Met my friend for lunch. The atmosphere was cozy for a strip mall, we got a booth. The server was attentive but not pushy. Answered all my questions because I have some food intolerances. I felt the value for the dollar was great for lunch. Lunch came with a light, not oily fried egg roll for my friend and hot and sour soup that was delicious. She got chicken and broccoli and I got shrimp with garlic sauce. Both excellent and enough to take home for dinner. I only gave 4 star because my meal had no heat but had a pepper on the description. They have an extensive gluten free menu as well as their regular menu. I was traveling with 2 people with a gluten allergy and they had no issues after our meal. We had an egg drop soup, Tom yum soup, seaweed salad, pad Thai and the seafood entree. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meal and didn't get sick. read more

We stopped at this place mainly because very few restaurants were open when we were driving through. It was after regular dinner hours and there were a few guys at the bar and no one else in the restaurant. We ordered two appetizers to share: Fried Cheese Wontons (Crab Rangoon) and the Vietnamese Fresh Roll (which came with 2 rolls and Peanut Sauce). The rolls were ok... sauce a little runny, but the crab Rangoon was probably the best we've ever had! They were perfect in taste and texture. For our meals, I ordered the Curry Peanut Sauce with chicken and he ordered the Crispy Honey Twins (jumbo shrimp and tender white meat chicken lightly battered and glazed with a honey white sauce. He was very happy with his and mine was good, but I still was not totally pleased with the peanut sauce. It was all good though. Ordered catering for my wedding (we had to pick it up, no delivery). Didn't not get a box to carry the 6 buffet style containers. Food was DELICIOUS though and worth the price! Ordered 5 pans of food for 15 people and they threw in a pan of white rice, free. Could have fed 25 people with the amount received. Very glad we went with them!! The service staff wasn't overly friendly, but it was enough to get what we needed. We were seated quickly and our drink orders were taken. All our orders came out quickly. We placed our starters - five spice calamari and Vietnamese rolls. The calamari rings were a bit rubbery but the breading was crispy and flavorful. The Vietnamese rolls had shredded lettuce, rice noodles, and shrimp. The missing mint/basil element and the shredded iceberg lettuce were what made this dish a miss for me. For mains we ordered the curry fried rice, general tso chicken and happy family. The portions were large and piping hot. The curry fried rice could have been spiced a little more, but it was mild enough for any palate especially for someone trying to get into the world of curry but afraid. There was a hint of sweetness from the pineapples. Beware, this dish has nuts in it, which gave it an interesting texture. The happy family was subpar. The sauce was cornstarch and soy based which lacked flavor. The only redeeming factor for this dish was the veggies were steamed/cooked perfectly. The Generals Tso chicken was a delight. The white meat chicken nuggets were breaded perfectly and tender. This was our favorite. The chicken and happy family dish came with a side of rice - we opted to try their fried rice - to our dismay- it was rice tossed in oil and soy sauce and called fried rice - my biggest pet peeve. read more

We have eaten here many times before today with great food and service. Today was lousy food and service. Waitress assumed we wanted lunch portion without asking. After food finally came out we corrected her and she took the food back to the kitchen. Upon mentioning this to the manager he had an attitude and tod me we don't have to come eat here if we don't like it. Guess what, we won't be coming back again. Lets see how long you stay in business by telling your guests not to come back instead of apologizing and fixing the problem. (And when the waitress brought our food out she said to make sure we specify whether we want lunch or dinner portions. I told her that she should ask and not assume.) Good riddance! read more

The food at Made In Asia is sub-par at best and is competing with similar Asian restaurants that offer more flavor and variety. The shrimp in my Pad Thai were cooked decently enough, but the whole thing seemed a bit too on the oily side. I would have enjoyed it more if that was toned down and more spice was used to flavor the dish. I suppose if you are passing through the Zion Crossroads, VA area and want something other than fast food burgers, then this can be a doable option, but it would be worth doing a search for better Chinese and Thai within a couple of miles radius. read more

My husband and I had our first visit last week. We were greeted warmly and seated right away. The waitress was friendly and attentive. I had General Tso Chicken. The chicken was big chunks of white meat chicken with a light breading and a sauce with the perfect seasoning of sweat and spicy. I found it to be a huge serving which I took home and fed both my husband and I lunch the next day. I do not remember what my husband had but I do remember he enjoyed it. I have a farm in the area and recently was there on a Monday night. The Italian place I often eat at was closed. I ordered the sweet and sour chicken with a cup of hot tea. There was nothing special about the tea. Also, the side of fried rice was the blandest fried rice I have ever eaten. There was no egg, peas, or other vegetables in it but was simply brown rice. Now for the good part: the curry rice with chicken had minimal flavor and even less chicken. The vegetable lo mein lacked vegetables. Avoid this Louisa/Fluvanna food desert, and drive to Charlottesville for a better selection and higher quality food choices. After nearly 18 months, we've learned a lesson! read more

They definitely have the upper hand being the only Asian restaurant in the area, so the place was pretty busy on a Tuesday evening. Service was super slow, but then again there were only 2 girls waiting on the many tables. I didn't like that the hostess didn't wear a mask the entire shift and still spoke to tables. As for the drink and foods, they definitely don't skimp on the alcohol for cocktails and the food is good enough to come back, but not amazing to crave it. The fried dumplings were tasty and had good filling. The general tso chicken seemed pricey especially for the portion (I'm used to having leftovers for $14!), but there was real big chunks of chicken and it wasn't all breading. Not to mention, the sauce was super tasty! I wish I had more rice to sop it up. We also got the teriyaki chicken which looked good in the pictures and smelled great coming out sizzling on a plate, but was just meh. I wasn't happy with the Thai dish I ordered (Drunken Noodles) and they used eggs noodles instead of rice noodles. I thought maybe they ran out once so when l went back a second time they still gave me egg noodles. Service was mediocre both visits. They aren't very attentive to their customer needs, like drinks. When l pay $3 for tea for 6 people I expect to be asked if l need refills. The tables are way too close together. I could not have a private conversation with my family. Updating my review because we ordered takeout and it went well...thought I'd add a star, and here's why: 3 stars on Yelp means A-OK, not outstanding and not horrible...thats what Made in Asia is to me. What hasn't changed is the food is unremarkable and under-seasoned for anyone with an adventurous palette and experience with real Chinese and Thai food. None of the food I have ever had here has been well seasoned and definitely does not come off as authentic...if it were, anything Sichuan would be very spicy and have Sichuan pepper in it, the numbing spice...thats what Sichuan seasoning is from my experience. I think this place is catering to more local palates...country folks who have a whole different idea of what Chinese food is...like "not really Chinese at all"...but Americanized. There are also a lot of retired people who are salt adverse and will complain if there is even the slightest amount of salt in anything, so restaurants are stuck in a position to please the most customers. We ordered 4 entrees, 1 soup and some spring rolls. I had the Tom Yum soup and the Mongolian beef. I will review my food because thats what I tasted. The other people eating the food had no complaints and said the food was good...not fantastic, but good. The Tom Yum soup was pretty unremarkable...not authentic at all and was pretty bland and lacking of much substance. Almost all Tom Yum soups I've had in real Thai places eat like a meal, even the smaller bowls. Fortunately for me we took this home where I could add some Thai mushroom soy sauce and some sambal chili sauce to liven it up, and a lime wedge squeeze. What WAS remarkable is, the 2 shrimp I was given in the soup were not overcooked, even after sitting the drive home and reheating in the microwave. I wont be ordering it again, it was a ripoff, a watery, bland, poor rendition of Tom Yum. Just like the Pho I got there some year or more ago. The Mongolian beef was also unremarkable flavor wise. I think they put hoisin sauce in it...most commercial hoisin sauces are just not that good and thats what this tasted like. I have to admit and give credit that the beef was very tender, no chewy bits, and the vegetables had some crunch to them, the way I like it, but the overall flavor was dull...and just "edible"...not horrible. I was impressed that we had not one issue with our order. They got everything right and it was ready to pick up as fast as we could get there on a Sunday night. It takes about 10 minutes for us to get there and the people who picked up said it was waiting on them when they arrived. As the only Asian place in the Zion's Crossroads area, this is what you have for now. There are a couple standard Americanized take out type "Chinese" places around lake Monticello if you want to go out of your way off the highway that make better flavored "Chinese" food. But you have to go in to Charlottesville or better yet Richmond to get anything close to authentic Chinese or Thai food. Its a "no Asian" land between Richmond and Charlottesville. read more

I passed through here on a business trip and was hankering for some Asian food. This place was a hidden gem. We walked in and were instantly seated. Our waitress came over took our order and it wasn't more than five minutes and our food was on the table. Even more awesome, it tasted fantastic.
