Meg catered our wedding reception on 6.2.12 and we couldn't have been more thrilled with her work. She was an absolute pleasure to work with leading up to the wedding: flexible, accommodating, and very creative. She is attentive, easygoing, and has a great sense of humor. Our venue didn't have a real kitchen, so Meg converted this side room into a fully-functioning kitchen. It was amazing! She was always out and about throughout the night making sure everything was going smoothly. We had food stations including colorful salads, pizzas, sliders + veggie sliders, and grilled vegetables. We can now enjoy Made by Meg food anytime at her newly opened cafe! The place is cleanly styled and the food is awesome! The seating is limited to 4 bar stools with a small kids table with a couple of stairs. I stopped by the place because of yelp and I'm very thankful. I had an awesome roasted squash salad. Easily 5 stars. The ingredients blended perfectly together. I also had the roasted cauliflower which was just ok. I'm a hard critique on the cauliflower because I think my recipe is the best. Can't wait try come back and try something else. We were hungry and I saw a sign earlier in the day for organic food..Thought why not give this local place a shot..I'm a picky eater who won't waste calorie intake on cruddy food.. Place is obviously set up for catering mostly but a few chairs & would surely take out anytime but must say FOOD WAS TERRIFIC !!!!!!!GREG WAS AT THE GRILL AND THE FOOD WAS FRESH, CLEAN AND VERY FLAVORFUL ..Had the chicken dinner..Moist, ummy veggies..and not loaded down with sauces...The meat sandwich and garlic parsley fries could not be better..DID I SAY I WAS PICKY...YES!! I don't post frequently, but I had to make an exception for this: While visiting friends in Los Angeles recently, I had occasion to experience the culinary delights of Made by Meg while at a party. Wow. I throw parties pretty regularly in my hometown, and there isn't a catering team that can hold a candle to the team Meg has put together. Not only is her food delicious (obviously a must for any caterer), but her staff is the epitome of class and courtesy. Her event manager, Lauren, has obviously been doing this for years (though her looks seem to indicate otherwise), as she dealt with both staff and guest with a deft touch. Her staff is present, but not intrusive, at all times. I don't know if they train them or find them, but kudos on the hiring process. To cap off my luck, I learned that I had arrived during the week of Meg's opening of a kitchen/restaurant in Redondo Beach ... so I had to go check it out the next day. I was amazed to find both Meg and Lauren at the restaurant the next morning! (do they sleep??). Not surprisingly, the food was just as fresh (Meg shared that she visits the farmers market frequently, and builds her menu around what is fresh and available). What a cozy, friendly place she has created. It was healthy, it was fresh, and as I sat at the counter and watched Meg prepare my sandwich I thought, "when can I come back?" Soon, I hope. read more

I would give them double the stars if I could because when it came to my wedding, Made by Meg knocked it right out of the park & them some! Their food is pure art & absolutely delicious. All 130 of my guests cannot stop raving about the food, everything from the appetizers, to dinner to desserts was incredible. The quality of the food was great, portions were perfect & taste was still memorable to this day. I will admit I was slightly nervous because our tasting we had with them was so out of this world good, I worried that maybe it wouldn't be as good on the actual wedding day especially when its 130 guests vs just 2 people. Meg & her team far surpassed any & all expectations I had & truly delivered a masterpiece. I am so thankful I found them. I looked at over 8 caterers in the LA area & they were the most reasonably priced & highest quality of food I had seen. Another reputable company quoted me DOUBLE what Made by Meg did & I am so glad I went with them because they truly amazed all my friends & family. Booked this caterer last minute without a referral but I looked at Yelp and she seemed well liked. BAD decision. She is very nice. However, the food was really boring and uncreative. The delivery guy arrived on time at 1:30 but it took him about 40 minutes to get all the food out (It was a drop off). Half the guests had arrived and were already eating before he'd finished. There should have either been two delivery guys or she should have told us they would need more time. This was all negative, but the really unforgivable part was that of the six items we ordered two had to be assembled!!! I was the hostess and spent ages in the kitchen at the venue finishing the job that they left us with. My silk outfit was ruined from sauces splattering. I am furious that she allowed a drop off of random ingredients which needed about an hour to assemble. Most of that food ended up thrown away as it did not get out to the guests in time. And I was in the kitchen during a large part of the event. She should have helped us select items that fit the drop off definition. I paid $2500 for a caterer who made food worse than I could have prepared and left me with a JOB getting it ready to serve. And my outfit is ruined. What's wrong with this picture??? read more

Catering review- I cannot praise this catering company enough! Everything about Meg is amazing. Best advice from a friend about planning my son's Bar Mitzvah was, "do not skimp on the caterer, people will notice bad food." So I looked around a lot in shock at how much the sit down dinner we wanted was going to cost. A friend recommended Meg only because she walked by her café all the time, Her first estimate was so high that I didn't think it would work to use her. But Meg was patient and sweet and worked hard with us on ways to save money. I think she was about 20% more than other caterers but that isn't even a fair comparison because they were offering carrots and ranch dressing and she was offering white chocolate and brie pillow puffs as an appetizer. She is and was a full service caterer. She organized equipment rentals, picked up the slack when we ended up not having a decorator and her entire staff was polite, respectful, helpful and hard working. The food was beyond delicious and the compliments were effusive from my guests. We could not believe a treasure like Meg exists in the South Bay. We had a chicken dish that was tender and cooked to perfection. The appetizers were to die for- I'm ordering more Brie pillows for home and advice for you- order double, you can't have too many of those around. Meg did not bat an eye when my guest estimate went from 75 to 100, then to 120 when the room holds 100, not when it rained the day of the event eliminating outdoor seating and not when she ended up serving 128 guests, more than RSVP'd! She just did it and was lovely and amazing. These other reviews led me to trust her and I am so glad I did. She was worth every penny and I would recommend her to anyone. read more

If you're looking for a place to grab a bite and into healthy local food, and your wallet is fat, this is the place for you. We got there at 7:30 p.m. and they had already locked the door, but were kind enough to let us in. We ordered sandwiches and a side of brussel sprouts and a side salad. The side salad isn't on the menu but they made one up for me and it was delicious, as were the brussel sprouts. The sandwiches were another matter. The bread seemed slightly stale and the meat was very skimpy. (They only have chicken and some sort of steak.) Even though they appeared to have some spread on them, the sandwiches were very dry. They do not have anything resembling diet drinks and the manager recommended Kombucha, which was interesting but had some sugar and caffeine. The bill came to $40, which is way too high for the amount of food we ordered. read more

I was looking for a good catering company for an upcoming graduation a couple of months ago and found Made by Meg on Yelp. They had a high star rating so I decided to call and ask for a quote. From beginning to end Lauren was professional, friendly, and knowledgeable. She emailed and called me back in a timely manner and her quote was clear, concise, and reasonably priced for a high end catering company. We were also able to hire a bartender through them. Ultimately, hiring Made by Meg was the best decision I made for my party. I met Meg once and she was very pleasant and knowledgeable however most of my interaction was through Lauren. Besides the graduate, Lauren and her staff were the shining star of the party. My experience was similar to having a wedding planner. They went above and beyond catering. From greeting guests to taking gifts, serving food, replenishing drinks, and keeping everything tidy; their service was absolutely impeccable. Chef Meg saved our wedding last spring. I called her three weeks before the wedding because the caterer I'd been working with for several months had still not provided me with a bid or a contract. (He just kept saying he could do things within my budget.) I got a very fast response, and she was, thank God, available. We whipped up a fabulous menu that worked with my budget and venue, and some picky picky eaters I was trying to accommodate. This was a venue with no on-site kitchen facilities, and we were eating outside under the stars. Meg had a great attitude about the whole thing, and was able to rent some kitchen equipment and make things work. She also provided price lists for dishes/equipment and sample menus, so I actually had some idea of what the final cost would be. Her staff was great, the food was great (a year later, guests still mention it to me), and Meg went above and beyond what I'd asked of her. (She even joined the line of guests to throw confetti as we left at the end of the night.) She's definitely both professional and friendly, and I'd hire her again in a heartbeat. read more
