I came here to pick up some lump charcoal for my new Akorn Jr. Kamado Grill - it's Saturday and this place is practically standing room only and everywhere I look there is member of the staff either helping someone or greeting any that walks through the doors. I must have gotten a good morning welcome to Ace a dozen times. The grill accessories are front and center about thirty feet from the entrance and the is an impressive variety of grilling supplies - I'm a man so of course I had to do some window shopping even though the lump charcoal was neatly stacked directly in front of me, what could of been a two minute visit turned into twenty. I had several people recommend B & B Texas Style Oak Lump Charcoal over time so after looking online and seeing that it was in stock here I decided to make a trip to grab a twenty pound bag since it is the closes Ace Hardware to my home. Like others have stated the store seems a bit disorganized but with all the help on the floor I doubt it would be difficult to locate anything they stock. So why only 4-stars, well the checkout process although extremely friendly and staffed by two cashiers was extremely slow - I think I was 6-8 people back when I lined up and it took quite sometime to pay for the one item and get on my way. Would not recommend Ace if you're not sure if your buying the right product. They will not honor your return if it was ever so slightly used to see if it works. read more

I recently purchased an item online to pick up in the store. I brought the item home and then when I went to use it I realized that an item in the package was missing. Come to find out a person had recently returned the item & the employees did not check the package to make sure all the items were in there. They would only issue a store credit refund and the cashier would not help order the special order item. I tried to call when I got home to see if someone would help and the employee rudley told me I had to come into the store. Now I am trying to go to a different Madden Store to see if I can get a replacement for the item I ordered, and this was more of a hassle than I expected for something that was not my fault because the employees failed to do their job. Best experience at a hardware store ever! They are so good at customer service, John has helped me find everything I needed and I didn't even have to ask for help, they offer it themselves. So many times I went to other stores and ask for help, but the staff had no idea where their product was, nor they were willing to help you find anything. My dog had a terrible reaction to the Sentry product. The 800 number told me to take it back and show them the case number and that it would not be a problem to get a refund. Dave the manager was rude, uncaring and highly disrespectful. A total jerk. He just lost a customer and didn't give me a refund. Grabbed the package and said I could only have store credit. I have been shopping there as I have been remodeling a house. He treated me like a piece of shit over a $10 product. Shame on you Dave the manager. You are a disgrace to this company. So, this Ace helped me with a problem that was in my opinion both our faults. They cut glass for me but I was unsure of how much to add for the glazing strip. We made a decision and the glass was a little too small. They reluctantly recut the glass for me, but they did do it without an additional charge. I have been going to this store for years. Great help with all departments and great knowledge on what you need.

So we had an issue with a custom order a few weeks ago. Normally they are final sale but one of the employees made an error on the order. I'm sure it wasn't intentional and it was so small but with the product we bought every millimeter counts. When we came in Todd took care of us. He made sure we got exactly what we needed. First go to the Big Orange Box. Leave frustrated and empty-handed. Then go to the Big Blue Box. Leave even more frustrated but with an overpriced screwdriver you didn't need. Then go to Maddens - Plenty of friendly knowledgeable help - plenty of inventory - amazing prices and yes, you can PARK RIGHT IN FRONT! Easy in, easy out, back to work with a smile because the checkout folks are personable, efficient and best of all genuinely friendly! Lots to look at in store as well - they carry stuff no one else does -you will be surprised. As s property manager and a realtor when I go to the hardware store I need solutions not excuses and these folks constantly and consistently always give me the solution! I love that I'm always genuinely greeted and don't have to wait around 20 minutes just for someone to help me. This is a really nice hardware store with plenty of good merchandise at a reasonable price with very helpful employees. It's fairly close to home so many times will go there rather than Home Depot as the prices are pretty comparable. read more

Normally I love Ace Hardware stores - usually they have lots of unique things that you don't find other places. This store isn't that large but still has a reasonable variety and selection. The problem(s) I have with it are that it's hard to shop there because you are constantly being asked by an associate if they can help you! I know, an odd thing to complain about since at the big box hardware stores you can't find anyone to save your life BUT...this store seems to overcompensate to the point where it can be annoying. Both times I have been there they have excess personnel standing around, often blocking the aisles, and asking every 30 seconds if you need help. Ironically I noticed a "help wanted" sign on the door. It just makes me wonder how the store can be cost-effective with so many employees. Also ironically, both times I have been to the store the restroom is just about out of TP, with no extras in sight. I always think "sheesh...can't one of these many extra employees check that more often?, can't they afford to leave an extra on hand? "!! Lastly...their return policy is not customer-friendly - 30 days to return or store credit only. read more
