Went during the ice cream festival and this establishment had a stand. Never had I paid an exorbitant 20+ dollars for one small bowl of super melty ice cream and a soggy waffle before. Just UNACCEPTABLE! I was not informed of the steep price since the menu on the stand never listed the price. I just assumed it was normal (market) price like everywhere else in the festival. Had I known it was that expensive and for trash quality, I would have never bothered. Not to mention the long wait in the scorching sun, god only knows why...they had like zero customers in line which was part of the initial appeal to us. Naively we thought we'd get our order quickly since there was no line. So all that time to make that trash order? And when we complained they didn't even acknowledge or even apologize. I absolutely love it here. I've only been here about 2 or 3 times and each time I get a very pleasant, warm and inviting experience AND it's Black owned!! The cafe itself is very cozy and intimate and the customer service is extremely welcoming which is why I keep coming back. Porterdale is a city that you don't hear much about. Since we were in the area, we're Asian. We wanted boba. After searching on Yelp, we came across Maddlulu. It's in the heart of the city. It's a cute little town. We came and saw girls dressed up in their best in their prom gear with their dates. We realized they were posing in front of Maddlulu. The exterior is definitely IG worthy. You have to step up a few stairs to get inside. It is a cute, cozy place. We all placed our orders but didn't pay until we all got our drinks. We were told that if anyone wanted tapioca boba that it would take longer. The popping boba would be no wait. What I didn't realize is that it's only ONE person doing all the work. We waited about an hour for 7 drinks. I didn't get any boba. I got a coconut smoothie. There were a few misunderstandings and incorrect drinks. Therefore, we waited even longer and that's why it took an hour. Now, regardless of all that, customer service is top notched. Thank goodness, none of us was in a rush but we were just bored at that moment cause of the wait. Plus add little kids with us too. The drinks were very Americanized, meaning it is super sweet. I mean, the effort is there. Again, customer service is great! However, with our Asian tastes buds, we're used to what we have back home. AMAZING! Mango moma on the left and pink lady on the right, the tapioca pearls were fresh warm and chewy, the mango popping boba was fresh and juicy! The flavor of the drinks were SO good, I've had milk teas that tasted like a powder mix, but these tasted like real teas were used! I've only had Boba Tea once before but I'm glad I tried it again at Madd Lulu's Cafe. The service was great and the tea was truly refreshing. She offers twin cups which allow you to try two flavors at the same time. I had the Pink Baby and the Mango Moma. Both were delicious! She also offers a plethora of coffees, teas, and more. I didn't get a chance to experience inside the cafe due to Covid, but from what I can see from the patio, it's quite cute. The front and side patio seating areas are cute as well. The area itself reminds me of a scene out of the movie To Wong Foo with Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo. Overall, I really enjoyed everything. read more

Do not recommend. Drove from a neighboring town to try this. Took them 40 minutes to make me two drinks to go. They kept making drinks for people out of order. I could've driven out to Atlanta or Duluth in the time it took them to make it and gotten a better tasting bubble tea drink. Also, they didn't fill it up and put a lot of ice in it. My drink was bland and husbands drink tasted like they accidentally dumped sugar in it. read more

This review is for the new location in Martin's crossing - The two stars are ONLY because the staff are very polite, understanding and helpful. I've been to the first location many times and wanted to support the new store. I ordered 4 drinks at 4:37 (per the time on my receipt) and did not get my drinks until 5:45/5:50. After over an hour of waiting and asking about the eta of my order, I finally got 2 out of my 4 drinks and one of them (the Fairy special) was not as expected. The drink was watery and flavorless. As I stated before, I've been to the first location many many times so I know how it's supposed to taste. And after being patient for an hour and not getting what I paid for I was pretty disappointed. At this point, I still did not receive all of the items in my order and the drink that I did have was not satisfactory so I asked if I could refund the poorly made drink. The staff at the front were very kind and apologize but as soon as the owner, Wendy heard that I wanted my money back for that one drink, she came from the back of the restaurant and rudely remarked that she "made the drinks" herself and tried to blame me for not liking it by saying "I don't make my drinks sugary, this all natural". Like first of all, I had never mentioned anything about not liking the sugar content in the drink, just that it tasted like a cup of cold sink water. Second, I was very kind to the front staff and they handled the situation appropriately, so there was absolutely no reason for her to berate me. It's really sad that small locations such as these can have such nice staff members and then the owner can come in and completely ruin your experience by being stuck up, unprepared, and unprofessional. 2/10 I would not recommend this place. read more

This is a nice locally and family owned coffe shop. There is indoor and outdoor seating. Nice ambience. The menu has lots of options, from coffee to smoothies to milk teas to boba drinks. The young man working the register had a bit of a hard time taking our 3 drink order. He was finally helped by an older woman and man. Our drink orders came out slowly.....took about 20 minutes. We were in a bit of a rush, so we wish we would have known it was going to take a while. The prices were a bit high (3 small drinks were about $15). We would like to come back another time when we have more time to just sit and enjoy the surroundings. read more

My experience with Maddlulu was disappointing to say the least. I placed an order for 2 frozen drinks and a chicken salad sandwich at 6:08, and I didn't receive my 2nd drink until 7:02 after asking for a refund. I saw customer after customer come and place orders, receive orders, and partake in teas and frozen drinks while my order to a back seat to those orders. Not one time did someone come out and say that we are working with one blender, so we are behind on your orders. I traveled from Conyers to Porterdale to support this business as they came highly recommended. Even though I was given a refund for the 2nd drink, this will definitely be my 1st and last time patronizing this establishment. I expected so much more from Maddlulu. read more
