A very unassuming place on the West side of Little Rock in a small strip of restaurants, is truly a gem for food and service. Funny, but right next door is a place that bills itself as great Cajun/Creole food, but the menu here easily showed itself as a great, if not better, option. We just stopped in for drinks, which they have an abundance of specialty cocktails that appear to change frequently on the blackboard, and really enjoyed them. So we wound up chatting with the friendly barkeep about the menu. He encouraged us to try the crab dip, and oh my, we are so glad he did! It is a very rich appetizer, but absolutely one of the best we've ever had. We are sorry that we had other commitments the evening we swung by, because as we saw other diners meals arriving, we knew we were missing something special. Next time for sure!!! read more

I saw tons of good reviews about this place on Google, especially about the shrimp and grits that they serve and decided to try it for myself. The shrimp and grits definitely lived up to its hype! I ordered the half order of shrimp and grits, the grits were perfectly made and also came with six of the most juiciest shrimps. The only thing that I would change about this dish is to either make it slightly cheaper, because it was pretty pricey for the small amount of food that you get, or there should be a little bit more grits. Other than that, the meal was great. The waitress that I had was very attentive and professional, she helped me with everything that I needed and was timely when it came to placing the order and serving food. I used to love this restaurant, but last night was one of the worst experiences I've ever had here. My cousin ordered the braised chicken thighs, and they were undercooked and completely unseasoned. The tomato soup was honestly the worst I've ever tasted, and the macaroni and cheese was bland and disappointing. What truly shocked me, though, was our waiter brushing his hair in a mirror right next to the drink station. He even placed his hairbrush beside the drink fountain and returned several times during our meal to groom himself there. That's completely unsanitary, and I'm genuinely considering contacting the health department. The restaurant was nearly empty, and now I understand why. I'm really disappointed -- this used to be one of my favorite places, but the quality and professionalism have gone downhill fast. read more

This restaurant is located just a few miles outside of downtown Little Rock in a trendy little area. I actually rode a scooter from downtown to here. Parking here is simple. You will find a lot across the street with a few spaces. There is also some street parking within a reasonable walking distance. They have a small dining area with tables and bar seating. The place is dimly lit and somewhat intimate. They also have a small patio area out front, that you have to access through the restaurant. The patio has shades to block the sun and is pet friendly. We were seated immediately, but people after us had to wait a bit to be seated. The staff there was very nice. My server was cool. She was a bit slow and not as attentive as I would expect though. They have a wide range of beers and a few signature cocktails. The menu of full of Southern favorites such as grilled shrimp po-boys, fried catfish, andouille sausage po-boy and bread pudding. I was in heaven. I ordered the fried alligator bites with a side of fries. It took about 10 minutes for me to get my food. It was pretty good. I would definitely eat it again. I got a Pink Cadillac cocktail to wash my meal down. It was very savory and sweet, just like I like it. There are not many cajun restaurants in Little Rock. This one of the few. I like this restaurant. This is where the locals go. It has a cool vibe and I enjoyed my meal. I recommend checking this place out. read more

Bummer because I love pasta but the crawfish pasta I had tasted sour :( They swapped it out for shrimp pasta for me, and it was still sour. Maybe it was the sauce, I dunno. Maddie's place is small, friendly, and comfortable. We had grilled shrimp tacos for lunch and bread pudding for dessert. We had 2 large shrimp tacos each. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and the tacos were loaded and very filling. We shared a bread pudding simply because we were too full to eat much more. We were glad that we shared one because it was quite large. It seemed to be made of brown bread and came soaked in a rum sauce. Why isn't this place mobbed?? Nice pours on the wine and spirits. Grilled oysters are excellent. Fried green tomatoes are terrific with a piquant remouladesque sauce that doesn't overpower the tart tomatoes. One suggestion - warm the crab before serving. Gumbo is good. Adding crayfish put it over the top. The shrimp and grits are some of the best we've had. Not only do they use smoked cheddar, the shrimp are grilled instead of sautéed adding a mild charcoal to compliment the smokey cheese. And the andouille sauce is slowly absorbed into the grits culminating in a perfect last bite. Side of greens was delish, using balsamic vinegar added a dimension. Caramelized onions added depth. Both my wife and I decided to go with the fried chicken dinner with the bread pudding for dessert based on all the other reviews and pictures and got our meal to go. I can concur with all of the other reviews that the chicken dinner is superb! The chicken breast has a nice cajun seasoning and fried perfectly with a nice tenderness and good crunch. The sauce that came with it in a cup tasted like a honey hot sauce and went perfectly with the chicken seasonings and tasted great drizzled on top. The mac and cheese was good, well seasoned. The greens were also good, very unique. I've had greens made a lot of different ways in my life and these were a very unique twist because they were sweet. ALMOST a "tad" too sweet but all of the other seasonings in the greens blended together well and tasted good and was unique. The bread pudding was really good but not the best I've had. Felt like it was missing something like nuts or raisins that would REALLY hit it off but otherwise, it was good. Great meal overall! read more

I was a little hesitant when we ordered our appetizers. To our surprise, the food was really delicious! The fried green tomatoes were delicate, and fried well. The lump crab had a good flavor but was luke warm. The dip and homemade pita chips were out of this world good! Just a hint of spice, plenty of creamy flavor with an abundant amount of crab! We finished our visit off with a piece of the pecan pie. The pie looked good, but the top of the pecans were slightly overcooked and the creamy center left a little to be desired. There was only one waitress when we came in but the service was great! Overall, not the worst but nothing we are rushing back to.
