Madam Had'em is the biggest rip off of all consignment stores i've ever frequented. You should neither consign nor shop there. Owner Cheryl is a liar. She steals your consignments, by giving you false reasons why she isn't returning the unsold items. And her prices are outrageous. Read 'em and weep my receipt says "size 10 Tahari jeans $12". That's right Shopaholics in training, this place has THE BEST bargains for upscale consignment clothing in the state. I can show you evidence of many more bargains that I've gotten there over the years including one of a kind Sigrid Olsen silk tops for 30 bucks, a simple black dress from Isda for $25...I've seen DKNY, Gucci oh and there was that $50 Ralph Lauren black label suit I bought...the list goes on and on. They have a great mark down policy on items that have been there a while. I've also consigned there and made some dough back. They've always been easy to work with. Finally, if you're a size 0 or 2 you're going to have no problem finding designer garb because someone with some expendable income is dropping them off there by the truckloads with the tags still on. This store has the worst selection of consignment clothes and the highest prices of all the consignment stores on the North Shore, and there are several. The owner is exceptionally nasty and untruthful and will say anything to get a sale and over charge. She probably pays to get people to write good reviews to offset all the one star reviews, which are clearly the only genuine ones. Don't shop here. read more

This is a great store, and I've gotten some great finds here. The staff and owner are very helpful, and I've always received very good service here. I don't always find something that suits me, but that's part of the fun of consignment shopping. I love this shop. I first started with Madam Had'em in Marblehead. Got some wonderful things there, that include a leather trench that I get tons of compliments on. It will never go out of style. Yes, it's not inexpensive, but her things are designer quality. And there is always a $5 or $10 rack that I have found gold on. How about $10 for Ferragamo pumps? Love this store and love the owner too. She is a very hard worker. read more

When I took a pair of Ann Taylor used blue pumps to the cash register last fall, the owner told me I owed $30. The price on the box was $25. I asked to look at Hermes scarves. There were no price tags on them. I was quoted over $200 each when my friends told me that they were quoted almost half that price. They make it up as they go along especially if there's a "Sucker" sign posted on your forehead. No reason to shop here nor give them my consignment business. I am very impressed with the great customer service I received. I was visiting Marblehead in August and I tried on a dress in this store. For some reason, I did not purchase it then, but tried to go back the next day and the next, but the store was closed those days. So after I returned home I called the store about 2 weeks later and described the dress as best I remembered over the phone. The lady helping me found the dress and sent me a photo before she sent the dress and I paid for it. I got the dress very quickly and it was indeed the dress I had tried on. I was an out of town customer who had only been in the store once and only wanted one item, but I received top-notch customer service. I can't say that I always get service this great from stores in which I am a regular customer. read more

Do not waste your time with this shop. They are very inflexible and only focused on making money for themselves. Their items are over priced. There are plenty of other consignment shops in the area that are much more focused on the consignee and where your experience will be win win. read more

As someone who consigns, I'd think twice. The system the shop uses for payouts is spotty at best: phone calls are supposed to go out when checks are ready to be picked up. If you dont receive a call, it can be a major time committment to chase down what you are owed, phone calls are rarely returned, the owner claims to be unaware of the problem, and insists it's of little concern to her to worry about individual consigners. The hassle almost outweighs the effort it takes to chase down the check. So with that in mind, I would recommend Modern Millie if you're looking to consign. Their system is spotless and efficient. read more

I stopped in on Saturday with a few friends because there was a sign out front that said "20 % off ALL Summer Clothing". I picked up a light-weight, short-sleeve, ecru colored sweater by Eileen Fischer that still had all tags attached. It had a date on it of May 14th, 2016. Price was $66.00. I asked if it was considered "summer clothing" and was told, "No, I'm sorry it isn't". She then went on to tell me that this "particular sweater retailed for $250-350". Mind you now, it's been in the store for almost 4 months....CERTAINLY all through the SUMMER.....it had NO markdown, and was NOT "part of the summer mark-down sale"....Good LORD then...what IS? Later, one of my friends looked at the tag...retail price ? $138.00 ! AND...the consignor had gotten it on sale, sale price was crossed out.....I worked in a Consignment shop for years....rule of thumb is..you price the items at one THIRD their value. I saw a Michael Kors wallet that probably retailed for $175.00...their price? $110.00 ! No WONDER it wasnt' selling ! Their bags were in the price range of $200 and UP". MOSTLY up. Talk about taking advantage of your location as WELL as your customers. After some prodding, as well as thinking...I have decided to report this shop and it's practices to the Better Business Bureau as well as The Attorney General's office. This was a CLASSIC case of "Bait & Switch" and my only regret is that I didn't read the reviews BEFORE shopping there. I should add that I have sent them a letter as I feel it's only fair to do so in light of my complaint. read more

OMG....I LOVE This store!!! I go in there all the time. I keep getting the best designer clothing at the best bargain prices!!!! They also have the best designer handbags and shoes on the north shore. I don't shop overpriced big department stores anymore because I've gotten spoiled getting all my clothes at unbelievable bargain prices at this store. I also have consigned my clothes , shoes and handbags that I don't want anymore and they have been really great with selling my stuff too. read more

Madam Had'em is by far the best consignment store in the North Shore. They carry a line of upscale consignment which is forever changing and moving. There is a wide range of sizes and styles. The staff is attentive to the individuals needs. I was able to find a dress to wear to my son's wedding! Along with the dress I found a few other great pieces. read more

Worst Experience Ever! I should have heeded all of the negative reviews posted online prior to bringing my own items to Madam Had'em. I brought in a few high-end items thinking I would get a fair price for them, instead I got swindled. The owner Cheryl, was rude, dishonest and belligerent to say the least. I still can't fathom how the sale of a $450.00 new leather jacket resulted in a $20.00 store credit. Clearly, she makes up the rules as she goes along. I've always loved this historic area of Marblehead for its quaint boutiques and cute coffee shops, always bringing visiting family and friends. This unfortunate experience at Madam Had'em has now dissuaded me from venturing to this area in the off chance I run in to Cheryl or hear her screaming voice coming from the shop. As stated in previous review, I urge anyone to think twice before shopping or bringing your items here for consignment. read more
