Two…read moreyears ago when I went to Professional Vision in Parkville/Carney, they got the progressive lens measurement in my glasses wrong and had to start over. 2. Two years later, the protective coat disintegrated into fog. (Maybe this was my fault, but no one ever told me not to wear my glasses in hot sun or when I opened the dishwasher.) I went back to the Carney store and ordered new lenses for my current frames. 4. Two weeks later, when I went to have the new lenses inserted into my frame, they broke the frame. I accepted a different color frame, they inserted the new lenses, and I left. 5. Within blocks, I discovered that the prism in the glasses, which I need to avoid seeing double, wasn't working. Double vision is not safe! I took them right back; they discovered their transcription error, reinserted the blurry lenses, and put in the order again. 6. Two weeks later on a Monday, I got a call to come in and have the new lenses inserted. One lens had not been "edged" and would not fit. They said they'd take it to their Timonium store on Wednesday to be edged, and I could pick it up in Carney on Thursday. I asked if they could send it over there that day or on Tuesday. "No." I left with the one blurry old lens and one clear lens. 7. On Thursday, I got the call to to come in so they could insert the newly edged lens. When I got there, they discovered that the lens had not been brought back from Timonium. I could wait another day or two or . . . 8. I drove over to Timonium myself and they inserted the lens. I would be remiss if I didn't say that everyone was incredibly nice and said they were sorry. I just can't go back.

I was referred to this place by another doctor's office. I believe there is probably a business relationship with them. The doctor wasn't very friendly or willing to answer questions I had about the eye exam. I had never had that type of equipment used before. He was almost to the point of dismissive . He did absolutely no education about my eye health or recommendation on what to do for my dry eyes except glasses. I ended up going to an opthamologist after seeing him . And was informed about somethings that I need to have followed more closely. This doctor at Professional Vision never asked what kind of eye drops I was using or gave me any suggestions. When I asked for my prescription he gave me diagnostic codes instead of a reading most people are used to , like 20/20, 20/30. He managed to get my exam and my daughter's eye exam done in about 25 minutes. He didn't bother to explain what kind of glasses he was recommending . ( it was a three prescription lens) I have an astigmatism and his assistant even recommended I not start with glasses that strong since I've never worn glasses . I realize that he is an optician. Although based off of the reference from the other office ( in Baltimore City) I was led to believe he was an opthamologist. The last straw was when I picked up my daughter's glasses and his assistant just handed the case to me. No bag , cleaning cloth, no receipt. I really try to not get any medical care in the Baltimore/ Baltimore County area. There are a few exceptions. But , I feel there is a strong sense of prejudice in this area. I can't help but wonder if I looked different i would've been treated differently. I generally avoid this area because I don't feel healthcare providers take minorities seriously here. Outside of the hospitals and a random doctor here or there. I won't make this mistake again I got my daughter's glasses because she needs them. But , we won't be returning and I will get her eye care somewhere else.

Customer Since 2015:…read more 4/25/22: I, at one time really liked this business for my glasses. After seeing another optical specialist from my health plan, there was a discrepancy about the prescription performed on the glasses I purchased from Levin a year ago. I took them back to the Perry Hall office where they were done originally and explained my concern that the prescription check performed by my optical specialist on my pervious pair did not match what Levin had performed. I was informed by Melanie that there were no issues but she had no problem wanting to schedule me for an eye exam with their optician. I questioned as to WHY I should have another exam even after showing her the recent prescription from my recent optical specialist. After some thought, I agreed to accept the appointment ONLY after it was agreed that I would NOT be charged for the exam via conversational agreement with Melanie. After more though about the scheduled appointment, I later contacted the main office and spoke to Nicole, was referred to Gabrielle at the Harford Road office and explained the matter. I was asked to come in and my glasses were checked by David who was gracious to show me how the prescription was determined. Then, it was suggested by David that I schedule an appointment with their office(Parkville) and be seen by their specialist House on 4/25/22. I stated to both David and Gabrielle that I was already scheduled for an appointment at the Perry Hall office and that I would not be charged. David stated that in other words "he would honor that request'. I do not recall ever speaking to Gabriele about arrangements for making a claim with my Eye Plan for the appointment because I ONLY spoke to David about it at that point. On 4/25/22 I had the appointment with specialist House, thanked Gabrielle and David for being so kind and working with my issue. David also suggested that I'd come to the Parkville office for now on if it's not a problem going forward. With enthusiasm I said 'yes'. 5/2/22: I was notified by my Eye Plan via email that a claim was made by Levin for the 4/25/22 appointment. I then called the Parkville office and was explaining to Gabrielle about what was discussed about the appointment and why a claim was performed by their office. Before I could finish discussing my issue, Gabrielle accused me of not letting her explain why and 'she also stated that "I hurt her feelings, because they were trying their best to assist me". Before I said my last words, Gabrielle continued to say "If I don't like it here then I should go somewhere else". I stated that then 'going forward in the future that maybe I should then' because I was not about to get into a shouting match with her. My biggest concern is 2 things: 1. I stated to Gabrielle that IF she had informed me that a claim was being performed and the copay was being waived, then I would not have made the appointment as I stated to Melanie at the Perry Hall office. 2. Accusing me of 'hurting her feelings and stating that "If I don't like it here then I should go somewhere else"? NOTE: They all at Levin were gracious and kind to me in the beginning, but this issue with Gabrielle really changed my confidence in this business provider of services to me, the customer. AGAIN: I do not recall ever speaking to Gabrielle about arrangements for making a claim with my Eye Plan for the appointment because I ONLY spoke to David about it at that point. Otherwise, I would NOT have agreed to the have the appointment on 4/25/22.

Real mixed review. I love my eye doctor, Elizabeth B. McGinn, OD. I have hard contacts, she is…read moregreat at getting them fitted correctly. I also wear glasses. My husband and I have been going to her for many years and really like and trust her completely. The staff at the eyeglass area is a real mixed bag. They had a great woman who retired a few years ago. Never had a problem with her. Last year I had had a lot of issues with my glasses that dragged on for several weeks and they were never quite right but I was told today the woman who helped me had also retired since last year and they had some great new staff. I really wanted glasses that fit and I could see out of properly. I was excited at the idea of not having to try Costco/Warby Parker/random stores etc. Dr McGinn also made a note on my prescription to make extra effort to center my lens properly and pick out frames that work. Dr McGinn said they had a new man working and recommended going to him but he left on his break when I was done with my appointment. This was on 8/25/21 at around 11:20 am. This woman approached me from behind who I didn't even realize worked there at first because of how she was dressed and acted. She asked if I was looking for frames. I said I was and asked if she could help me pick out frames that might work best with my (high) prescription and lens and she said no and walked away. I looked for a few minutes with my husband and then said to her that between my issues last year, the trend of huge glasses (which I know I can't wear) and my eyes being dilated, I was having trouble finding the correct size glasses. I asked if she could help me again and she said no and that I should leave and come back if I wasn't "able" to pick out frames on my own. It was said in a very strangely aggressive way. My husband and I were the only ones there so she wasn't busy with other customers and she gave no reason why she couldn't help me. I picked out some frames and told her that I don't know what went wrong last year but I think either there was some problem with the fit or the lens themselves because I have to put my glasses on the tip of my nose to see through them. I repeated that I hoped she could help me chose the right frames and again she said no and splayed out on a chair staring at me. I said knew the problem wasn't a change in my eyes because my contacts were fine and my eyeglass prescription didn't change much then or now. She kept talking over me and "correcting" me for things I wasn't wrong about or even saying in a bizarre way. It was really shocking and uncomfortable. I've never been around a "professional" that acted like this before. It was very unsettling. I'm not an optician. It's her job to help fit me with the proper lens and glasses. I told her I knew it could be a glasses shape/lens issue which is why I wanted some guidance and she just kept talking over me in a really argumentative, aggressive way. I finally just grabbed my prescription and left. She was incredibly rude and hostile. My husband had brought frames with him to be filled with his prescription so he stayed a minute to get help with that. Hopefully they will be be fine? We were hesitant about dealing with her at all but since he had brought glasses he knew worked we thought maybe she could handle placing the order. I hope we didn't make a mistake. After I left to wait in the parking lot he told her that the problems I had last year dragged on for months with the very overwhelmed and now retired worker for various reasons beyond my control and that I had finally given up and made do for the past year but that my glasses haven't been really useable. She said the woman had been "covering for her" when she was ill and that "everyone has problems". Truly, what is going on here? Isn't having glasses that fit and you can see out of the bare minimum you can expect from an eyeglass shop? I've been wearing glasses for 35 years! There has never been this level of drama. I truly was excited to get help and spend hundreds of dollars at this place and this woman was so combative and unprofessional I had to leave with nothing. So three stars because I love the doctors but I would avoid the eyeglass shop like the plague just in case you have the misfortune of encountering this woman. A stranger off the street could give you better service.
