Bobbie D's!! I asked the locals. Where to go. What's a good staple or Little Rock. They sent me here. Right when you walk in. Everyone super nice. Excited to help me. It's cafeteria style. I got beef with a stuff potato. Chicken dumpling soup. Beef was pretty good. But my fav of this was the soup. It was definitely excellent We also got the fried pork chop. Yes !!! So so good. Ok so after church my wife wanted to grab some food from this place. The last three times the food has been weak. I had vowed not to go back but she wanted to give them another try. When she ordered her food the server said they were out of Mac n Cheese then while going through the line they bring out a fresh pan of MAC N CHEESE. She put a burnt piece of regular cornbread on the plate but my wife requested Jalapeno cornbread so what does she get? A burnt up Jalapeno cornbread muffin. Mac n cheese has very little cheese so it tastes like bland noodles, greens are no more than ok. Yams were nothing pleasing to the eye but were pretty good and the dressing was good. I try to visit black owned businesses as much as possible but this was my last time here. We owned a food truck before and would never sent food out like this. Sunday 12/8, I called Bobbie D's to see if they had Chicken & Dumplings. The person who answered the phone said "yes" so I said, "I'm on my way!". This was my birthday and it was reported to rain all day so I drive they at 11:00am. I bought a large container of C&D's, a slice of pound cake and an order of peach cobbler. The dumplings were salty as heck!! Seriously, they couldn't have tasted them, and if they had, they didn't care. The cake and cobbler couldn't be any drier. Southern hospitality! This place was recommended to my adventure buddy and I from another guest staying at our hotel. We were not disappointed! Amazing food, amazingly friendly staff. Best cornbread I have ever had! There are a few different options each day as it's home style cooking. This place is a gem. I love vegetables and I love country cooking and Bobbie D's excels at both. Lunch is served cafeteria style. There is a choice of four meats and 10-12 vegetables. I get the vegetable plate. The mashed potatoes with brown gravy is very flavorful. And the Black Eyed Peas were seasoned perfectly. The collard greens are also excellent, although they weren't chopped finely enough to suit me. Finally, the green beans, which had some potatoes mixed in, reminded me of my childhood. Stopped in about 12:30 on Sunday afternoon. There was a large after church lunch crowd. The staff greeted at the door and told us to take any seat. You then go to the food line a bit like a cafeteria line. Lots of Southern comfort foods. I had the meatloaf, black eyed peas and mashed potatoes. What I was craving! The bomb! They also had stuffed pork chops, fried chicken, and several other main entrees. The server told me that they rotate the menu daily and it has a weekly schedule. She said Monday was Chicken Fried Chicken and Chicken Fried Steak. I will be on top of that. I know they also have BBQ and Catfish on certain days. The sides were great and the staff was wonderful and on top of keeping drink glasses filled. Oh and the restrooms were spotless. They do close at 3:00 pm so go catch a great lunch. Best home cooking you will get in Little Rock. Hamburger steak, jerk chicken, meatloaf, grilled pork loin, chicken and dressing, spaghetti and many other meat options are on the menu daily.
