNiro (fresh mozz, roasted red peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, balsamic + added ham) and he had the Hot Italian Combo (sopressata, capicolla, prosciuttini, pepperoni, salami). Everything was super fresh and worth the stop for lunch, as most places right off 95 are generic fast food joints. So I'm a big sucker for chicken salad, and I must admit this was the first time I had it with green bell pepper. Not only was the green pleasing to the eye, for a usually gray mash up, it also brought a nice fresh crisp to the sandwich. I like what they have done with the place. We stopped here after reading several solid reviews.  Had the "sweet Italian combo" and it did not disapoint.  There are so many Italian delis around CT, but very few make a great combo...This place does! And it may be the best. Generous amounts of fresh Italian cold cuts on real deal seeded bread. We also added the sharp provolone for that little extra bite.  Folks that work here are very friendly and helpful and prices are quite reasonable. Excellent sandwiches; Hot & Cold. They have great chicken cutlet specials daily, so make sure to look at the chalk board behind the register to see "todays sandwich". Decently priced; not to cheap, not too expensive. Fresh salads and ingredients overall. They also have great imported Italian coffee if you make it in for breakfast. My only caveat would be them using balsamic vinegar on their Italian Combo instead of red wine vinegar. It doesn't have that Italian Combo taste im used too. read more

My wife and I were on a trip from NY to Boston and got off the exit looking for another place that we couldn't find when we decided to give this place a shot. Nice little place but the food and the staff were exceptional. We ordered a "Sweet" Italian sub (instead of the "Hot") and were impressed. Not easy to impress us. The bread was a fresh Italian bread with sesame seeds with just the right crustiness for a sandwich. It was absolutely loaded with great Italian cold cuts piled on, and not just one slice of ham and one of salami like other places do. All fresh toppings too;lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, olives,and on and on. We split it between the two of us and couldn't finish it. Definitely worth the trip! read more

I'm forever on the search for real deal authentic Italian deli but I live in a food wasteland and the closest place to me is an hour away. When I came across Provenzano's and saw that it was a mere 45 minutes away I jumped in the car and hit the road. I tried a 6 inch Italian combo (the sweet variety as opposed to the hot or spicy one they also offer) and a 6 inch The Parm (a chicken/eggplant parm combo). Both were very good. The sauce on The Parm was fresh and flavorful. The chicken and eggplant were both above average. The combo was also very good. It was stuffed with 5 meats and I added sharp provolone cheese. Two of the things that really set this place apart for me are the sharp provolone cheese and the bread. The bread comes from Arthur Ave in the Bronx and can stand on its own. While the combo was good I'd have enjoyed a sandwich with less meats even more so because it would allow this excellent bread to shine through even more. As for the cheese, the sharp provolone has always been a favorite of mine as it elevates any Italian style sandwich. If you haven't tried it you're missing out. Long story short-ish, it's safe to say I'll be making this 45 minute drive again as it was well worth it. read more
