I was initially scared shitless by the reviews of this place and others in the area enough that I started waxing MYSELF. That peasant shit wasn't going to cut it for an upcoming trip to Bali and I used that as my icebreaker to get this done professionally in Westchester. This place was close enough to my house and tbh GF had already decided we were getting it done here so it was settled. I made an appointment for the day before my flight. Many of the reviews recount horror stories of missing their appointments due to being marginally late so I literally arrived 20 min early to avoid that issue. I wanted to go to CVS but I wasn't about to take any chances. I walked into the place at a socially acceptable five minutes early and the lady at the desk wasn't nearly as scary as others have suggested in prior reviews. I would actually go as far as to say she was a standard amount of friendly. I was pleased to be taken early with essentially no waiting. The girl who did my waxing was very nice as well and chatted me up during the whole thing which helped the time pass. In contrast to my previous wax place, they use this purple hard wax which I rather like. It went very quickly and was minimally painful. The only reason for the four stars is because I did notice some patches that were missed later on but, full disclosure, she gave me an opportunity to evaluate her work before leaving and I trusted everything was good enough. Also, I was ready to GTFO. I'd come back.

After leaving the city for a job in CT, going all the way to NYC for a lash lift became more of hassle, but i continued to go as it was far more affordable than anything in Westchester. I drove past Manuela's studio one day and thought to give it a try, and I'm so glad I did. My first visit, I received a very warm welcome to a very clean and inviting space. Lina sat me right down in a comfortable recliner and took a look at my lashes. She noticed and informed me that my lashes were incredibly dehydrated - as a result of the product my previous lash tech had used - and let me know they would need some rehabilitating. Lina is so well-versed in her craft, she explained to me how certain products aren't good for everyone and that my lashes happened to be very sensitive to that. So she used a different product, and let me know it would take longer than what i'm used to but that i would notice a difference when my lashes were growing out, and i most definitely did. Previously, with my NYC lash tech, my lashes would grow in in all crazy directions, they were starting to get sparse (and i have naturally long and voluminous lashes thanks to nightly castor oil application). In the growing out phase after my visit to Manuela's, my lashes were noticeably more hydrated, and were not growing in all crazy directions, not to mention, the lash lift seemed to last significantly longer. Manuela and Lina are super affable, making the time go by quick. They are dedicated to making sure you are comfortable and well taken care of. The parking is a slight hassle as it is metered parking, but there is a free lot at the church across the street you can park in. If you're like me and didn't put enough time in the meter, they've gone out of their way to put money in the meter on my behalf. Like i said, cannot recommend this place enough for your lash and brow needs!

With a belly full of nerves, armed with some ideas in my head, I arrived at this beautiful little shop. I was graciously greeted by Lina. She listened to my wants and more importantly to what I didn't want. She explained what she was doing and offered comforting reassurance throughout the process. After it was done, I was absolutely in love with the brows. Lina nailed it!! My eyes pop and I definitely do not look tired. I opted for the Full Brow Design, I could not be happier with my choice. I wanted a gray bend to continue to grow my hair out to my natural color after not having any processes done on my hair for 11 months. The person that scheduled my appointment assured me that this could be done and she made it seem that she would be my stylist. When I arrived, a very rude man, Luis, said hello and continued to go about his business, leaving me standing at the door alone for about 5 minutes. When he finally came to help me, I found out that he was doing my hair - news to me. He sat me down in the chair and continued to be rude, asking, "ok, what is it that you want?" I told him and he said, "so color?" I'm sorry, but aren't you the professional?! Why are you asking ME how to achieve what I want?! If I knew, I wouldn't be here!!! Those are just my thoughts as it's happening but I remain poised and reply, "Sure. Do whatever you need to do to get what I want. But I do not want to keep getting my hair processed. I want to grow my hair out to a natural color." He looks confused and somewhat disgusted, to be honest. He takes my hair out of the ponytail and touches my hair as if it's diseased. He then scoffs, "and a haircut." with eyes wide and adds a sarcastic chuckle at the end. Now I feel demeaned and down right embarrassed. I say, "look, if you can't do what I want, then why am I here?" He shrugs. I say, "ok, then, I'm just going to go then". He says, " great. Go." And leaves into the back. Never in my life have I EVER felt this way in a salon! I'm livid, mortified and down right horrified. So I go to the front desk and it is explained to me that the woman who scheduled my appointment is just a receptionist. Cool that's fine. But I query why she made it seem she was my stylist. They have no answers. I ask why it was made known to me that what I wanted could be done when after driving 40 mins to my appointment, I find out that it cannot be done. Again no one has an answer. I am told that a consultation should have been scheduled. I ask why it wasn't. No answer to that either. No offer to make me feel more comfortable. Nothing. Just cold, demeaning responses from everyone in there. I am full APPALLED at how I was treated here today and will NEVER recommend this salon to anyone!
